A little bit off topic but what do guys think of the new Azzurri away kit made by Puma? I've read a couple of fans saying it's hideous. LOl! ;D anyway, can you guys imagine our boys wearing something like this?

Any kit as long as its made by a globally recognized brand will always look better and more elegant compared to the ones being made by an unknown kit maker like LGR. So for me, even if LGR designs a better kit than Nike, Adidas or Puma, the kit made by the latter 3 will always be more appealing and elegant to the majority. Like the kit of India made by Nike, it looks simple but since it's made by Nike the kit nonetheless still looks elegant and appealing. So IMO, the kit being showed above is appealing and elegant.. Well that's just my opinion though..

Again, I'm intrigued... Now that we've seen the fully finished kit against North Korea, I thought they were decent. Not too different from early Mizuno kits (the 2006 version comes to mind) but the hidden feature is the pattern in the blue fabric. These aren't uncommon in National Kits and we see them in Japan's and Indonesia's, among others. You can't see it very well on TV but they're gorgeous in person. My only wish is that the pattern had something distinctly Filipino. Perhaps the sun and stars from our flag? Some mysterious alibata text along the collar? While the current pattern looks cool, it doesn't say anything about us. Or I at least fail to see it. If I'm not mistaken (though I probably am), Japan's kit has a giant Peach Blossom in the blue part of their shirt, for example.

If I'm not mistaken (though I probably am), Japan's kit has a giant Peach Blossom in the blue part of their shirt, for example. South Korea's old Home/Away kits had subtle designs on them too, tiger stripes because on their national team crest is a white tiger anyway. I'm all for subtle patterns, but I dislike the idea of any obvious imagery such as the sun and stars or even alibata. It has to be a Filipino idea sure, but it doesn't have to be as obvious as that. The icons used have to be as subtle as the print, that's the trend I usually see on kits nowadays. Also, the subtle print you were referring to was on Japan's old kit (used from WC2010 onwards, but they changed kits now). It wasn't a giant peach blossom but feathers, because the JFA's icon is Yatagarasu, one of their mythical animals which happens to be a raven. Pretty cool actually.

Oh it was feathers on the Japan kit? Yeah that is pretty cool. Seems like the trend is to use the team mascot/nickname somehow. What would we have? Paw prints? I agree that the subtler the imprint the better. And with your examples of Japan and South Korea's kits requiring a bit of smarts to "get", I wish we could come up with something just as intelligent.

How do I upload pictures? I have some old pictures of the national team that might add interest to the discussion on the team's kits. Plus, it'd be great to be able to identify these players.
So how do I upload? Cheers!

Mods, I don't know what thread to post these pictures in so feel free to move them around. I thought it'd be interesting to know, 1. Who these players are 2. What other posters think of the kits they are wearing in the photos (i think these kits are waaaay cooler than the kits they wear now)
