narko,
As per their mandate, I understand why the PSC's focus is not only in football but also in other sports where many South American countries, are quite strong. Many of them are even stronger than us in basketball, our favorite sport and exchanges would be beneficial as well in that sport. The PSC should also consider contacting other countries in South America, who are strong in other sports like baseball where countries like Venezuela, are quite strong and have many players in the Major leagues.
I hope the PFF is receptive to this exchange as they have a lot to add to our program. Sending coaches to train there is an excellent idea and occasional exchanges between our teams at the youth and men's level would also be beneficial. As I have mentioned in other threads, constant exposure to stronger teams will eventually strengthen the level of football of any squad, and those South American countries mentioned has probably one of the deepest and strongest levels of competition worldwide at every level. Tieups between professional clubs should also be encouraged as it is the development of our local league and their ability to develop players from their youth systems, that will determine how much we will improve as a football nation, in the future. Finally, if they are willing to send technical directors and coaches to help improve the grassroots program in the Philippines, that will probably have a more lasting effect than any other contributions they can make.
As an example, Brazil is the country the Japanese football federation, have modeled themselves after, and you can see the dividends in their program decades after that decision was made and the cooperation agreement between the 2 federations was implemented. With our common Hispanic heritage and cultural ties to that continent, I don't see any reason why we can't
translate that, to help us obtain the help we need to help us move forward.
Finally, to change topic, with regards to athletics, swimming and other Olympic Sports in general, if you have any further communication with the PSC, why don't use ask them, to consider contacting one of our rugby players(I forgot what his name is at the moment) who is also an instructor at the Australian Institute of Sports. For such a small population, Australia have quite a large footprint in the Olympics(especially in swimming) and I am sure this Fil Australian has a lot to add to our program if they take advantage of his experience in training athletes.
