I think some of these U-23 players from the Suzuki Cup should be recruited by the UFL where they can be compared with the rest of the national team players. That is how it works in the rest of the world. How you do in your club determines whether you are qualified to play for your national team. It is at the professional level where most players in the rest of the world learn their craft not in the national team. The national teams only meet and play for short stretches most of the time and does not leave enough time for them to do anything but achieve team chemistry. Their main goal is to win and not to develop players. All this speculation that this player or that player from a short regional competition is qualified to suddenly represent the country over established national players sounds pretty subjective to me since the cries come from their own coaches or fans. Prove it over a period of time in a professional setting like the UFL or a successor national professional Premiere League. Earn a spot and not just claim it.

cjeagleYour recommendation is very good so that the players will give a chance however....... UFL is not only the league in the Philippines their are are lot of leagues with a better team and players....that is why im not a fan of UFL because it is a manila base league though I support the league to become successful and a key to merge all the leagues in phl as one solid league. Some of the players opted to stay in the province to play the league some move to manila. And the players of the Under 23 are college stand-outs from the various colleges that have a continous competition all year round like those on the vis-min area. This players are well known, the question is does there fame reaches manila, I think not maybe some but not majority, not until this regional competition reemerge again, I think that the PFF must emphasize their scouting capability. And how much more subjective if the players that hired to the NT, that there's no basis why they selected? if theres a basis then please elaborate so that we will change our mind. The regional competition has been announced early as possible, even they had an ample time to group themselve and play as a team. that is why theres a regional elimination. As what the PFF declares that they will try to recruit players during the under 23 tourney, but it seems that the coaching staff didnt impress the players from the provinces, it is their choice. Only that there integrity is tarnish (just a hypothesis but not concrete).

They haven't really called up the U-23 team yet so we don't know which players impressed the national coaching staff. We will find out then. As for who is the better league, again this is a subjective assessment by coaches and fans. You are claiming it, not earning it. Now that the Smart Club championship has been established, you have the chance to prove it. Hopefully it will evolve into a national professional league with teams all over the country but for now all we can do is speculate. In the meantime, it would be better for the best players in the provinces to join the UFL in Manila where they can be compared to the rest of the national team players as well as foreign imports. This will increase the standard of play in the UFL which in turn will benefit the national team.

may player ba sa Azkals na nag lalaro for a club in Vis Min? bakit wala? bakit yung cream of the crop talents from Vis / Min sa UFL nag lalaro? bakit yung mga maling na player from High School eh lumuluwas ng Manila para mag laro sa UAAP/NCAA/SCUAA? pa sagot naman po.

Indeed.......the smart championship will be the gauge.......hopefully it turn out good for the football in general.... im sorry but you keep saying subjective.....why not you assess what I mean, I saw some of the leagues in the vismin area and I can say that they can beat SOME of the UFL team (off course not the talented air force and Smart team), some of the team can play evenly, and im not the only one saying this.....some of the reason why they still playing in the province because financial they dont have it, sorry but this, the palakasan system in the PHL still exist, recruitment is not that good. Anyways lets see the incoming smart championship, eventhough NOFA did not qualify, ill go for the Iloilo, but I admit Rizal team is the team look for......damn there formidable team....

alluz Yeah Joshua Beloya sounds like the real thing. Apparently he was part of the FC Zurich system when he was in Switzerland. Hope they give him and the other deserving players in the Suzuki U-23 Cup a tryout. Yes he's good ... he got 15 goals during the tournament even he is not physically fit. Remember he was discovered while playing sunday pick up football in Panaad when the U23 Negros team is also practicing that time and its around 2 days before the tournament opens ...... I saw him play ... very dangerous because of his creativity and willingness to give the ball to a team mate with better chances of scoring.

I beg to disagree on this. The last Smart championships they did technically disqualified the Negros team ... from what I heard the organizers said Negros did not intend to participate but from the Negros Team side they said the organizers did not confirm when will the tournament start. Negros just found out they were disqualified. Years ago politics destroyed football in PH ... now its starting again? In the last under 23 .... it was an official from the loosing team who insisted to have an extra period ... but when they loose in their own turf they protested to null and void? ... tsk tsk tsk ...

present and former members of the azkals like basa, ferrer and yannick are shoo-ins for the u-23 nt. at the recently concluded suzuki u-23 the players that i would highly recommend are nofa's belayo and iloilo's gustilo. belayo is a scoring threat within the 30 yard range and can create chances for himself at impossible angles. gustilo can control the midfield , difficult to dispossess and has a very high passing accuracy, he will be better if he has good finishers in front. gustilo's weakness is his lack of movement without the ball. Personally I dont want to think that basa, ferrer, yannick are shooins just because they train with the azkals .... But I do agree with your description of that Beloya and Gustilo and they should be in. Also dont forget the Caligdong of U23 ... MVP Dolino as I have the opportunity to see the U23 games when I was on vacation. I enjoyed Negros poor man barca's playing style. Pero the reality is its the coaches decision.
