Jurado Named to Philippine Women's National TeamSAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's soccer senior All-American Megan Jurado was selected to the Philippine National Team earlier this week. Jurado is one of 26 women looking to help the Philippines qualify for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup. Jurado and her Malditas teammates will gather from May 1-18 at Turf BGC in preparation for the AFC Women's Asian Cup qualifiers in Dhaka, Bangladesh, May 21-25. The competition in Bangladesh is a qualifying event for the 2014 AFC Women's Asian Cup, which awards five berths into the Women's World Cup in Canada. The Malditas, who are in Group B for the AFC Women's Asian Cup qualifier, will face Iran on May 21, Thailand on May 23, and Bangladesh on May 25. Only the winner of the group will move on to the main draw of the AFC Women's Asian Cup. Jurado and the Malditas are looking to become the first-ever Philippine team to qualify for the Women's World Cup. The San Jose, Calif., native completed her Aztec career this past fall by guiding SDSU to a 21-2-1 record (7-0 MW), helping it win the Mountain West regular-season and tournament championships, and leading it to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. Jurado led the team in goals (15), assists (9) and points (39) en route to All-America and MW Offensive Player-of-the-Year honors. goaztecs.cstv.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/042513aaa.html
