FAM wants Safee to quit Pelita Jaya By VIJHAY VICK Oct 17, 2012 THE FA of Malaysia (FAM) will ask national striker Safee Salee to consider his position with Pelita Jaya in the rebel Indonesian Super League (ISL). While clearing the air on the 28-year-old’s availability for Harimau Malaya, FAM secretary Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad stressed that the national body would also advise other national player who get offers from ISL clubs against making the switch. “The most we can do is advise them and we will sit with Safee to discuss his future with Pelita Jaya,” he said. “We have received information that several M-League players have received offers from ISL clubs. If this is true, then we will give similar advice to the players, even more if there are national players. Safee’s international future was in question after the All-Indonesia Football Federation (PSSI) informed FAM earlier this month that Pelita Jaya had been suspended for playing in the ISL. This came despite a resolution at a joint committee meeting last month attended by rival Indonesian football factions, FAM deputy president Tengku Abdullah Shah and representatives from Asian Football Confederation (AFC) where it was decided that the ISL would be officially recognised in 2013 and that it would merge with the Indonesian Premier League. “FIFA has given the two sides a Dec 10 deadline to reach an understanding. If FIFA steps in, then Indonesia’s participation in the AFF Suzuki Cup could be in jeorpardy. “As for Safee, we have received clearance by AFC to include him. They have been entrusted by FIFA to handle the matter. Plus, even Indonesia have called up eight players from ISL,” Azzuddin added. www.sports247.my/2012/10/football-fam-wants-safee-to-quit-pelita-jaya/

Fakri offered playing contract in Portugal Striker Ahmad Fakri Saarani will attend trials, and then sign a six-month contract with Portuguese third division club Atletico Sport Clube next month Malaysian international Ahmad Fakri Saarani has been offered a chance to attend trials with a third division club in Portugal once the AFF Suzuki Cup is over. The former Harimau Muda forward, who turned out for Felda United in the Malaysian Super League (MSL) this season, was approached by football agent Marco Guimaraes to undergo a five-day trial with Atletico Sport Clube, and has agreed to accept the invitation from the Terceira Division outfit. The trial however, is only a formality as the club’s head coach is reportedly impressed enough with the 23-year-old’s ability after watching him on video, and the club has already prepared a six-month contract for him to sign on. “I showed some videos of Fakri playing and it didn’t take them long to decide,” Guimaraes told The Star. Fakri, who is training with the national squad at the moment, will head to the club’s base in Lisbon as soon as Malaysia’s participation in the regional tournament comes to an end. Guimaraes, who had earlier engineered teenage midfielder Nazmi Faiz Mansor’s move to SC Beira-Mar in the same country, also confirmed that another six members of Ong Kim Swee’s Harimau Muda team have been identified for trials with several Portuguese clubs in the coming months. The list of the players will be revealed by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) soon. www.goal.com/en-my/news/3896/malaysia/2012/11/09/3513854/fakri-offered-playing-contract-in-portugal

Isn't Safee Sali actually with Arema FC in breakaway Indonesian Super League? If Indonesia (the PSSI to be exact) gets suspended by next week, I think Safee will be in trouble even if he is on loan to Johor, as it is always possible that Arema will have to recall him when his loan spell runs out. He might even be banned from playing for his national team if he stays contractually bound with the Indonesian league.

You're right, steamroll. But I'm concerned with his involvement with the Malaysian national team if the PSSI gets banned by FIFA if their infighting with the KPSI still continues, as his current parent club Arema is under the Indonesian league. He will definitely get suspended for playing for your team should the Indonesia federation get sanctioned. EDIT: Still FIFA and the AFC have all the rights to hold off international (read:non-Indonesian) players to play for their national team if they are contractually bound in a banned country, even if they are loaned out to another club outside Indonesia. It would have happened to our players Phil and James Younghusband if they would have been signed with Jakarta 1928 FC last year. Good thing they decided to go with the local UFL instead.

Harimau Muda prospect for 2013 * Harimau Muda A : U23 - Ong Kim Swee - Europe Tour * Harimau Muda B : U22 - Razip Ismail - S.League * Harimau Muda C : U21 - Mat Zan Mat Aris - Malaysia Premier League Ditch S-League, look elsewhere."We need to rethink our participation in the S-League next season. "I will suggest to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) that we carefully consider this and instead go to either Slovakia or Brazil." Those were the words of Harimau Muda coach Ong Kim Swee (pic) at seen in Singapore's TODAY. I remember writing about the pros and cons of our youngsters participating in the S-League on June 29, 2011 as seen here. Sadly, my sole reason of starting this blog - for it to be an archive of all my stories - has taken a backseat for the urls linking to my old articles in The Malay Mail are "missing". But I do remember saying our team will be "exposed", adding the Singaporeans will learn more from us than we would from them. And slight over a year later, it has turned into a reality. No disrespect to the teams playing in the S-League but our Harimau Muda lads need a bigger platform and a different environment to push themselves further. I'm sure the Singaporean players would appreciate such a fact if they were in our 'boots'. This brings back the question if Kim Swee's opinion was given any thought prior the FA of Malaysia and the FA of Singapore agreeing to the 'swap deal'. Then again, was Kim Swee even given an opportunity to voice his opinion prior the deal was sealed? Or was it a situation where Kim Swee was told about it and had no choice but to agree to it? Hopefully, the stakeholders will listen to Kim Swee this time around. There are many other ways we can establish and continue our good football ties with Singapore but certainly not at the expense of the national team. Then again, I'm just another journalist. I'm sure the coaches and officials know best. HD says: One thing for sure, bak kut teh and char kuey teow way better in Malaysia than in Singapore. Period. hareshdeol.blogspot.com/2012/08/ditch-s-league-look-elsewhere.html Razip takes charge of Harimau Muda BPETALING JAYA: The FA of Malaysia (FAM) have appointed former Kuala Lumpur coach Razip Ismail to take charge of the Harimau Muda B (Under-19) squad. The FAM have also lined up a playing stint in Turkey later this month for Razip to prepare the Harimau Muda B squad for the S-League assignment.
