May I ask why it didn't count in the FIFA rankings? Curious... My bad!... I dunno why I had the idea they didn't (I remember hearing something about not being an official tourny for us, so they wouldn't... but maybe they just counted as friendlies... I have no idea)... but doing a research we even got 11 places down... LOL

It counted mrpmosh. It was agreed at that time that all matches in Copa America was going to be counted in the rankings and the fact that the youth team Mexico sent had some overage players included was enough to give it some credibility.
I don't know when this is going to happen but rumors coming from South America are indicating that they are considering expanding Copa America to Copa PanAmericana at some point in the future with teams from North America included. I don't know when this is going to happen, but Mexico will no longer be forced to send an understrength squad when this happens.

So Vietnam and Hong Kong is now confirmed? - For Vietnam, let's prove our win is not Tsamba during the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup
- For HK, we never win any single game from them, let's bring them their 1st lose
- Is China now confirmed? If yes where? If not then who?

Considering the possiblity of us playing HK, a Hongkong fan mentioned this in bigsoccer:
There is a problem, Hong Kong has issued the "Black" travel alert for the Philippines since the Hong Thai Travel hostage/massacre in Manila in 2010. Anyone traveling to the Philippines under the Black travel alert may not be able to acquire suitable insurance cover. We cannot play if we don't have insurance.
In a similar situation, South China refused to play Muangthong United in Bangkok when there was trouble and Hong Kong govt issued a red or yellow travel alert for Bangkok, because the Caroliners couldn't get insurance cover. The AFC then moved the match to Phuket.
I replied : Well nothing is final yet. Other reports mention Vietnam, Thailand and the Chinese Olympic U-23 team as the 3 teams that the Philippines will be playing in this time frame so stay tuned.
Also, the visiting HK Rugby mens teams did not have any problems playing in the Philippines last year, so I don't think this would be a significant factor, unless of course the HKFA makes an issue out of it.

China senior team could not probably play us because they will be playing against spain on june 6 ata or june 3. you heard me, SPAIN. you can check it out at fifa.com
Forget all the rumors. We still do not have a friendly on June. It will only be sure if it will be posted in FIFA.com..since it is a "FIFA sanctioned friendly"..so all the rumors circling around arent yet confirmed. well, maybe for the match vs. china u-23.

jaygee20gensaya. CHN vs ESP game is on June 3 in Sevilla, Spain. Still no news about this? Other Asian countries have enemies in friendlies until October. Baka maubusan tayo ng kalaban. No official confirmation from our invited countries

I don't think we're going to ran out of opponents. Remember its a FIFA MATCH DATE, thus all countries should be available. And for the world it is a big pond. If we can't find a Opponent here in Asia then find somewhere else.

600th post XD So the QPR, Fulham and Blackburn declined to go to PH? Haven't heard of news about these. Anyway still no official announcement about who will be our enemies there. The only thing confirmed is Panaad Stadium might be used for these match dates. Since it's 2 weeks. We could play 4 to 6 games (But only if they play on one stadium) para walang jetlag. Well if they declined our invitation can we invite countries from other confederations? hehe

Looks like the Azkals are planning to travel to Malaysia on June 2 acc. to this article: www.philstar.com/sportsarticle.aspx?articleid=796505&publicationsubcategoryid=69Azkals battle tough Malaysians in friendly By Olmin Leyba (The Philippine Star) Updated April 13, 2012 12:00 AM Comments MANILA, Philippines - Reigning AFF Suzuki Cup champion Malaysia looms as the first side that will test the mettle of the Philippine Azkals following the Pinoys’ historic bronze medal showing in the AFC Challenge Cup. “Malaysia has invited us to play a friendly in Kuala Lumpur on June 1 and more or less, we’ll (accept the invite and) go there,” Philippine Football Federation (PFF president) Nonong Araneta told The STAR yesterday. “I’ve had initial talks with (Azkals team manager) Dan (Palami) and he’s okay with this,” he added of what could be a rematch of the international friendly that two nations played at the Rizal Memorial last Feb. 29. The Azkals and the Tigers battled to a 1-1 standoff two months ago. The prospective gig could provide a good opening salvo and test for the Azkals as they get back to the pitch after breaking camp following their milestone campaign in the Nepal Challenge Cup. Enjoying an all-time best position in the Fifa world rankings at 148th, the Azkals will now train their sights on the Suzuki Cup set later in the year and their idea of a buildup opener is to challenge ASEAN rivals, led by 156th-ranked Malaysia Tigers, during Fifa’s June calendar days. The PFF has a standing invitation to Indonesia and Thailand for possible matches on June 5 and 12 in Phl. “I’ll be talking further to officials of Indonesia and Thailand when they go here for the AFC Council meeting on April 21 and 22 (to persuade them),” Araneta said. China has also been invited to come over but has yet to respond, according to the PFF chief. Araneta, meanwhile, said PFF’s technical people will go to Bacolod City after the AFC gab to assess Panaad Stadium’s capability to host one of the projected friendlies. “We might hold the June 5 match to Bacolod. We’ll send people to make an assessment and we’ll also require numbered seats,” he said. Panaad was the home field when the Azkals beat Mongolia last year, 2-0, in the first leg of the AFC Challenge Cup playoffs. The stadium was packed with 18,000 paying fans but for the Azkals’ projected return, only about 10,400 “seated” spectators will be accommodated, according to Araneta. _________ There has been no confirmation with the other dates as well as of yet and I highly doubt that the Chinese will be coming if the current tension continues between the two countries, in the Scarborough Shoal standoff.

I do think Malaysia wants to simulate the "home and away" series of matches if ever both of them meet in the knockout stages in the 2012 Suzuki Cup. With their draw against the Philippines a few months back in Rizal Memorial Stadium, I have a gut feeling that they would really want to test the Filipino booters if they survive a filled Bukit Jalil Stadium, more or less like the situation during the 2010 tourney when the PHI team battled Indonesia with a full capacity audience at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
As for the matches on the 5th and 12th, I do hope the invites would still be accepted, in spite of diplomatic tensions between China and the Philippines which has escalated following that recent standoff at Scarborough Shoal. As for Indonesia or Thailand, I'd go for Thailand as they are a better side than the obviously weakened Indonesia side that's at a high risk of suspension by FIFA.
I do wish this friendly with the Malaysia team pushes through as this can be a very good preview of the most likely outcome for the Azkals during the 2012 Suzuki Cup.
