Here's an even more intriguing question. It seems we wont have the "eurodefenders" and other player based there. Who do you think is going to be in the lineup for the Azkals in the LT? Sabio has started and subbed before so he might play center back with Aly. Araneta at forward with Phil? Guirado at attacking mid with Caligdong, JYh and? Burkey has play center mid before will he do it again or here's a long shot NB play center back with Aly and Sabio at LB? Two big tall center backs? Whats your take, just to pass the time before they really release the roster? I had the same idea with you. Burkey really looks like CB type. I disagree to that, I feel Burkey is comfortable as defensive MF or striker. He's too quick for a CB.

Hello gents! Its ok to disagree with each other. After all its all conjecture until the real roster comes out. Having said that, Ive always felt, and as much as I love Jonsson and Rob G, eventually someones gonna have to take over. The reason I mentioned Nate B for CB is because of his huge size(at about 6'2+) and quickness and strenght(over RG). Note I didnt say he could be better than RG specially with veteran leadership and experience. If you have followed Aly B's career, you'd see that he also plays mid and have actually scored goals in UFL games. He and Anton D are great utility players capable of moving around in positions. Having said that why not try Nate at CB too? Move the smaller, yet quick Sabio at LB, since Jonsson is unavailable. Theres plenty of midfielders available for the LT cup even without the europlayers anyway. Having two large Center Backs would be a great advantage in crossings and corner kicks defensively(providing NB can play the position) Whats your take? NOTE: Unfortunately Robs Ascot U is out of the FA cup. They lost within the last 10 min of the match!

Seeing as we've converted Aly from striker to CB before, I wouldn't be surprised if the coaching staff looks at that possibility.

Having large CBs can be a great advantage when those defensive corner kicks are badly needed. I was actually frustrated on Rob's performance against Chinese Taipei last LT cup. Although he is very good on those corner kicks, I felt he was tad too slow and that actually was the reason the defense went way deep that Chinese Taipei exploited the loopholes which made them score their only goal. Maybe it's really possible to have Nate Burkey as CB for that, although as I said earlier that he prefers at the mids. I know he's quick and perfect for stopping Hong Kong's "kick-and-runs". I also agree with Jason Sabio at LB. We don't have to worry about the midfielders. We have a couple of 'em. ;D I do hope Rob Gier could join, if he would serve his paternity leave earlier than usual.

You got to see the LT Cup? I hope, at the very least, its available through live streaming. The Azkals should be in training today. Hopefully we get info on rosters and such. Man I cant wait! BTW we havent even talked about Misagh, maybe we can see him play more for the LT Cup. Im really curious how he'll handle himself. He does quite well in the UFL. Maybe his play will translate into international matches well, just like PYh and Caligdong's does?

I didn't watch the LT Cup 2010, but I've got good Taiwanese friends who told me about what happened during the matches. If you have read the latest article from CTFA, they're still negotiating for TV coverage, which meant the tourney's fixtures weren't televised whole last year. So we'll be waiting for the Taiwanese broadcaster who will do the coverage and eventually they will let ABS-CBN acquire rights to broadcast it in the PI.
Misagh Bahadoran is good to part of the starting XI as striker against Macau, not HK or Chinese Taipei. I don't think he has the ability yet to penetrate the strong defense line of HK or the snappy defensive mids of Chinese Taipei. Macau is very weak defense-wise, so it's good that Misagh can take advantage.
I'm excited for the final line-up as they will train this week. Let's see then.

I just thought that the local broadcasters who've televised the Azkals from Mongolia, of all places, that they would have acquired rights to film and show the match in the Philippines already. As far as I understand, the CTFA broadcast deal is a local(Taiwan) only deal. I could be wrong. 1 month to go!

According to my reliable source, ABS-CBN is now negotiating with CTFA and the Taiwanese broadcaster (I think it's the Taiwan TV network), for them to acquire rights to broadcast it here in the PI. That's why ABS-CBN posted a "To Be Announced" announcement of what channel the LT Cup be shown. Hoping they would be allowed to film. And I'm speculating they might be sending local commentator Bob Guerrero there too.

I know right? ;D
Anyway, I've been told by a Taiwanese friend that the tickets for the Long Teng will be released around middle of September. They will be priced at 100 Taiwan dollars (more or less 150 pesos). They will be distributed through IBON systems (sort of like a vending machine-type) on their 7-Eleven convenience stores. This is for those who want to watch the game live in Kaohsiung.

"Weiss even disclosed that PHL's lineup for this year’s Southern East Asian Games in Indonesia may be known only three weeks before the event since they still have to know the schedule of their Fil-foreign players. Given this circumstance, Weiss could not promise of winning gold in the SEAG." Source: filipinofootball.blogspot.com/2011/08/azkals-coach-phl-needs-comprehensive.html
This would mean that we will not be able to know the full U-23 line-up before the Long Teng Cup. Would this also mean that the majority of the starting XI will be from the senior team?
