Guys as recently concluded under 23 tourney.....we could start supporting the players from this tourney....a deep training perhaps with a skilled coach...or a possible shot for the NT.
Best keeper John Robert Mendoza (NOFA) Best defender Carmelo Tacusalme (NOFA) Best midfielder Francis Gustilo (Iloilo) Best striker Joshua Beloya (NOFA)
MVP : Aldrin Dolino (NOFA)

wenden,
I am sure all those players you mentioned will be considered. The U-23 Suzuki cup was set up specifically to scout for new players for the U-23 team to the SEA games and the Azkal coaches have been watching the games to see who did best. From what I read, Coach Weiss was initially looking to set up a 30 man pool so there will be plenty of slots for players to aim for.
It has also been mentioned in articles in the past that members of the Azkals that are eligible for the SEA games (U-23) have already a place in the squad(30 man pool) including David Basa, Yannick Tuazon, Mark Ferrer, Christopher Camcam, Jason De Jong, Neil Etheridge, Paolo Pascual and Manny Ott. The main reason is that the coach is familiar with their play.
Several US based players trying out for the Azkals like Porteria, Ignacio, Rochlitz, as well as Ocampo(if he recovers from his knee injury in time) will also be considered. I am unsure however if all of this players will be available in November as it is in the middle of their college season and they might not be released by their coaches. European based players yet to tryout for the Azkals will also be shortlisted.

The good thing is that we have a large pool to work with and then it can be chopped down. The key would be how the Suzuki Cup talents (the likes of Beloya) mesh with the ones hardened by UFL action (Yannick, Ferrer, etc.)

I like how you labled players as "Several US based players" & "European based players" instead of fil-am, fil-brit or half breeds.
People, this is how we should call our players, we should start using this. It doesnt mention any ethnicity, blood or race. It only tell us where they are based. I think from there we would know who the player we talkin about. We can call Araneta, Caligdong, Ali and Anto Del Rosario as RP based players then.
I hope this is a start.

www.mb.com.ph/articles/319763/negros-players-endorsed-pffNegros players endorsed to PFF By FRANCIS SANTIAGO May 25, 2011, 12:19am MANILA, Philippines — Negros Occidental coach Norman Fegidero Jr. has recommended five players from his side, including highly-touted Joshua Beloya to be included in the pool for the national football team to the Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia later this year. Strikers Beloya and Aldrin Dolino, Lemuel Unabia, defender Camelo Tacusalme and Joven Bedic helped Negros capture the 1st Philippine Football Federation-Suzuki National Cup at the expense of fierce rival Iloilo on Sunday. Fegidero, a former national head coach, believes their inclusion to the national squad would be a big boost to the country’s bid of winning a first ever medal in the SEAG since joining the biennial meet in 1977. “There are a lot more talented players in the province and I hope football officials will reach out to them,†said Fegidero moments after Negros blanked Iloilo, 9-0, in the second leg of their Suzuki title duel at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City. Negros also won the first leg, 3-1. Azkals’ German coach Hans Michael Weiss and team manager Dan Palami will handle the national squad for the SEAG, which is an Under-23 event. Beloya, a Filipino-American who was born in Olongapo but grew up in the United States and Sweden, made a lot heads turn when he was named the PFF-Suzuki National Cup’s best striker with 14 goals on Sunday, while Dolino, was awarded as the tournament’s MVP and Tacusalme, the best defender. “He (Beloya) has a great feel for the game and very dangerous inside the box. He’s greatest asset is his mental toughness,†Fegidero said. Fegidero, though, said he hopes the Philippine Football Federation has a solid program for players who would leave the province to join the national squad in Manila. Malaysia is the defending SEA Games champion, with Vietnam and Singapore as the second and third place finishers. The national team will be backstopped by six Azkals, according to Palami. They are goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, 21, Christopher Camcam, 16, defender David Basa, 21, striker Yannick Tuason, 21 and Fil-German Patrick Hinrichsen, 20, and Fil-Dutch Jason de Jong, 21.

If FIFA bans Indonesia, I wonder if a football competition will even take place in the SEA games...hmmmm

The SEA games is in November which leaves Indonesia plenty of time to comply with FIFA in order to have the ban lifted. However, the AFF Under 23 competition in July which serves as a dry run for the SEA games, and gives our team time to tryout players and achieve team chemistry, will potentially be affected and can be cancelled.

present and former members of the azkals like basa, ferrer and yannick are shoo-ins for the u-23 nt. at the recently concluded suzuki u-23 the players that i would highly recommend are nofa's belayo and iloilo's gustilo. belayo is a scoring threat within the 30 yard range and can create chances for himself at impossible angles. gustilo can control the midfield , difficult to dispossess and has a very high passing accuracy, he will be better if he has good finishers in front. gustilo's weakness is his lack of movement without the ball.

Yeah Joshua Beloya sounds like the real thing. Apparently he was part of the FC Zurich system when he was in Switzerland. Hope they give him and the other deserving players in the Suzuki U-23 Cup a tryout.

sorry for the late reply guys ...too busy..... cjeagle ..it is good to hear that the players from the province is taking noticed, that all I need it a start....hoping that the attention of the training program will be open to anyone especially to thos who fought and play on the under 23 or any other event that the PFF organize. However hopefully not only beloya.....though he got the best striker but Dolino is the MVP hopefully they got the shot....not only those people but the top athlete of each provinces...even if it is not inlcude to the NT rooster but they will still included in the training under coach weiss. As what coach fegediro said "œThere are a lot more talented players in the province and I hope football officials will reach out to them" For the person that you mention Ferrer, basa and tuason...im sorry to say but I think they dont deserve the slot.......etheridge, de jong, ott of course yes....cam cam and pascual i dont know them yet..... pendong if indonesia was ban then football is temporary will be not held in palembang it will be open next 2013 Sea games... @ Alluz.....I agree with you....and include dolino, he is one of the key why beloya have a high score (assist).....

Ferrer, Basa, and Tuason..are they playing in the UFL? I read some UFL articles but I don't find them making impact/names in the league..or I'm wrong..there are some U23 names that shines in the UFL and find actions in the recent suzuki U23 tournament..
