Lack of preparation has been our problem as of late. Could it be a sign that we need a new manager other than Sir Palami to help rebuild our U21/U23 squad? if there was no sir palami we would not be discussing the performance of the U21, U23 and the Azkals A-teams . on the contrary there would be nothing to discuss at all . Totally agree. Nothing was happening in Philippine football before he came along. He not only was responsible for bringing football to where it is today. He also quit his lucrative job as the local CEO of a Belgian based engineering company, to devote more time to the Azkals. You won't find a team manager who is as committed(including financially) and dedicated to the Azkals as he is. It would be nice if the PFF could find someone who would be willing to carry the burden for the U-23 team, but he took it on, because nobody else will. It would be nice if Charlie Cojuangco, who like Dan is a member of the PFF Board of Directors, would be willing to take on this responsibility especially since his father just happens to be the head of San Miguel Beer, but he has not offered to do so.

Nobody is questioning his dedication, his passion and contributions. We all know what he did for PHI football. It would be utterly foolish to think otherwise. The main point here is that it would have been ideal to have someone other than Sir Palami take over the managerial aspect of our youth squad.

Thanks for posting for me stellar. How the heck did you do it from twitter? Using Firefox or Chrome, once the photo appears from the Twitter status, just right click the photo and select "Copy Image Location" (Firefox) or "Copy Image URL" (Chrome). Just paste it between the " " tags, and replace the "https:\\" to "http:\\" as the former will not be able to show the image as it needs to connect to a secure server (which a current ProBoards bug). That's my Azkalero Geek Tip for you, guys! Anyway, I am still optimistic of the next games of the young boys.

I just hope this team will continue to train after they get home from Brunei. Some of our opponents in this tourney will be seeing action in another u21 tournament this year which is the Thanh Nien Cup.

Some surprising results from the underdogs in Brunei. Gives us hope to spring an upset in our 2 remaining games.
kulaspero,
I understand what you are saying. In the Philippines the position team manager involves a certain financial commitment including hiring a qualified but relatively expensive foreign coach, and not just player management. Unfortunately no one else is willing to take that burden. If you know of anyone else, please feel free to contact the PFF. I am sure Dan will be more than willing to hand over the reins.
As for the person handling the day to day managerial responsibilities in Brunei, jonny has mentioned that Graeme seems to have been given the job.
BTW, good tip stellarboy. I have been trying to learn for the longest time how to post a pic here and had no success. Do you use the same method to post a video?

Another Azkalero Geek Tip for you: If you want to post a Youtube video, copy the URL (link) of the Youtube video and place it between "[youtube]" tags. As of now the default aspect ratio is 4:3; widescreen 16:9 videos will be letterbox (i.e. black bars above and below the video).

Cjeagle . Just a thought. I would think PFF and Sir Dan himself would be in that position to find someone willing enough to share the burden of managing the youth team. After all, it is the governing body. If you have any information regarding offers being made by the PFF, kindly share it.
Moving forward, I think we are going in the right direction with our U13/14 headed by Coach Bing-bing and U19 Musang headed by Charlie Cojuangco. However, I've always wondered even before this tournament started if there was any transition between U19 Musang and the current HBT squad.

kulaspero,
Yes it is nice that they are intent on forming youth teams now. They apparently formed the U -14 team with the goal of reaching the U-17 World Cup by 2018 or so. That is why they are emphasizing the grassroots development aspect in their announcements. Question is will they have the funding to carry this through.
Right now there doesn't seem to be any coordination between the various youth teams. It sort of looks like everyone is pursuing their own agenda and there doesn't seem to be any transition from one youth team to the next. That is why none of the Musangs seem to have graduated to the HBT except for Manila based kids like Gabby Borja. It would have helped if Coach Djordjevic talked to Coach Rozen of the Musangs to see which players looked promising enough to tryout for his team. It would help his scouting efforts, especially since Rozen conducted a nationwide search for players to include in the team.
Personally I think they should get a foreign technical director(maybe Germany will give us one) to help coordinate and organize the effort of the various youth teams and ingrain a system of play that all the players will be familiar with, from the youngest to the seniors.

It's nice that someone pointed out the lack of coordination and continuity among our different youth teams. My guess is the different youth coaches aren't even on the same page when it comes to their coaching philosophies.
BTW, Fitch Johnson Arboleda is now based in Manila. He played for the UE Red Warriors in the recently concluded UAAP season. A former Musang who might be worthy of being considered is Dan Villarico who's playing well for Queen City in the UFL based on his stats.

stellarboy,
can you post those tips and suggestions in either site issues or image/videos forum so that they can be readily available in case they are needed. I was just thinking it might be difficult to find this particular page in the future.
