Good view on that cjeagle. I learned about that in Chinese class way back in high school. The Boxers threatened these foreign powers. The Empress Dowager Tzu-hsi supported them all the way but greatly defeated by the eight-nation alliance of Japan, Russia, Britain, France, the United States, Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy. Hmmm... sounds like the foreign-based Azkals, don't you think?

stellarboy,
Actually the Empress was playing a double game, supporting the Boxer rebellion at the same time initially trying to protect the foreigners in their legate missions which resulted in imperial troops also attacking boxers in some instances fearing a foreign invasion. The Boxers were massacring Christian priests and their Christian Chinese converts with the help by the way of Muslim Chinese as they considered them as some kind of foreign fifth column that was corrupting China. So blame for human rights violations can be placed on both sides, if you ask me.

hi alluz
My prediction is either a draw or a close win for the Azkals. I wonder where Weiss will place James Younghusband at, centerback or midfield?

The admin's guess is that the score will be a 1-0 win for the Azkals! Angel Guirado on target in this one.

I think this year's version of the Azkals, including the Younghusbands, et al, because of the various experiences they have had since then is much better than last year. They are more fit, have gained a lot of experience and has more experienced reinforcements from Europe. So I am cautiously optimistic. However they do have a different coach so we will see how that affect things. Right vimjonk.

cjeagle;D you're some sort of history academic? That Empress Dowager is a classic example of political "namamangka sa dalawang ilog" Maybe she's "Dowag" er... to choose which side to stand on. LOL With our enhanced scoring firepower as compared to last year, I'm dreading an event like the recent Man United vs Basel CL match

You need a Windows Media Player plugin for your browser to see the video, but all I get is an ad for the match.
