UFL has been scheduling matches on Jan 21 at Rizal .
There is something suspect about this charity match , I dont think it has support from UFL.

Google translate of a Korean article confirming the arrival of Icheon Citizens FC for a friendly with the Azkals: Teams two thousand citizens and 21 Filipino team and chinseonjeon(XI) K3 League 21 days followed by two thousand Filipino citizen soccer teams and has a friendly ago. I was about to say that a match against Incheon Utd of Incheon Korail (div2) would make more sense especially against a national team.
But now that it's confirmed that the match will be against Icheon Citizens FC, I'm almost sure that not even half of the stadium will be filled. (The CFIM match was fairly well-attended.)
No offence to Icheon Citizens FC, but I'm judging based on the nature of the league they play in.

...But given that Metro Manila has a sizeable Korean community, and soccer is very well known in the country, I think the Koreans audience would also have a sizeable number in Rizal during the game. And no matter what tier the club plays in, maybe it will also give them a "piece of home." Who knows?

And no matter what tier the club plays in, maybe it will also give them a "piece of home." Who knows? I'm more concerned with the kind of team Icheon Citizens FC is. I have a long list of reasons why I'm not a fan of the upcoming match, but it can be summed up with how Icheon is described as an amateur team. Maybe I'm making hasty generalisations, but I just want the Azkals to play against tough teams. Again, no offence to Icheon FC. Maybe they are a tough team, but I'm judging according to what's written on paper. And I know that this is a benefit match so the opponent shouldn't matter, but considering that this is also in preparation for the Challenge cup and Suzuki cup, we need to play against tough teams.

I wouldn't dismiss Icheon's chances if I were you guys. Korea is way ahead of us in football development and a third tier team in Korea doesn't mean it would be inferior to the Azkals or a team in the 1st division UFL. You guys have to remember that we were just dominated by a 4th tier league team from Spain and our UFL champion team just got demolished 10-0. Same thing when we visited Germany against lower division teams. A lot of "amateur" teams in Europe and elsewhere, as described once by former coach McMenemy are of a higher level than our UFL teams. At the very least, Icheon Citizens Fc should be competitive against the Azkals and provide them a quality game. After all, if a less than full strength amateur Korean youth team studying in the Western Visayas can give us fits, how about a full strength 3rd tier team of adults, who are currently among the league leaders in the K3 league.

Yes, but none of the teams that pounded the Azkals were amateur teams. They were at least semi-pro teams. The amateur Korean Visayan amateur team that gave the Azkals fits played against an undermanned Azkal squad composed of players that have mostly been displaced by better players today. They were players that are not even used in international competitions. I'm still careful not to dismiss Icheon Citizens FC as inferior; After all they are still a 3rd division team from a country that tied against Australia and Japan in the previous Asian cup.

Even thailand 2nd tier club is better than most clubs in our country... remember the 8-0 our azkals suffered in a friendly in there preparation for the AFF Suzuki cup 2010...

The Azkals who played the Korean based Western Visayas youth team, included players like Borromeo, Del Rosario, and the Younghusband brothers. They might not have included the full strength Azkal team, but neither will the team on Jan. 21. The UFL might not even release a lot of our players on that date because of conflict with League games.

There are rumors that the u23 are suiting up for these match, with some additional players coming from the senior teams, is this true? Some of the under-23 roster are actually in the UFL already. The most likely scenario will be the collegiate players sprinkled with players that have been allowed by their mother clubs to play for this one-time event.
