First of all, I am 100% English, no Filipino blood.
My long-term girlfriend however is Filipino and this is where I have my interest for the Philippines.
I am 22 (Turning 23 in a few days.)
I study Philosophy in Oxford but my passion if football and I have been involved in it my whole life, both playing and watching.
I played to a pretty decent standard and was trialling at Southampton FC's academy, but as I'm sure you know, they have pretty high standards in the academy at Southampton, producing talents like Walcott, Bale, Oxlade-Chamberlain etc.
I also work as a football consultant part-time watching football games from around the world for a company in London, where I provide data to statisticians and they in turn make models that helps predict outcomes for matches. Anyway, I have a wealth of experience in watching football matches and analysing players and have taken it upon myself to take an extra interest in Filipino football and have watched numerous games for the Philippines both at work and at home, including some UFL games, which is not easily accessible here in England.
(If anyone was ever able to provide me with full recordings of matches I would be very grateful and would be able to lend my expertise in helping discover talent and potential within the teams.)
I also briefly worked for Sports Interactive's Asian research team last year to help provide better in-game details for the filipino players for the game Football Manager 2015. I quit this post after not being able to invest all my efforts into it due to studies and work, but do I like to help SI out as much as I can in regards to data issues they have. My work with SI will hopefully be implemented in future updates as they are currently running with an out-dated databse with 2012 squads for the UFL.
Ideally I would love to eventually be able to move over to the Philippines and help raise the level of football there in some way. I do not yet know how, but as soon as I am done with University, I will be looking at getting into coaching, and I feel I could help out a lot.
I have posted over on a different forum regarding potential azkals that I have discovered over here in Europe using my links with SI and with my work's own database and will be more than happy to provide any players I find to have Filipino blood.
Anyway the two players I described were Luke Woodland of Bolton Wanderers u21 team, who looks to be blossoming into a fine young player, as well as one of Norwegians hottest young prospects, Sverre Bjorkkjaer, a 17 year old defender for Haugesund in the top division in Norway.
I can also provide valuable insight into how I see the current azkal squad comparing to european football, and although there is some good potential in the squad, from the games I have seen, the most promising prospect I believe is Daisuke Sato of Global FC. He really does look like a Yuto Nagatomo kind of player and although he looks like he would be valuable on the wing due to his pace and athleticism, I do see his best position as being a left wing back as the national team do not look too good at the back and this is an area where he can blossom.
I hope I can be of some help somewhere along the line, but for now..
A nice chat about the Azkals on the forums will do just fine.
Thanks,
Elliot.
