In ABS-CBN report of Ms. Dyan Castillejo-Garcia interviewed Angel in Spanish then translated for us, well, this will lessen the translating job of his cousin, Rafa Garcia. Angel is very much happy in the team considering his first time in the tourney along Jerry Lucena(#29), he hugs almost everyone in the team. Oh, BTW what's the relation between Dyan's husband and Caloy and Rafa Garcia?

Match Recap: Azkals v Bangladeshby Charles Hizon on April 1, 2011 Watched the replays a few times, and I have to say their performance was overwhelming. Seems that Weiss finally got the right combination, at the right moment- when they badly needed a performance. The passing was terrific, great movement without the ball and the closing down of players are second to none. Us watching, we felt that if we played against Indonesia at this level, we could’ve easily gone away with something! Here are some of my notes: Ray Jonsson is one of the unsung heroes He was just brilliant for me. He shut that left hand side, he pushes forward on to the final third with some good wing play, and his delivery is top quality. One of these days, a Jonsson cross might just win something for the Azkals. He's got two good feet, he can cross using either- he brings confusion on that back line of Bangladesh. He played a major role in that Araneta goal. He acted as a decoy there, confusing defenders whether Ian will lay it off to him or not as he's put himself in a very good scoring position. For me he's one of the top performers for the Azkals on that game, level with Lucena and Angel. Chieffy's final ball Again, he can dribble, he has the skill, he can get past defenders -no doubt about that, but that final ball just lets him down all of the time. 2-3 times he got on the by line and he ended up shooting weakly on the near post (which is closely covered by keepers). SQUARE IT! Float it in the penalty box for once- Araneta, Yanti, Angel or James might be waiting there to finish it off. Angel- Shoot on sight Looks like he's been instructed to shoot whenever he's got the opportunity. He's got the most attempts on goal of all the players on the pitch! He's got an eye for goal- I think he can be one of the most prolific strikers the Philippines has ever had. 2 goals in his first 3 appearances for the National Team. Very impressive considering that he scored as a midfielder. Currently Philippine's top scorer in the Challenge Cup. Conclusion The Azkals are becoming stronger and stronger as the games go by. They were converted from a defensive team to an attack minded one, they are beginning to take advantage of the power of long balls- which did most of the damage on Bangladesh back four allowing their wingers and forwards to find open spaces. Angel and Lucena controlled the center, dictated play, provided brilliant distribution of the ball- in short they won the midfield battle. The Azkals are slowly getting there- just have this feeling that they are still finding the best positions for their most creative players.
