TEAM REPORT: Angélo Verheye/KAA Gent
Sept 24 2011 Sint-Truiden 3-4 Gent
Angélo's KAA Gent won a back and forth match last night and in so doing finds itself at 2nd place in the Pro League, Belgiums highest tiered soccer league. Sint-Truiden gave a good accounting for itself though, as they found themselves ahead 2-0 at the half. The second half was a see saw battle with the Buffaloes(Gent) scoring at the 47th and 58th minute to make it 2-2. ST again grabbed the lead at the 60th minute with a penalty kick to make it 3-2, Sint-Truiden. More back and forth action ensued with the Buffaloes scoring at the 67th minute to tie it 3-3. The end came at injury time when the opponents goal keeper(who would've been the man of the match for his great saves) received a red card at the 92nd minute! At the 93 minute a penalty goal was scored to make it 4-3 KAA Gent.
Meanwhile, the reserve or U21 team of Gent won another match. their season record now stand at 2-1-2. Angelo V was a Gent reserve player.

If the current Fulham forms continues we will not have EPL player next season... They should have won the game... Wiking, I've read in Fulham's Facebook group that Schwarzer is the man on the match for them and he was playing through in pain in the 2nd half... he got injured in the game? Hi fadski, The real question is, why not send in NE? I'm starting to believe NE does not have the full confidence of the coach yet. By all accounts, NE played well in the friendly(they won 7-0) he played 2 weeks ago. So why not NE, Unless he isn't performing well in practice, or went astray of some team regulation maybe? As for relegation, we might see this for a few of our guys in the highest level. As you mentioned Fulham then 1.Bundesliga's Hamburger SV, a step lower is MS Duisburg, Rolands team. Suck's I know... I am also wondering if Neil will ever play for Fulham first team! He has been on the bench in every game.

TEAM REPORT: Jacques Van Bossche/Standaard Wetteren
Sept 24 2011 Standaard Wetteren 1-2 KV Oostende
Standaard Wetteren otherwise called the "Lions" came in to the game knowing they needed offense more than anything else. They started a newcomer to the team who subsequently scored their first goal at the 39th minute to make it 1-0 at the half. The coaches decision seemed correct. Unfortunately a series in the 2nd half proved to be their undoing. Goals at the 55th and 61st minute ensured the opposing team a 2-1 lead that the Lions, from lack of offensive power just could not overcome. The Lions coach mentioned his teams lack of "confidence, creativity and surprise". JvB's senior team is now 18th and last place in the Belgian 2nd Division while the opponent, KV Oostende is at third.
JvB is in the Philippines recuperating from an injury and should be playing for the U23 in the SEA games. He is a reserve for SW.

TEAM REPORT: Jeffrey Christiaens/KM Torhout
Sept 24 2011 Torhout 3-1 Heppignies-Lambusart
Finally some relief for Jeffrey's team KM Torhout! In this home fixture, KM T beat the opponent Heppignies-Lambusart comfortably, 3-1. Temporarily, KM Torhout is out of the relegation zone at 15th place in the 18 team 3rd Division Belgian League while H L is at 12th.
No other info released at this time. I'll update asap.
Jeff C. was a starter for the 1st team before he left to play for the Azkals and its U23 wing. He gave out an assist for goal in his first Azkal outing in a local invitational tournament.

MATCH REPORT: Paul Mulders
Sept 21 2011 Scheveningen 1-3 ADO Den Haag KNVB Cup
This was a second round KNVB Cup(similar to Danish Cup or FA Cup) against Scheveningen a Hoofdklasse, or 4th tier Dutch club. This match was akin to a reunion as 7 players and the coach of Scheveningen used to be members of ADO.
The scoring began with a penalty goal at the 15th minute for the home team but true to its more illustrious pedigree, ADO tied the game before half time. For good measure, goals at the 80th and 86th minute sealed the win for ADO. Paul's ADO now moves to the 3rd round of the KNVB Cup challenge.
Paul was neither in the game or the game roster.
Sept 24 2011 ADO Den Haag 2-0 VVV Venlo
In what was billed a relegation battle, two Dutch premier league minnows battled to escape the relegation zone. Fortunately for the Hague, a few, first, happened. One, home fans, for the first time this season saw a win! Secondly, an ADO player, Gábor Horváth finally posted his first premier league goal. With an attacking football style ADO closes the match with a 2-0 win.
Paul Mulders was not in the game nor was he in the game roster. He has a fractured orbital bone but is now practicing. He is expected to participate in Philippine friendlies this October.

MATCH REPORT: Jerry Lucena
Sept 24 2011 AGF 1-0 Nordsjælland
And the climb continues for Jerry's AGF Aarhus! In a home game that even AGF's coaches were unsure of, they managed to beat a top team 1-0 and find themselves number 2 in Denmark's premier league, the Superliga. It was an early goal at the 18 minute mark that made the difference in the match.
The second half saw the visitors get the majority of the possession but even so, AGF's defense were better. With our very own Jerry Lucena, a perennial starter and defensive anchor at the right back position, the defense made sure the visitors score remained at zero.
AGF is at the 2nd spot of the Superliga ranking table and Nordsjælland drops to third.
Jerry started and played the full match.

I am also wondering if Neil will ever play for Fulham first team! He has been on the bench in every game. It has only been two months. It's typical for a 2nd string goalkeeper to linger in the bench for several months to more than a year before debuting for the team, and usually during a friendly or the early stages of a cup competition. If he's on the bench for 1.5 years without playing for Fulham or being loaned out then that's the time to worry. Stockdale didn't debut for more than a year. Brad Guzan of Aston Villa had to wait for almost half a year, and that was in a Europa League game. Nothing to worry about Neil yet. I'm sure he is progressing especially since he is practicing with the first team. Just the fact that he is now constant at the bench is an achievement, beating out the new coach's (Martin Jol) first signing Somogyi at the season's start. Go Neil!

JvB is in the Philippines recuperating from an injury and should be playing for the U23 in the SEA games. He is a reserve for SW. last i heared is that his injury is gone and that he is now training full force without any problems . his team is having problems: this was not unexpected, they have the lowest budget in the 3 topdivisions, the trainer -who was their strongest asset- was transferred to a first divison club in the beginning of the new season so the new coach had to start with a group that was brought together with a special tactic in mind and he is trying to make them play in a different tactical plan, the board had substantial changes a.o. a new president . they are in a bad situation for the moment and it will be a hard season for them, but 2nd division in Belgium is a strange division and 2 consecutive wins can bring you in the top 6 . the reserves also lost against Oostende with 1-2 . i had the chance to see the game and talked with some people there, even JVB's father was around and he gave me the info about his injury .

THANK YOU carabao for the great insights! As you can imagine it is very hard for us to get information seeing that most of us are thousands of miles away from there. Please do continue to update us with all things pertaining to our Belgian contingent. It is truly wonderful we have someone like you so we dont have to rely on 2nd or even third hand news. This website has one of the best information about our foreign based Azkals because of members like you.
I hope Staandard Wetteren gets back its winning ways soon. Cheers!

MATCH REPORT: Patrick Hinrichsen
Sept 25 2011 SV Darmstadt 98 (U23) 1-4 Kickers Obertshausen
It was no help to play on the home pitch for Patrick's SV D II. The young lilies still places at a comfortable 5th in this Verbansliga(6th tier) while Kickers Obertshausen is at 3rd.

Despite having more than a week to prepare for the opponent Bochum, Roland's team MSV Duisburg just did not have enough to win this away game. MSV scored a tying goal at the 55th minute and was hanging on as much as they could but luck ended at the 89th minute with a Bochum strike! Bochum wins 2-1

MATCH REPORT: Rob Gier
Sept 24 2011 Ascot United 0-1 Buckingham Town

Facing an opponent new to them but playing in familiar pitch Ascot United was listless throughout the match especially when conceding a "soft goal" in the first half. Rob Gier was not in the game nor the player roster.
