Tweet from Aly Borromeo: Now we're all complete.. Feel more like a team! Hong Kong on the plate tomorrow! #LongTengCup
I'm just a little worried about tropical storm "Quiel" ("Nalgae") since it is expected to make landfall in the Philippines by the weekend. As always whenever a tropical system hits the PI then it will surely affect Taiwan as well. I remember last year that the kickoff between PHI vs. HKG last Long Teng Cup was delayed by 15 or 30 minutes due to heavy rains brought by typhoon "Juan" ("Megi"). They had to wait for all the water to drain down the pitch when the rain stopped by that time. I do hope the weather system will not affect a lot to the tournament. Fingers crossed.

<Football> Taiwan-sponsored International Tournament: Long Teng Cup 2011
Updated: 2011/09/28 21:26 correspondent: Gerard (Google translated, edited for clarity) Football in Taiwan this year is really a wave after wave. Taiwan is no longer a football desert, with many of its people like football more and more. This year Taiwan hosted more exciting football games: the Asian Challenge Cup qualifying playoff early this year, the Olympic soccer qualifying, Olympic women's soccer qualifying, the World Cup Qualifiers in July, the U15 East Asian Championship, the AFC President's Cup and so on. This end of September will be more lively, because it will be the second edition of the Long Teng Cup 2011 that will be opened on September 30. Do you still remember the first year of the very exciting Long Teng Cup? Long Teng Cup in 2010 was Taiwan's most prestigious international competitions after two decades. After the successful hosting of last year, the country continues its efforts to organize the second event this year. This year's venue is still the city's National Stadium, the same four teams will be participating, in addition to the Chinese teams, including defending champion in Hong Kong, the Philippines and Macau. Schedule by the 30 September to 4 October, the same venue is the Kaohsiung National Stadium. Although the participating teams will be the same as last year, however, the situation with the four teams last year has had a huge difference. For the Chinese Taipei team, in recent years, the progress is obvious, currently ranked 172 (top 36 in Asia), who beat Malaysia at home which was a memorable battle. The Chinese Taipei head coach, Korean Lee Tae-ho, led the first time in the ROC to participate in official international competitions. Through his wide range of training, physical strengthening, discipline and formation moves changes, and many others, will allow the Chinese Taipei team have a new look. Chen Boliang has professional experience and had a lot of progress in recent years, the Roche brothers hold the line of the Chinese team, the overall strength has surpassed last year. The Hong Kong team, after the World Cup Qualifier defeat, has been re-determined. They have been willing to support the local teams in Hong Kong, so that several key players to participate in the national team can send the most powerful lineup in recent years to meet the challenge, and to for the purpose of defending the title. Hong Kong team is led by the head ( note: caretaker/temporary) coach Liao Junhui,.The lineup, such as Lu are appropriate, Wuwei Chao, Chen Zhaoqi, Li Weilian are all endeavored in general, and can be said that out of the four teams, the world number 156 (ranked 28 in Asia), Hong Kong is the most popular. As for the 165th in world ranking (Asia ranked 32), the Philippines, participated in the Long Teng Cup last year, to participate in the Suzuki Cup in Southeast Asia at the end of the year. [They had] outstanding performance in penetrating into the semi-finals, with the most exciting game was to beat the force of (defending champion) Vietnam and Singapore. In this year's Asian Challenge Cup, the Philippines had also advanced to the finals.
Currently led by the German coach Hans Michael Weiss. [The team] has the most high-profile lineup with the Younghusband brothers, [both having] a British father and Filipino mother, who both played for the reserve team of Premiership giants Chelsea, and have very good technique and experience. The 191st in world ranking (Asia top 43), Macau last year was a student-based team, although having a loss. They will still send young people as the backbone of the team to gain experience for this purpose, however, the head coach of the team, with a great background Macau, is former Mr. Football in Hong Kong Leung Wing. It seems that this year's Dragon Cup will be more exciting than last year, in which everyone should not miss. For football fans, show support the Chinese Taipei team and cheer! Tweet from Mark Hartmann: Not starting tomorrow ... :/ oh well fsss
He will apparently not be part of the starting XI tomorrow. So, what will we speculate then? Will we have the Phil Younghusband-Ian Araneta striker lineup again or either Angel or Misagh? Let's see then.

Let's see then. You can laugh at me tomorrow after the game, but I'm guessing coach is going to run a 5-4-1 or something similar. He's going to jam the back and have as many as 6 or more guys in front of the net and hope for a good counterattack. Here is a quote from an article I just posted at the Azkal news thread: “Their switching from defense to offense is quite slow and we hope that we can utilize these weaknesses with our fast switch from defense to offense from our side,” Weiss said. He knows Phil is creative and fast enough to do it and he's done that against Kuwait among others before. If I'm right you're giving me a player in managerzone stellar

Acc. to my Hongkong contact, the HK team expect a better result than last year as they are bringing the best team possible. We will find out from the very start where we stand in this tournament. It would be nice if we could spring a surprise. I think it will depend on whether our new defensive line can mesh in time to hold off the Hongkong offensive forays. Too bad Mark Hartmann is not starting. With him and Phil Y at forward and Guirado as attacking mid, I think we have the advantage when it comes to the offense.
