The Status Box
After our Admin's From the Admin column, I make my own column called "The Status Box" where I post everything technical has been changed on this forum, technical issues that we are trying to address and some geeky stuff you might appreciate.
New Theme
You may have noticed that we are testing our a new look theme. We're trying to bring back the light background so it would be easy for your eyes at least, and give the new-look forum a new energy. Hope you like it.For existing users, you must change from the old gray theme to this new look by going to "Profile" on the menu bar above. From the Profile page, click "Edit Profile" then go to the "Settings" tab. Select "UsapangFootball v4" from the Forum theme settings and click "Save account settings."
Live Chat App
New settings have been placed for our Java-based Live Chat app, requiring users to register to this forum before using our chat. This is to prevent any posers to infiltrate the chat.Shoutbox
We are still testing the new Shoutbox module for the new version of ProBoards, found below this forum page, in place of the old sidebar shoutbox in our old look. We'd appreciate any comments and greetings from here, but please follow forum rules as the moderators can now easily remove any pesky trolling and flaming messages from there. Some Geeky Stuff
Remember the Jabulani that was the official ball of the 2010 FIFA World Cup? It gained criticism from players, like Brazil's Julio Cesar, which compared it to a "supermarket ball that favored strikers and worked against goalkeepers." The ball was attributed for its poor drag and unpredictable performance.NASA has been studying all this criticism about this ball. When a relatively smooth ball with seams flies through the air without much spin, the air close to the surface is affected by the seams, producing an asymmetric flow. This asymmetry creates side forces that can suddenly push the ball in one direction and cause volatile swerves and swoops and this effect is referred to as "knuckling".
They concluded that the Jabulani, with its relatively smoother surface, starts to knuckle at a higher speed of 45–50 mph (72–80 km/h). This coincides with the typical speed of a ball following a free-kick around the goal area making the effect more visible. (Source)
Words of Wisdom
Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked; for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds
the righteous.
