Btw, I read that article stellarboy posted, last night, did anyone notice that he did not mention, long time NT veteran Jason de Jong, instead opting to include Manny Ott who, with contract probs, probably wont be as available as much as JdJ? How can Weiss exclude a guy who's always tried to be there more than some other? Yes, I do get concerned w/ his propensity for rough and somewhat late tackles, but thats a function of maturity, something he'll grow into still! Are there underlying reasons perhaps? I just hope there's no serious issues between the Coach and JDJ, this guy has the passion and the heart to represent the Phil. flag Not to mention his skill.

^ i agree. that would be a real loss if ever he refuses to play for flag and country due to a personal problem against the coach. i hope the pff and palami can sort this thing out if it's true that they don't see eye-to-eye

It seems the PFF is again a bit slow to invite prospective friendly opponents. I would love to have Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia to play our team but up 'til now no "official" word.
Btw, yesterday I saw a tweet saying the China PR is a GO. Anyone confirm?
We might wind up playing lower classed opponents if we can't get the better ones soon. I don't know PFF structure, but they need to start catching up to international football reality. They need to plan these thing farther in the future not 2 months prior.

Talks start on Azkals game in PanaadThe Philippine Football Federation and the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental are negotiating for a possible international friendly football tournament featuring the Azkals. In a text message sent to RMN Bacolod, Azkals team manager Dan Palami said that if the pitch at the Panaad Park and Stadium will be ready by last week of May, then the PFF is inclined to hold an Azkals’ game in Bacolod. Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. confirmed the negotiation between his office and the PFF. He said nothing has been finalized yet, but if it pushes through, the PFF will pay for the use of the stadium and will take charge of everything, including the selling of the tickets. Marañon, however, said they will try to ask for free tickets for the uncovered bleachers to be distributed to Azkals fans in Negros. Meanwhile, the governor said the province’s has a good chance of winning the bid to host next year’s Palarong Pambansa. He said the existing facilities at the Panaad and the Paglaum Sports give Negros an advantage against the other bidders, including Cebu. The successful staging of the 2012 estern Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet at the Panaad a couple of weeks ago, is a validation of the province’s capability of hosting a multi-event competition, he said. While he prefers to adopt a low-key position as far as lobbying is concerned, the governor is confident of winning the Palaro hosting bid. He added that the ongoing construction of the Provincial Cyber Center at the Paglaum Sports Complex will complement the plans of developing the football field and the volleyball and basketball courts at the site. The tracks, however, will have to go as all athletics events in future tournaments will be held at the Panaad, the governor said. He also announced that all Negrense athletes who won medals in the 2012 WVRAA will receive cash incentives from the provincial government. Gold medalists in last year’s regional meet received P5,000 each, P3,000 for the silver medalists, and P2,000 for bronze medalists. Executive Assistant to the Governor for Sports Angel Verdeflor said the payroll is being prepared for the cash incentives and they will give the incentives to the athletes as soon as the documents are properly signed.*NAB www.visayandailystar.com/2012/March/27/sportnews1.htm

RT @azkalnews Palami: China has already agreed but we might face their Olympic team, which I think is still very strong. oughest Azkals squad yet for int’l friendlies By Cedelf P. Tupas Philippine Daily Inquirer 10:25 pm | Tuesday, March 27th, 2012 2 share2 0 THE PHILIPPINE Azkals could parade their best team yet when they face a slew of powerhouse sides in international friendly matches slated in June in Manila and Bacolod. Azkals manager Dan Palami yesterday expressed confidence that Europe-based players like Stephan Schrock, Paul Mulders, Jerry Lucena, Dennis Cagara and Neil Etheridge will suit up for the national team from June 5 to 12. “We see no reason why they will not be available since it’s a Fifa-sanctioned international friendly dates plus it’s also the end of the season with most clubs in Europe,†said Palami yesterday at the weekly PSA Forum presented by Shakey’s, Smart and Pagcor. Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam have been invited to a friendly match on June 5 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium with the Philippine Football Federation hoping that one of the three Southeast Asian countries will be available. The Azkals plan to fly to Bacolod for a match possibly against Hong Kong on June 8 at the Panaad Stadium. The Azkals are likely to face China’s Olympic team for the “Independence Day Cup†on June 12 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. “China has already agreed but we might face their Olympic team, which I think is still very strong,†said Palami. All the matches are part of the Azkals’ buildup for the Suzuki Cup Asean Championships late this year in Thailand and Malaysia. sports.inquirer.net/38989/toughest-azkals-squad-yet-for-intl-friendlies

I guess it is the team preparing for 2013 AFC U22 Championship , that is the U21 team this year. Ok team but very different from China NT

Is it true? We'll face Hong Kong? in one of the friendly? Good start for Long Teng Cup 2012
What about the June 1 games? Have they filled it up?
Why kaya hindi NT ng China? Seems their national teams don't have tournaments to join in June. By the way is Chinese Super League already started? Do they have games in June? It might be a reason hehe

Can someone that knows answer this?
If we play the Chinese Olympic team which is a U23 team, will this count as playing a senior side, FIFA points or not? I mean will it count towards ranking points?
If not, my crazy idea would've been better. Invite Kuwait and bill it as the "revenge match" Im sure that'll pack the stands at the RMS(thats if they come anyway).
So is this June event going to be in a tournament format or is it just a bunch of friendlies for ranking points? OR is the Independence Day Cup a one game tournament just on June 12th? Sorry I'm confused, I thought it was a Long Teng type tourney.

wiking
Friendlies with youth teams do not count in the FIFA rankings. Only games between 2 senior teams do.
I think the games in June is just a series of friendlies held at home. The other teams will not be playing each other.
Actually I am a little disappointed in the team selection. At this point in time they should just be playing senior men's team only to gain experience. We should be competitive with our full lineup.

Ok thanks, I figured but needed confirmation.
I guess its really too much to ask from PFF at this time. I dont think the PFF has ever been this busy with so much in its plate both senior and youth. Hopefully as they gain more experience they can take a cue from the Taiwanese LT Cup, it should be better than playing a bunch of friendlies at least there is a tangible reward to fight for at the end.
I agree, we asked for the senior team but if China will only send their youth team, we should refuse. Lets play those teams(none senior) during training camp not these FIFA dates. And if we can ONLY get lower class or "in our level" senior teams, why not play our "B" team and younger senior team members so they can get senior side experience. By this I mean players like Misagh, Doctora, Barbaso, Leonora, Marwin, Burkey, Oliver P. etc, etc. (just like we did in the Long Teng Cup with Carli, the Hartmanns, Roland M, Leonora, Christiaens and Oliver P, that turned out great).

But why Hong Kong U-23 vs PHI NT during the 2010 Long Teng Cup is a counted in FIFA rankings?
I think bringing Kuwait here is difficult. This is because KUW and other Middle East countries are preparing for 2012 Arab Nations Cup which will start on June 22 and last up to July 5, 2012.
KSA is the host country for this.
Because of this expect they will stay there. If you want to play with them, we'll be the one to go there.

But why Hong Kong U-23 vs PHI NT during the 2010 Long Teng Cup is a counted in FIFA rankings? If the tournament has no age limit, you can go with a U-17 team and it still counts as your senior team, same happend with our NT (and the Costa Rican) playing in the Copa América, while technically it was a U-22 with some overage, it counted as the senior NT (even thought those matches didn't counted in FIFA rankings for us).

May I ask why it didn't count in the FIFA rankings? Curious...
