The Azkals lost against Kanto Gakuin University 4-0. It was their first tune up game in Japan... Maybe the weather condition really affected their game.

They just lost to a better team. The japanese are technically sound players at any level. We would be more competitive with our full team but with mostly locals we were no match. It is a learning experience for them.

That is why we don't have to overreach our team's mentality. The core attacking elements of the team is basically intact, and they haven't even got a consolation goal I've played against Japanese Collegiate teams football/basketball in Fukuoka. I don't know how different they are, (Fukuoka vs Shizuoka) but Japanese players tend to not very physical. They are highly technical, like a ground ball passing game, are not afraid to take on defenders and one of the thing that you would notice immediately is that they run and run very fast and won't run out of gas until the end and did I say they run very fast? Yup, though I played with a multinational team (Mexicans, Brazilians, Peruvian), we would usually concede goals late into the second half of the game since we usually are out of air and would just try stay back and hold onto our early lead. Sometimes we succeed but most of the time we lost ;D

It is a learning experience for them. it was a humbling experience for some of the mindless fans who think the azkals is the answer for the philippines' thirst for sports glory. as i have said before, the azkals is a great team. the players are good and understand the game very well. give them 3 to 4 yrs of playing together and they'll definitely give the best teams in asia a run for their money. but for now, dont expect anything spectacular from them. 4-0 against a japanese university team? no excuses.

i agree with you Beho this time. and as well as nardybonnevie. a lot of fans just jumped the bandwagon. let's face it, we are all Philippine Team fans but, Japan is a POWERHOUSE in asia. even if it is a college team, but they bleed football, it runs through their veins. importante there is a lesson learned and they played on a condition somewhat close to mongolia's.

Just like our NCAA or UAAP Teams beating SEA National Basketball team At least with this loss, the team can still find some adjustments on what went wrong..
