Reaching out to the Filipino-American Community
Coach Ernie Nierras acknowledges that reaching out to the Filipino communities in Southern California for support is very vital.
“The So Cal Fil-am groups will be very important not only for this event, but for future events of this nature. It is important that we establish a good relationship with them”
“This event is a great example of what happens when Filipinos work together. Forget crab mentality. This is "Kaya natin to" mentality. From searching and locating potential Malditas, finally getting in communication with them, assuring them that this camp is legit, and all other challenges, it's great to see how creative Filipinos can become when we want to help each other. I do not think everybody involved in this project truly understands the positive impact this creates. This event will change lives. This event will bring Filipinos together. This event will promote women's football and create jobs in the Philippines. This event makes me proud to be a Filipino. The best part is I know we can even do better in the future.”
