MATCH PREVIEW: Ray Jónsson/Grindavík/Úrvalsdeild, Iceland (1st Tier)
May 6, 2012: FH - Grindavík
Grindavík held the 10th and final retention spot in the top-flight league in the 2011 season, with a 5-8-9 WDL record which gathered them 23 points.
The club will start their 2012 season with a match versus the former champions FH. FH was placed second in the 2011 season with a 13-5-4 WDL record and gathered themselves 44 points, 3 points below the eventual champions KR. They also got a spot in the first qualifying round in the 2012-13 UEFA Europa League.
This match will be a tough start for the club as they battle against relegation which threatened them last season due to a lack of form at midfield. The club has already acquired new recruits in midfield including Scottish player Gavin Morrison from Inverness Caledonian Thistle and English player Jordan Edridge from Chesterfield, Derbyshire who played for New Mills in the English Conference.
Ray Jónsson is expected to play left back again, although has been utilised to play in midfield in some matches in the previous season.

stellarboy,
This thread should not be started until all the games played by our players in Europe for the 2011-2012 season have been finished. We discussed this already last year when I started this thread and and is similar to Players Abroad threads in other forums. It will be more organized this way and will avoid confusion. This thread follows the European season on an annual basis specifically the FIFA calendar and the English Premiership and may include news of the preseason. Any other leagues which do not follow this schedule, whether North American or Scandinavian(which generally follow a spring to fall schedule because of harsh climactic winter conditions) will be grandfathered to this schedule at this time until FIFA changes it.
In fact, at one time, FIFA tried to change this schedule and synchronize it, so that all the professional leagues fall under one calendar year, but the major European leagues vetoed this idea and so we are stuck with what we have right now.
However, any preseason news prior to the start of next season(2012-13), including player transfers(rumored or otherwise) should be placed on this thread.

Affirmative, cjeagle.
Many of the major European leagues as of date still have two to four fixtures left in their schedule for the 2011-12 season, but for the sake of those leagues in the places you've said, and for the upcoming preseason around the middle of this year, I managed to start this thread for the sake of organization.

Thanks stellarboy, though you could always leave this thread in the general forum, so that any preseason news and rumors pertaining to the following season can be discussed as well.

MATCH REPORT: Ray Jónsson/Grindavík/Úrvalsdeild, Iceland (1st Tier)
May 6, 2012: FH 1 - 1 Grindavík
Grindavik started their 2012 Urvalsdeild season with an away draw against FH. The club team dominated possession in the 1st half but held goalless at half-time. However, things shook up at the 2nd half as both opponents had good attempts. In the end, both clubs scored a goal each around the final 15 minutes of regulation. With the tie, they both stand at 4th-5th in the league standings.
More details as we get it soon.

PRE-SEASON ANALYSIS: Stephan Schröck/TSG 1899 Hoffenheim/1.Fußball-Bundesliga, Germany (1st Tier)TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (11th out of 18 teams)21 Apr 12 Hoffenheim 0 - 1 Bayer Leverkusen 28 Apr 12 Hoffenheim 2 - 3 Nürnberg 05 May 12 Hertha BSC 3 - 1 Hoffenheim After losing three key players in the January transfer window, Hoffenheim's standing in the 1.Bundesliga plummeted as it only able to gather 4 wins in the second half of the season. They end the 2011/12 season with a bitter note with three consecutive losses to technically-stronger teams. In its very tiptoed run for this club so far, it managed to have a 10-11-13 WDL record, scoring 41 and conceding 47, therefore gathering 41 points. They are only able to manage mostly draws at home, while suffering narrow losses away. In its run for the DFB-Pokal (German Cup), it sweeped the 3 preliminary rounds against Germainia Windeck (playing the NRW-Liga) in the 1st round, and fellow Bundesliga clubs 1.FC Köln and FC Ausburg in the 2nd and 3rd round respectively, therefore qualifying for the Quarter-finals. However, their opponent at that time was the top-placed 2.Bundesliga club SpVgg Greuther Fürth that bannered impact player and Philippine international Stephan Schröck. As expected, the Kleeblatt defeated them 1-0, and advanced to the Semi-Final stage against Borussia Dortmund. Hoffenheim may have been impressed with the performance of Schröcki during that match, as he was the one who assisted the lone goal against them. At that, they offered him a three-year contract, while at that time, Stephan was still in negotiations for a better contract at Furth. Unfortunately, Furth had financial problems of their own and could not provide Schröcki the compensation he needed, apparently because he is an expectant father with his wife Pina due to give birth in the 3rd quarter of 2012. Therefore, Schröcki took the offer to play in Hoffenheim instead for the next three seasons. Will the move of Stephan Schröck rise Hoffenheim up the standings or is it gonna be the start of a nightmare for Schröcki's career? Watch out for more Pre-Season Analysis only in the Filipino Footballers Abroad thread here in Usapang Football!

MATCH RESULTS:
R. Jonsson GRINDAVIK 0 - Keflavik 4 Goal Scorers: 19' F. Elvarsson 34' F. Elvarsson 38' A. Traustason 47' E. Einarsson
Grindavik tasted it's first loss this 2012-2013 season. Their first loss was played in their home. Jonsson subbed in replacing M. Fridriksson in the 46th minute and Jonsson played until the end of the game.
Next Game: Fram vs Grindavik on Wed May 16 3:15am Manila Time (7:15pm Local Time)
By the way, Jonsson might not be able to suit up the MAS and IDN games since Grindavik has games on June 3 in their home against IA. After that game, his team's next game will be on June 16 in an away game. He might be able to play for June 8 and June 12 games if PHI has games on this dates. Hope THA and BAH and if based on match dates but who knows maybe Grindavik allow Jonsson to play for PH. If his team do that, he will miss only one game and could play in MAS and IDN. Let's wait for update of his availability.

ANNOUNCEMENTDue to the DFB reorganization of the German Football Pyramid, these are the effects of reorganization:- The new system shall commence in the 2012-13 season.
- Muller's MSV Duisburg II's table the NRW Oberliga will be disbanded after this season. His team is surely promoted to Regionalliga due to huge gap
- Wolf's team (Magdeburg) and Ingreso's team (Hamburger SV II) will no longer be together next season as they will be put into different group. FC Magdeburg will be grouped in Regionalliga Nordost and Hamburger SV II in Regionalliga Nord
- Due to reoganization, FC Magdeburg will not be relegated this season but in next season, if they have a poor finish, they might be relegated.
- Ott's team FC Ingolstadt 04 will now be in Regionalliga Bayern next season from Regionalliga Sud. Ott is unsure if the team will extend his contract since his contract expires on June 30.
Everything depends on them if they will still be on their teams or they will find a new club.

Ott is unsure if the team will extend his contract since his contract expires on June 30.

Manny Ott's contract has been extended to June 30 2014 @stellar, as per your Hoffenheim post above, the team has also had 2 other high profile player signings. Both players are also "nationally capped" player which including Stephan, makes 3. The team has not been sitting idle during the transfer period, hopefully the team plays better in the new season.
