Name: Anton Edward Quimson del Rosario Date of birth: 6 June 1983 Playing position: Defender (Centre, Right Back) Club: Kaya F.C. Caps: 22 Goals: 2 Goals20 November 2006 - Panaad Stadium, Bacolod City, Philippines - vs Brunei - [Score 1-0][FT Score 4-1] - ASEAN Football Championship Qualifiers 22 October 2010 - National Sports Complex, Laos - vs Timor Leste - [Score 3-0][FT Score 5-0] - 2010 Suzuki Cup Qualifiers BioA Filipino born and raised in the US, Anton Del Rosario plays at the heart of the defense for both club and country. His partner on the defense, for both club and country as well is none other than skipper Ali Borromeo. Though he only has a goal to his name for the Azkals, a sensational free-kick against Brunei, this was an important goal for the team as it gave his teammates confidence and won the match 4-1. The game was also a vital one as it was for the ASEAN Football Championship Qualifier. (Wikipedia)Since the age six, Del Rosario has had a passion for football which his older brother and his parents were influential figures. He then played for a local team in the Hillsborough, California. He eventually played football at Burlingame High School for four years and was part of the varsity team which was the first CCS Champion Team at the school. In 2004 that Varsity CCS Champion Team of 1996-1997 was inducted into the Burlingame High School Athletic Hall of Fame which his older brother was also a part of. After high school, he continued his passion and played football in Burlingame, playing two years of football at Skyline College and then two years at Notre Dame de Namur University. While living in the Philippines for a couple of years as a teenager, Del Rosario tried out for the Philippine national team. He was successful enough to get selected and has been involved with the national team since 2000. Although he only made his debut on 8 December 2004 against Myanmar in the Tiger Cup. He went on to play all the matches in that tournament as a right back and has since become an integral part of the Philippine national team. Del Rosario scored his first and only international goal to date against Brunei via a free kick from 30 yards in the 2007 ASEAN Football Championship qualifiers. Del Rosario also has two own goals to his name; against Malaysia in the 2007 AFF Championship, and against Turkmenistan in the 2010 AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers. Our very own Rory Delap! Those bombing throw-ins will work very well to our advantage if worked on. He's got the distance, the accuracy, he just needs to work on the power.

Anton and his brother got a new endorsement deal. credit leela at PEX. Tuesday, July 12, 2011 Azkals' Anton and Armand del Rosario are Sun Life's Newest Endorsers Last July 9, 2011 at Carte Blanche Restaurant in World Trade Center, Sun Life held a press conference for members of quad-media (TV, radio, print and digital). The occasion was held to introduce two things--Sun Life's newest endorsers and the formal launch of the company's newest "Experience the Sun" TV commercial.
Continuing Sun Life's "It's Time" advocacy, the company has introduced Azkals' member Anton del Rosario and his brother, former Azkals' member, Armand del Rosario. They join current Sun Life endorsers: Piolo Pascual, Bam Aquino, and Pia Magalona. The del Rosario brothers are a great choice to be a Sun Life endorser for its retirement plans. Athletes don't have a long career span. If an athlete still gets to play at 40, that is considered very lucky.
Most athletes, though, retire early from their sports career and it's important that they think of their retirement plans as early as possible. Financial planning is very important for an athlete to ensure that he and his family are protected even after the sports life.
In the press conference, Armand shared that a car accident a few years back injured him and forced him to retire from the Football National Team. He is now the team captain of the Kaya Futbol Club and manages a healthcare business. And now that he is married and with three kids, he is seriously thinking of ensuring that his family is well taken cared for.
Anton, meanwhile, has been with the National Team since 2000 and has been a member of Azkals since 2004. Anton says he really looks up to his brother and learns a lot from him. Anton is learning more abou financial planning and has started his retirement plans early. I think this is a very wise move, considering the many health risks he faces as a football player.
The other endorsers of Sun Life--Piolo Pascual, Pia Magalona, and Bam Aquino--were also present in the press conference. They shared their own experiences with Sun Life and how the company has helped manage their lives better.
I was particularly delighted with Pia Magalona as she was very candid with her replies. Pia is a Sun Life beneficiary when master rapper and music icon Francis Magalona passed away. She admits that she doesn't understand much about her policies but she has complete trust with her Sun Life agent. Her agent has also been diligent in updating Pia and her kids about their plans, their incomes, and new products that would benefit them.
If you see Pia talk about her Sun Life experience, you can really tell that she believes so much in the company. She is particularly raving about Sun Life agents and how trustworthy and knowledgeable they are.
Sun Life is all about security and it certainly lives up to that promise. I and the Dark Lord are Sun Life policy holders, as well, so we can really vouch for the company and its products. What about you? Care to share if you have a life insurance? womenscentral.blogspot.com/2011/07/azkals-anton-and-armand-del-rosario-are.html

Jonny, from what I read its more than just for the UAE but, as in, he is OUT of the Azkals. More than that, if its true, why?

Maybe it is his attitude. Last year, in the very first game of Coach Weiss tenure, he subbed Anton out and Anton threw a fit, shouting at the coach and throwing stuff on the field. Eventually they worked it out but I wonder if he has been having problems with his temper again. Coach Weiss also mentioned several players not reporting for practice in the past, and maybe Anton was one of those absent.
Anyways one's position on the national team should never be a given. Players have to work hard to maintain their place. Players form vary throughout the long season and those who exhibit the best form at that point in time, should be chosen. Best thing for him is to excel in the UFL and show the coach that he is still one of the best defenders available. If he does that, I am sure he will be called back again.
