Weiss coaching extension issue is now costing us to lose some potential candidates for our friendlies on Feb 6 and preparations for AFC Challenge Cup. I hope there will now be a news about the training camp and the possible Feb 6 opponent

is losing against hungary demoralizing? or we'll just be honored that a quality team invited us?
we learn from them... analyze the game... make adjustments... identify individual and team strengths and weaknesses... create gameplans.. relate hungarian style to our possible opponents on the challenge cup..
hahaay sayang... where's "losing is part of growing"?... i think it was an opportunity wasted...

expose the players... (let the angeles' or even sacapano and/or cuaresma/pascual, reichelt, wolf, porteria play)
scout for more pinoy players...
soo much to do and learn and grow than losing...

Azkals set 2 friendlies in FebruaryBy Cedelf P. TupasPhilippine Daily Inquirer 1:45 am | Thursday, January 17th, 2013 The Philippines will be leaving no stone unturned in its buildup for the AFC Challenge Cup Group E qualifiers in March at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. A training camp in the Philippines and a couple of friendly matches have been lined up next month for the Azkals, who are targeting top spot in the group that will enable them to reach the main tournament in the Maldives next year. The Azkals will face Myanmar in Yangon on Feb. 6 and could make a trip to Vietnam on Feb. 10 for another friendly. The friendly against Vietnam is part of an earlier agreement with the Vietnamese Football Federation to play home-and-away matches against the Philippines this year, said Philippine Football Federation president Nonong Araneta. The priority, however, will be fielding a well-prepared team for the AFC event from March 22-26. The Azkals play Brunei in the opener and tangle with Cambodia two days later. Turkmenistan will be the Philippines’ last foe on March 26. Azkals manager Dan Palami hinted that among the Europe-based players, only defenders Rob Gier and Juani Guirado will be called up for the February friendlies. sports.inquirer.net/82331/azkals-set-2-friendlies-in-february

So only Gier and Juani among the Euro-based players will be called up in February friendlies. . . Well, the thing I see it, the composition of the roster will be exactly similar with their friendly match against Singapore in Cebu last year when they fielded local-based Azkals + Gier / Juani. . .

With limited budget the PFF in hand, they can't be selective. Accepting invitations from these countries with air fares and accomodation being provided is a previlege. Thus there's no need for PFF to delve finances down to their pockets. Playing friendlies against Myanmar and Vietnam is still a better option than staying home and missing these necessary tune-up matches in time for Challenge Cup.

I've checked the list of their squad for UAE game on Feb 6 in Hanoi and looks like most of them are newcomers since they haven't been capped in their recent games, this could also be their line-up if our game against them push through.

Another article about the Azkals' first game for 2013 Azkals kick off season vs Myanmar XIBy Olmin Leyba (The Philippine Star) | Updated January 17, 2013 - 12:00am MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Azkals will meet a familiar regional rival – Myanmar – in their first international appearance for 2013. The friendly will be held on Feb. 6 in Yangon. “We were invited by Myanmar to play in Yangon and we’ve accepted it,” Philippine Football Federation president Nonong Araneta told The STAR yesterday. The date has been designated “friendly match day” by the International Football Federation (Fifa). During such days, clubs tend to release players to their national teams, making possible the availability of Azkals pros based in Europe. “This match will serve as part of preparations for the AFC Challenge Cup for both the Azkals and the Myanmar team,” Araneta said. The Pinoy booters are slated to host Group E of the Challenge Cup qualifiers on March 22-26 at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium while the White Angels are staging Group A on March 2-6 in Yangon. The Azkals and the White Angels go at it again some two months after squaring off in the group stages of the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup in Bangkok. Sportshub ( Article MRec ), pagematch: 1, sectionmatch: 1 Phl XI won that Group A matchup, 2-0, on goals by Phil Younghusband and Angel Guirado, sealing the Azkals’ entry into their semifinals for the second straight tourney. That victory over the Burmese was also the first for the Pinoys since 1995. Phl had previously fallen to Myanmar six times, although the Pinoys had managed to score a pair of scoreless draws and a 1-1 standoff in their last three encounters prior to the 2012 Suzuki Cup. Meanwhile, PFF officials said the federation and coach Michael Weiss are still negotiating for a new contract. The PFF had offered Weiss, whose two-year contract expires this month, an extension of six months. www.philstar.com/sports/2013/01/17/897934/azkals-kick-season-vs-myanmar-xi

Every Arab nations have one or more sports club named Al Ahli. We played Qatari one, and the runner up in 2012 ACL was Saudi's Al Ahli.

Well, the thing I see it, the composition of the roster will be exactly similar with their friendly match against Singapore in Cebu last year when they fielded local-based Azkals + Gier / Juani. . . Yes , could be with some few changes . This was the team against Singapore in Cebu : Marvin and Marvin Angeles, Ian Araneta, Emelio Caligdong, Joshua Beloya, Jason Sabio, Jeffrey Christiaens, Jason de Jong, Ray Jonsson, Rob Gier, Andres Crisanto Gonzales, Christopher Greatwich, Roel Gener, Nestorio Margarse, Misagh Bahadoran, Carlos Alberto Martinez de Murga, Eduard Sacapano, Jose Paolo Pascual, Denis Wolf, Patrick Reichelt, Mathew Uy, Demitrius Irving Omphroy, James Joseph and Philip James Younghusband and Juan Luis Guirado. Jason Sabio is back in USA and will not play , Ray Jonsson is in Iceland. I got my doubt if Margarse , Gener , Pascual , Marvin Angeles and UY will be included ? Misagh is injured ?
