Ahh yes we get the best team first, crap Although I know HK always sends its U23 for the LT cup, I know its gonna be the toughest team in this tourney. There's 2 things the Azkal coaches could do. One, play this game with the U23 in the majority to get them some playing time against a tough competition to get them ready for the SEA games, or... two, play with the best senior team we've got with a few sprinkling of u23 players and really try to win the cup. For winning's sake. I hope they go with the latter. Go Azkals!!

I would like to have the seniors dominate the goalkeeper's position, the defenders and the wingers (in case of 4-3-3). We can have the U-23's dominate the forwards and center midfields. I wanna put captain Aly Borromeo, Anton del Rosario, Jason Sabio and a U-23 player (in place of either Rob Gier or Ray Jonsson, if they're not available) in defense. I'd put Simon Greatwich (the rumored U-23 captain), James Younghusband and another U-23 in the midfield. Chieffy Caligdong and another U-23 in the wings. Either Ian Araneta, Angel Guirado or Yannick Tuason would be my strikers. Either Roland Mueller or Paolo Pascual could play as goalkeeper. I know Neil Etheridge isn't available, and I'm not keen to Eduard Sacapano.

Id love to see Mueller, just to see if how he plays but hate to speculate on the team composition. I hope they release the team list soon. The other U23 in your mid should be de Jong Against a strong HK team, maybe they'll play a 4-4-2? Or "park the bus" 4-5-1.

Haven't thought of de Jong lately. He plays quite well in the midfield, too. But I do hope his Dutch club FC Dordrecht would release him for the tourney, if he hasn't had inked a deal with them. I also didn't think of Phil Younghusband as a striker, too. If they are to "park the bus" against HK, I hope Phil has enough stamina to prevent being penetrated by their strong midfielders. By the way, according to what I'm researching right now, HK youth teams are prone to using the 5-0-5 ("kick and run" position). Midfielders aren't needed for attack, and long balls are used. As far as I know, the stamina of their strikers and defenders are way too high than most of our senior ones. If you could just realize how Rob Gier is very slow at center back, and how Angel Guirado exerts too much when pushing himself forward to the box.

FYI According to 2 member here(vwtron and mikeh), de Jong is most likely just practicing with Dordrecht because he isnt on their roster yet. If so, getting released wouldnt be a problem.

I'd take the opportunity to use the newer guys more here. We know what we have with the Eurofenders, I'd like to see what we have with the others.
I'd like to see Roland and Kevin play here. By the time the tournament comes in, Kevin would have recovered from his injury and this would provide him with field time to which his club can observe.

I don't think Kevin Ingreso could come this year. He once said in an interview that he has to undergo therapy for about a month for his injury. He also said he will commit to the Azkals early next year. As for Mueller, I'm not yet keen to it if he would be part of the starting XI for the tourney. He is to arrive this weekend and that means he will just have around 2-3 weeks of training. That's quite short, but let's see if he would be donning the #1 jersey at that time. However, if Coach Weiss insists on using a U-23 player as GK, I would put Paolo Pascual there and make Christopher Camcam as sub.

Here's something we already knew more or less. Fil-German to replace Etheridge
A NEW member of the Philippine Azkals national football team will most likely take the place of Fil-British goalkeeper Neil Etheridge when the team sees action in the Long Ten Cup next month. Roland Mueller, a Fil-German goalie, who plays for MSV Duisburg in the second division Bundesliga league, is coming over this weekend to start training for the Azkals. Mueller is one of two newcomers, whom coach Hans Michael Weiss is tapping for the Azkals. Mueller will be available for team inspection when the Azkals resume training in the coming week. The Azkals will have joint practices with the national under-23 team, which is now in the final phases of its tryouts. After the Azkals lost their home-and-away encounters with Kuwait in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, Etheridge informed the coaching staff that he may not be available for the Long Ten Cup and the Southeast Asian Games due to his commitments with Fullham. The 23-year old Mueller, who is from Cologne, may also wind up playing for the nationals in the coming 26th Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia. The Long Ten Cup will start on Sept. 30 in Taipei, with the Philippines set to meet teams from ChineseTaipei, Hong Kong and Macau. For now, we still have to determine if Mueller will indeed be part of the starting XI in place of Etheridge. Maybe by the time they begin training on Monday we would be able to know the final line-up.

For now, we still have to determine if Mueller will indeed be part of the starting XI in place of Etheridge. Maybe by the time they begin training on Monday we would be able to know the final line-up. Why wouldnt he though? Etheridge and Fulham isnt going to risk injury to play for a minor competition such as the LT Cup. So without him you pick, Sacapano, CamCam, Pascual or Mueller? We already know Weiss is high on the guy too. The only other choice is Pascual but that's if Weiss wants to really get ready for the SEA games. Then again Mueller, according to some news reports will be in the U23 also. He's suppose to be in the PI this weekend too. That's a wasted trip if he does not play, I would love to see how he compares to NE! Its the perfect time to try him out now. If ever NE becomes a no 1 GK for Fulham, its probably gonna be hard for him to come more often.

Here's an even more intriguing question. It seems we wont have the "eurodefenders" and other player based there. Who do you think is going to be in the lineup for the Azkals in the LT? Sabio has started and subbed before so he might play center back with Aly. Araneta at forward with Phil? Guirado at attacking mid with Caligdong, JYh and? Burkey has play center mid before will he do it again or here's a long shot NB play center back with Aly and Sabio at LB? Two big tall center backs? Whats your take, just to pass the time before they really release the roster?

Whats your take, just to pass the time before they really release the roster? For the CB position, yes, I would presume Jason Sabio subbing in for Rob Gier. I think Gier won't be available either due to commitments with Ascot United (for FA Cup) or paternity leave (his first child is due 2nd week of September). I'm not sure who can sub for Ray Jonsson at LB. Jerry Barbaso or David Basa perhaps? I would like Ian Araneta, the top scorer of last year's LT Cup, to be FW with Phil Younghusband. Get Bahadoran and Tuason as subs. Araneta has just to work with his stamina by the way. Agree with Angel Guirado at MF with Caligdong, James Younghusband and Jason de Jong. As for Nate Burkey, I think he's now more comfortable as FW than center MF. If they're available, put Patrick Hinrichsen and Manny Ott at the subs. I know this is just wishful thinking yet. Let's see what Coach Weiss will do then.
