euro racecar NASCAR ? I think it would of been better for a v8 supercar event to held a CIS not some series which internationally no one knows about. first of all a v8 supercar event in the philippines would attract race fans from all over Australasia, its closer to the series main fan base, and v8 supercars has for some years now tried to break the series into asia so far unsuccessfully but it has a huge following in australia and new zealand. with these race fans also comming from overseas it be great for the local economy.instead you have a series that no one knows about with no fan base and with no fans no money..

There are negotiations in August 2011 about V8 Supercars to hold a race in CIS. This is an article way back in August 2011 Aussies invades the Philippines with V8 Supercars in 2013 The Clark International Speedway (CIS) in Pampanga has been host to several motorsport disciplines since it opened in 2008 - from drag races, touring cars, drifting, and even motorcycles. But in 2013, there's a good darn chance that Australian V8 Supercars will also start lining-up on its grid when the series' CEO Martin Whitaker confirmed their interest in staging a race in the country last week. The announcement was inline with plans to expand the series to 18 rounds with six races staged overseas, which includes other race venues such as New Zealand, Shanghai, and Bahrain proposed for 2013's race calendar. The Clark International Speedway was chosen due to its close proximity to many utilities such as hotels, shops, restaurants, casino, and most importantly, the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport. It not only makes it favorable for the teams who's flying-in all their equipment and personnel, but even more for the vast amount of tourists who will flood in for the race weekend. Plus, local fans should have no trouble attending the event since the CIS is only about 100 km away from Metro Manila. Although construction has not yet been fully-completed at the circuit, its pit area, grandstands, and facilities should be ready when the Aussies arrive in three years’ time. More importantly, safety measures will have to be beefed up throughout the four-kilometer track, such as stronger crash barriers, larger run-off areas, and equipped emergency personnel, to cope with these 600hp 5.0 liter V8 monsters that have an innate behavior to tangle on track. Should the plan to host a race in the Philippines push through in 2013, the Australian V8 Supercars Championship will become the biggest international race to ever hit the country and should generate more than 600,000 viewership worldwide. But while we should consider this as a huge step-up for the nation, it's ironic that the proposal was endorsed and supported by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the same government body that shunned away the celebrated Philippine Dragon Boat Team, while none of the drivers from the V8 Supercars' 28 car grid are of Filipino descent. I hope this will push through and hoping CIS will be fully completed.

This is good news. Lotus is probably the second biggest name in Formula 1 car racing history next only to Ferrari and it looks like Marlon will be mentored every step along the way. Here is the official press release from Lotus www.lotusf1team.com/The-Young-Ones.htmlus1.campaign-archive2.com/?u=140a04a2c76d0c4e6bcee01d0&id=8382f47d65&fbsend=true&e=734d10c885Marlon Stockinger – Philippines - World Series by Renault How significant is joining the Lotus F1 Junior Team programme to your career? It’s a great feeling to be associated with such a prestigious team. If you look back through the years as Benetton and Renault you can see that this team knows how to win championships, so to be surrounded by that heritage is a big honour for me. I really want to make the most of it and am looking forward to wearing the team colours with pride. It’s a big year for you making the step up to World Series by Renault; what are your thoughts heading into the season? Of course, every driver wants to win, but I understand it’s a big step moving into a new category so learning is the most important thing. Starting with testing, I need to take in as much as I can and from there it’s all about consistency and building a strong platform to progress through the ranks. I’m aiming to make a good start and develop as much as I can as the championship progresses.

Wowza!! Congrats to Marlon Stockinger. I remembered I had goosebumps when I heard the Philippine Anthem and the Philippine flag being raised when he won in Monaco last year.
As a Kimi Raikkonen fan, I'm just loving it that among the young drivers picked by Lotus is a Filipino and I hope he bumps into the Iceman in one of the race paddocks or at Enstone.

GT3 Race in the Streets of Manila Hot cars bound for Manila racingBy Abac Cordero, The Philippine Star Posted at 02/23/2013 1:38 PM | Updated as of 02/23/2013 1:38 PM MANILA, Philippines - More of the Lamborghinis, Benzes, Ferraris, Porsches and BMWs will soon hit the streets of Manila – certainly not via the controversial Port Irene in Sta. Ana, Cagayan. Around 15 of these exotic vehicles will be flown in, with all the proper taxation and documentation, for the country’s first-ever GT3 Race Manila on June 15 and 16. Yes, it’s the first GT3 (grand touring) race in the country’s capital. The ambitious project was put up by GT3 Race Asia, behind Malaysian Prince Tunku Khairul Zaim, and Manila, headed by Mayor Alfredo Lim. The young and dashing Prince is here to promote the event which is part of the celebration of Philippine Independence Day on June 12. “This will be good for Manila because it brings excitement to the city. I think Manila is a good place to run a GT3 race,” he said. Prince Khairul said the two-day event will be a festival with lots of singing and dancing, and not just about the race. “It will be good publicity for the city,” said the Royal visitor during yesterday’s press launch at Barbara’s inside the walled city of Intramuros. Rolly Relanes, GT technical specialist, said the race route, a 2.7 km stretch along T.M. Kalaw, P. Burgos, Maria Orosa, Roxas Blvd. and Parade Avenue fronting the historic Quirino Grandstand has already passed the initial check.“The surface is good, except for some portions or some corners that need new asphalt. We will have the race track fenced and speed corners equipped with break barriers,” he said. The race, to be held at daytime, will have the participants racing for 15 to 20 laps. “We’re planning of bringing in 15 cars that can run as fast as 250 kph. We all think Manila is a good place to run. And this will show the world how beautiful the city of Manila is,” said recent GT3 Asia champion Dilantha Malagamuwa. The foreign entries from Japan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Australia and Hong Kong will be given a day of practice and a qualifying run on June 15 leading to the race itself. ESPN is said to be bringing in a crew to cover the races. Filipino JP Tuason, according to organizers, might race for BMW.Local racecar enthusiasts are beaming with excitement, and this early there are plans to hold kart races, drag racing or even circuit racing for vintage cars as side events. “All of us here in Manila are used to just seeing these races on television,” said Mayor Lim, who assured organizers that the city will put its best foot forward for the event. “As far as road condition is concerned, we are sure that whatever defect our city engineer will take care of it. We will also handle the security and traffic control as well as the safety not just for the racers but spectators,” the mayor added. “Everything will be taken care of,” said Lim, who also presented the Malaysian Prince with a box of Philippine-made cigars and a key to the city. “They say Cuban cigars are the best. We say they haven’t tried ours,” said the mayor. “And this key, please use it to open the hearts of the Malaysian people for them to continue to have a harmonious relationship with Filipinos.” “Sometimes there are conflicting opinions on issues but this can be resolved peacefully,” added Lim. He did not elaborate. www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/02/23/13/hot-cars-bound-manila-racing

Marlon's First Drive in an F1 Car on April 4.
youtube version
Apparently he is bringing one of those cars to the Philippines in May.
Yesterday was the first race at Monza in the World Series 3.5. Here is his tweet
"@imstockinger: Started p25 with a tire gamble in quali. Ended the race p13! Tomorrow is a new day! But I always enjoy racing in Monza! One of the best!
Just realized we finished the race with 3rd fastest lap! So a lot of potential in the car!"
He eventually finished in 13th place after his first 2 races this season at Monza. Good result for Marlon in his first race in the Formula Renault World Series 3.5, one level below Formula One. He even did better than his older and more experienced teammate on the Lotus Junior team, Sorensen.

first things first im a fan of marlon but in is current racing form maybe lucky to get a drive next season which would be a shame but when his team mate( marco sorenson) has been winning races finished 6th in the drivers standings last year in his rookie season won a race fininshing 7th this year in the standings again with race wins/pole positions.marlon is in his rookie season but his highest finishes has been two 7th placings which isnt good enough from a competive team view its not just his drivers championship that there looking at the also team championship aswell and looking at from that view shows he just not up to speed and maybe cut just like richie stanaway

marlons a ok race driver I feel that lotus f1 maybe sadly using him as a marketing tool to get the philippines more interested in motorsport. he was very lucky just to get a drive in WSR seeing that he has only won 1 race in gp3 he may progressed to quick aswell. he would properly have better luck over in the USA to be honest in formula mazda or indy lights

Floirendo tries mettle in Ferrari Challenge By Olmin Leyba (The Philippine Star) | Updated February 14, 2014 - 12:00am MANILA, Philippines - Veteran Filipino driver Vincent Floirendo revs up for his historic stint in the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli 2014, one of the most successful one-make racing series in the world. A two-time Driver of the Year of the Yokohama Philippine GT Championship Series, Floirendo will mark a milestone for Phl motorsports as he races on board his Ferrari 458 Challenge in the 2014 series’ inaugural leg in Sepang, Malaysia from Feb. 21-23. “Racing is my passion and more so now that I’m driving for Ferrari and representing the Phl. It’s a dream come true for me. It will be very exciting and of course, pressure para sa akin (pressure to deliver is there),” the seasoned racer in karting, circuit and Formula 3 competitions said. “It’s a level up for me; this will be my first time to race abroad so I’m going to feel my way through. But I’ll do my best to be able to give a good fight,” said Floirendo, who will be up against rivals from Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia and South Korea. Floirendo was formally introduced as the first-ever Pinoy bet in the Ferrari Challenge. He will be competing in the Trofeo Pirelli classification in Asia-Pacific side of the Ferrari Challenge, which will also have stops in Sydney (April 13), Shanghai (June 8), Korea (July 6), and Fuji (Aug. 24) before culminating in the world finals in Abu Dhabi on Dec. 7. “We congratulate Vincent Floirendo for taking up this exciting and history-making challenge for the Philippines. Ferrari and its official dealers are the only ones allowed to enter cars in this racing series. We will support him all the way and hope this inspires more Filipino drivers to participate in motor sports,” said Marc Soong, executive director of Autostrada Motore Inc., the official importer and distributor of Ferrari cars in the Philippines. Davao pride Floirendo will be using the new Ferrari 458 Challenge EVO, a package of aerodynamic improvements such as Manettino dial, CCM2 Brakes, dual clutch gearbox and more. Cars will be produced in Italy and flown directly to the racetrack in Asia. “For a first-timer, I think Vincent has the credentials and will do well,” said Soong. Floirendo is training in Clark and will fly to Sepang on Wednesday. www.philstar.com/sports/2014/02/14/1290222/floirendo-tries-mettle-ferrari-challengeWell we had Marlon driving for Lotus. Now we have Floirendo driving a Ferrari, well practically everyone is for that race haha. How about that?
