Mark Hartmann not starting? Don't worry, you'll get there, perhaps against Macau. I agree, since Mark's not starting we might have a more counterattacking starting lineup.

In all the article I have read, I keep on noticing Coach Weiss emphasizing the speed that our team transitions from defence to offence. However, I am really more concerned from our past few games since he took over how slow we transition from offence to defence leaving our defence vulnerable a lot of the time.

Predicting(or rather hoping) a hard fought draw. We might find ourselves with our backs against the wall for the most part but of course if we had a full strength lineup it would be a far different story.
I have a feeling we could see the younger Hartmann called in during the second half especially if we go behind a goal.

Dragon head shot cup to keep Hong Kong on behalf of attack is not enough to win the Philippines(google translated) (in this photo: Team captains (L-R): Macau, Philippines (Aly Borromeo), Chinese Taipei (Chen Po-liang), Hong Kong (Chan Wai Ho) paper.wenweipo.com [2011-09-30] Hong Kong's Wen Wei Po (Reporter Guo Zhengqian Kaohsiung reported) Hong Kong Dragon Cup team head shot, "the Philippines" can not win! To play again as defending the Hong Kong Dragon cup full, today 16:30 Kaohsiung Stadium will be unveiled, Ying Han has recently made rapid progress in the Philippines, although coach Liao Junhui will blunt attack on behalf of the defensive, but look around the entire branch team in Hong Kong, even Only defender Di Tingfeng have goals in a season record of Hong Kong, Jin Zhang Hong Kong team will be a severe test force attack. Background due to the domestic legs of more than Neiyuan not travel with the team, the heavy responsibility of defending the Dragon Cup, can only fall on a public home-grown Chinese players who last sent a team under the age of 23 played in the Hong Kong team, casually next to 4:2 defeat the Philippines, but opponents called up this year, more than the "returnees" players, the strength of the shrunk, the Hong Kong team Jinzhang difficult Wensheng. Fire only Diting Feng doubt "Iftar" The Philippines this year, 46-year-old German-born coach Wes charge pointer, long ago, to pull the team training camp in Germany, many of array "returnees" is very sparkling resume, including the group effect was Chelsea prepare the Philippines Seoul and James, also from Spain, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands sub-league players to form a "Boxer Rebellion" Dragon Cup play this year, coach Weiss said the team after the World Cup qualifiers after the baptism both have considerable strength and experience to grow stronger to meet the challenges of any opponent. Face of the raging Chinese Taipei and the Philippines, not to play the strongest team of the Hong Kong team, defending the road can be described as full of obstacles, coach Liao Junhui three teams that were very close to power, war intelligence intense than the last lot. Chinese Taipei has a home advantage, no doubt fighting ranks first among four teams of the heart, and the Philippines, "returnees" the mystery of the players have the same strength, the Hong Kong team in three lines, the most abundant in defense manpower, Wuwei Chao and Chen Weihao combination gives people the full confidence, but the striker's ability to score quite worrying, judging from the 20 man squad, there are only Di Tingfeng in a season in Hong Kong "Iftar", the focus of front-line striker Chenzhao Qi and Li Weilian, etc., since the opening quarter were issued not to pay convincing performance in the face of the Philippine team reborn, the extreme test of the Hong Kong team's ability to score. The training also occurred yesterday's episode, the last as a result of blockages stadium flooding again occurred in the Kaohsiung Arena, and the Hong Kong team also failed to down the grass practice last wave, can only be drilled on the sidelines.

... You can laugh at me tomorrow after the game, but I'm guessing coach is going to run a 5-4-1 or something similar. He's going to jam the back and have as many as 6 or more guys in front of the net and hope for a good counterattack. Here is a quote from an article I just posted at the Azkal news thread: “Their switching from defense to offense is quite slow and we hope that we can utilize these weaknesses with our fast switch from defense to offense from our side,” Weiss said. He knows Phil is creative and fast enough to do it and he's done that against Kuwait among others before. If I'm right you're giving me a player in managerzone stellar The way Weiss mind works, it's more like 3-5-1-1. Weiss hates defense and in-love with Pep's style. The wing players in more conservative mode and utilizing 2 holding mids. Weiss trademark of Barcaesque backline would again be utilized and then he would complain that the team is slow in the transition from attack to defense. The Weiss quote you posted means that he would be aping Mourin... err.. Macca's strategy Phil's creativity as a lone ranger is a remnant of the Macca system (Bulpin system for those Macca haters in the forum )

They are making references to the Boxer rebellion, in reference to our European based players. Isn't that the time when the Chinese Boxers declared war on the 8 nation foreign diplomatic missions in China.

^^^
Why would they ;D that happened in the Mainland and Japan and Russia was part of the 8 nations alliance.
IIRC, that was not diplomatic missions but rather religious (i.e. Christians) missions and missionaries exempted from local laws and edicts.

Woo hoo! Just two more hours! This will definitely be a good test for our team. On paper we should do quite well. It's up to the team to live up to their collective talent. I'll be tweeting my thoughts during the match later, hopefully the live stream will work well. I had a tough time posting on twitter and here during the Suzuki Cup, so I'll stick with twitter for now and come back here after the match. Good luck, Azkals! Do us proud!
On twitter I'm @callouscomics!

vimjonk,
Just mentioned it because it was brought up in the previous article. The Chinese have long memories and the nationalist Chinese of Taiwan especially came into existence when they were still in mainland China, because of the losses and indignities forced on them by foreign powers after the boxer rebellion was defeated, when China was still under Imperial rule in the last days of the Qing dynasty. Their republic under the leadership of Sun Yat Sen was founded because of this and Taiwan is where they fled when the communists took over.
As for the legate missions in China, they served as both diplomatic and missionary centers near Beijing.
