Your 4-3-1-2 is good. In fact, it's probably the perfect formation for us. I just feel it could be too narrow, since the wingbacks are the only wide outlets. Hence why Barcelona plays with 2 wingers under a 4-3-3. Despite that, they as false wingers that play ahead of a false 9.... so their formation acts more like a wide version of your 4-3-1-2 . Tactics are modern, with zonal marking, WBs, and an "overcrowded" midfield, which are always great (something Weiss hasn't learned). Your lineup is pretty good, but I'd put Schrock as the RWB since he is a natural RWB in his Bundesliga teams. Also, Caligdong is not a holding midfielder (same with Angel Guirado although his bro is) 4-4-2 must be scrapped. I'm not a fan of it since it emphasizes athleticism and strength over technique and a proper footballing brain. Teams in the Euros with the English definition of the 4-4-2 didn't exactly survive the tourney, etc. Plus, it kills the opportunity to play wingbacks correctly, since it will strain the midfield pivot of their traditional roles (although this can be fixed by changing formation roles...) I think we should go to a 4-2-3-1. It covers the field evenly, meaning the formation will win the numbers game (3v2; 4v3; etc.) in most areas. It's an easy transition between defending and attacking. We can also play it as a defensive formation like an Italian 4-5-1 and even as an attacking formation such as Germany and somewhat like Real Madrid. It's a very flexible formation, which is why lots of pro teams in Europe and lots of national teams like Korea, Germany, and even the USA have started playing. In terms of concepts and tactics, I believe our only option is to play a short passing poessession game like Barcelona and Spain. They are the shortest and smallest teams in Europe yet win only because of their style of play. Off the ball, we should hound the ball with exceessive 6 second pressuring. If they still have the ball after 6 seconds, drop back and defend zonally.
