It seems that some of us got their wish! The U23 team has its very own "Dan Palami" who can concentrate on the U23 team and ONLY the U23 team. Hopefully this new team manager has as much drive, desire, foresight and lets be honest, CASH, to further develop the "young" Azkals as Dan Palami does for the senior team. Yanson to manage Azkals U23 squadSun. Aug. 19, 2012 By Jerome S. Galunan Jr. | Watchmen Daily Journal The board of directors of the Philippine Football Federation had decided to give the management of the U23 national football team, which will see action in the Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar next year, to transport magnate Leo Rey Yanson. This was revealed Sunday by Ceres-La Salle Assistant Coach Ramon Janeo, as he claimed that the PFF Competition Chairman Cyril Dofitas arrived in Bacolod City last week to meet with Yanson for the initial talk on the issue. Janeo added that PFF President Mariano “Nonong” Araneta and PFF Secretary-General, Lawyer Rolando Tulay, will be arriving in Bacolod at the end of the month to meet with Yanson and finalize the terms and conditions of the deal. Among the justifications of the capability of Yanson to manage the team is the recent victories of Ceres-La Salle varsity team and Ceres-La Salle U19 over the Teen Azkals U19 squad. During the varsity squad’s win last August 8 at the home pitch of the University of St. La Salle, Joshua Beloya led the team with 2 consecutive goals in the first half alongside Aldrin Dolino’s share of goal for a 3-nil advantage. Prince Hanessen Anthony and Joel Bedia nailed a goal each to seal the match at 5-nil. On the other hand, Paolo Sanchez scored Ceres-La Salle U19 lone goal during the squads’ triumph last August 10 at the Ayala North Point ground. Aside from these successful match-ups, the PFF officials also noticed the remarkable performance of the Ceres Team in this year’s PFF-Suzuki Cup Visayas Regional qualifying. The team, likewise, became the tournament’s defending champion after it demolished Iloilo in the home-and-away finals. That was 3-1 in an away game played at the Central Philippine University in Iloilo and 9-nil in its home game at Panaad Park and Stadium. /WDJ www.pinoyfootball.com/articles/11101162/Yanson-to-manage-Azkals-U23-squad

That's better so that Palami won't be so busy and only focused on the seniors.

PFF team arriving October 9 to finalize Azkals-U23 mgmtOctober 3, 2012 By admindavid Leave a Comment By Jerome Galunan Jr. A team from the Philippine Football Federation will be arriving October 9 or 10 to finalize the talk on the Azkals-U23 management between the federation and the Yanson siblings, Ricky and Leo Rey. This was confirmed yesterday by Ramon Janeo, assistant coach of the Ceres-La Salle team, claiming that there are several issues to be ironed out and agreed on. A month ago, the PFF board of directors had decided to give the management of the U23 national football team, which will see action in the Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar next year. Among those expected to represent PFF are its president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta, PFF secretary-general lawyer Rolando Tulay and competition chairman Cyril Dofitas. Talks on management of Azkals-U23 shelvedOctober 11, 2012 By admindavid Leave a Comment Share via email By Jerome Galunan Jr. The supposed meeting yesterday between the team from the Philippine Football Federation and the Yanson siblings, Ricky and Leo Rey, for the management of the Azkals U-23 team has been reset to next week. This was disclosed yesterday by Ramon Janeo, assistant coach of the Ceres-La Salle team. The meeting that was previously set yesterday was aimed at finalizing the talk on the Azkals-U23 management and iron out several related issues. The team, likewise, became the tournament’s defending champion after it demolished Iloilo in the home-and-away finals. That was 3-1 in an away game played at the Central Philippine University in Iloilo, and 9-nil in its home game at Panaad Park and Stadium. On the other hand, the Ceres-La Salle XI is also up to represent the province of Negros Occidental in the forthcoming Smart Club Championship-Visayas Elimination slated November 7-12, in Dumaguete City. This team will be bannered by varsity players mostly from the University of St. La Salle and several selected players whose names are yet to be revealed. “We will announce our complete line-up when everything is finalized,” Janeo said. Ceres-La Salle’s intention to take another step into competitive football came after years of successful stints in local football tournaments. The tournament will also serve as a qualifying process of teams which have plans to join the country’s premier football league – the United Football League, Janeo said. “If we qualify in the Top 2 of the Visayas Eliminations, then we will advance to the next stage which is the Round of 16,” Janeo said. The Ceres-La Salle FC is expected to battle Visayas rivals Cebu, Leyte, Iloilo and host-Negros Oriental. Janeo said if Ceres-La Salle FC plays good game in the tournament, the squad will earn a slot in UFL’s Division 2. Ceres-La Salle will also be managed by the Yanson brothers./WDJ www.watchmendaily.com/sports/talks-on-management-of-azkals-u23-shelved/

If ceres gets to join UFL division 2, it wont be long before they can be promoted to division 1(In which they are very capable of doing), and instant rivalry with my Iloilo team Stallions FC, that would be great, Regional rivalry at its finest.

PFF: Better U-23 Azkals this timeBy Cedelf P. Tupas Philippine Daily Inquirer 9:32 pm | Wednesday, December 26th, 2012 Seeking to improve on its past campaigns, the Philippines hopes to field a better-prepared Under-23 side for the Southeast Asian Games that will be hosted by Myanmar in December next year. The Under-23 Azkals failed to end a 20-year wait for a return to the semifinals of the tournament two years ago in Jakarta, but notched an impressive win against Laos in the group stage—their first victory in the tournament since 2005. Stressing the need for improvement not only from the senior side but also for teams in all age-groups, Philippine Football Federation president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta yesterday said he and PFF national teams committee chair Dan Palami will be laying the groundwork for the program early to ensure that the squad will be at its best come December. Araneta said the coaching staff for the SEA Games will be totally different from the national team. National team coach Michael Weiss also mentored the Under-23 Azkals, who lost to Vietnam, Myanmar, Timor Leste and Brunei in the group stage two years ago. “We have agreed to take the direction that the coaching staff for the SEA Games should be different from the national team,” said Araneta. The core of what is seen as the squad for SEA Games team actually competed in the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy in Brunei early this year and also participated in the AFC Under-22 Championship Qualifying in Myanmar in June. The Under-22 side had an all-Filipino coaching staff, headed by John Carmona. Among the players in that team that played for the senior side and reached the semifinals of the AFF Suzuki Cup early this month were Marwin Angeles and Jeff Christiaens. Experienced campaigners Manny Ott and OJ Porteria are also expected to be part of the talent pool for the SEA Games. Unlike two years ago when they only went to camp in Japan less than a month before the tournament, Araneta said the Under-23 Azkals will be given more exposure before they plunge into action in Myanmar. sports.inquirer.net/78857/pff-better-u-23-azkals-this-time?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

By January, it would be deal to set up a pool for both Men's and U-23 teams. Considering availability is always an issue, have 30 to 35 players listed per squad. Kung sino ang pwede, sila ang isabak sa preparation tournaments and camps throughout the year.
Much better than putting together a ragtag crew in the last minute

Azkals coach Weiss says no to helming Philippine Under-23 squadKarl Decena, InterAKTV · Wednesday, January 30, 2013 · 1:51 pm Philippine national men’s football coach Hans Michael Weiss dismissed the possibility of him coaching the Under-23 Azkals team that will compete in the Southeast Asian Games later this year. “I don’t think so as of this moment,” Weiss said. “Because the experience in 2011 was just too much to handle both teams at the same time.” Two years ago, Weiss coached the Philippine team that competed in the 26th SEA Games in Indonesia. The squad’s campaign, led by senior national team members Jason de Jong, Manny Ott, and Roland Mueller, turned out to be a disaster, as the U-23 Azkals finished last in their group after losing four of five matches in the tournament. The team’s only win came against Laos, when striker Joshua Beloya scored two straight goals in the dying moments of the match to lead the Philippines to a come-from-behind 3-2 victory. According to Weiss, the U-23 Azkals will have a separate coaching staff. Weiss said he will still help the squad prepare by giving exposure to younger members of the Azkals pool in the country’s buildup for this year’s qualifiers to the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup. “It will be a young lineup already with the perspective of the SEA Games,” Weiss said. “All the young players and all the players who haven’t played so much recently will get their chance, which is also good.” Members of the Azkals pool who are eligible to play in the SEA Games include Ott, De Jong, Beloya, brothers Marwin and Marvin Angeles, Matthew Uy, Jeffrey Christiaens, OJ Porteria, and Neil Etheridge, among others. The 27th edition of the SEA Games will be held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar in December. www.interaksyon.com/interaktv/azkals-coach-weiss-says-no-to-helming-philippine-under-23-squad

Looks like the plan to give the management of the u-23 to the Yanson brothers did not push through afterall as current developments indicate that Dan Palami would continue to handle the U-23 team, for the 2013 SEA Games at least.
