I'm from Davao, but I'm not sure I would be able to watch this match because July 1 falls on a weekday and I have work that day. Nevertheless I will follow this match well, if not fervently. If the Azkals arrive by June 30, well, let's see if I could meet them as I'm sure they'll stay in Davao City. Tagum is an hour away by land.

Good news but the big question is, is it televised?!
Hopefully we'll have some "local" and U23 players involved(Uy, Mark Hartmann and our young UAAP defenders, etc.).
Add: 8:30am really??

It won't be televised live; it will be utterly expensive to set up an OB Van there in such a short notice. But surely, the regional news teams of both ABS-CBN and GMA will try to cover the event, I'm told. As for the players coming, Ace Bright and Kat Liscano will inform our social media pages throughout the week. 8:30 AM, yes, I'm told by the LOC in Tagum City that's the only timeslot they can accommodate the match, as there will be a track-and-field event happening afterwards, plus they don't have the proper lighting fixtures installed yet there.

It's a good start for football in Mindanao especially in Davao Region. Who knows if that Sports Complex is fully finished and ready to host a friendly game, it might be the venue of Azkals first home game in Mindanao BTW how many is the capacity of the venue?

Didn't you remember? I mentioned in the Infrastructure board that the grandstand only has 3,000 seating capacity, if they follow FIFA standards. Been seeing photos of the venue. It's quite smaller than it actually is. But the provincial gov't has been saying they are going to expand the seating if they're encouraged to host international matches. The only problem with Mindanao hosting is security. Several countries still impose travel warnings towards their citizens travelling here on the island, which is massively ironic because the peace and order here in Metro Davao is high.

Well even here in Manila, we heard that Davao is well known for high security measure especially in Davao City by the policies of Mayor Duterte. Davao is one the best cities here in our country Well I hope they'll expand it. Well if there will be a good attendance for the match. I hope the provincial gov't of Davao del Norte will expand it.

Friendly Azkals game heats up DavNor’s 46th anniversaryPosted on July 2, 2013 by DavNorPR Davao del Norte – The friendly match between the country’s national football team Philippine Azkals and the Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office (DNPPO) squad, pumped up the celebration of the 46th founding anniversary of the province. Under the sweltering heat of the sun, the Azkals and the all-star PNP team of the province slugged it out at the oval of the state-of-the-art Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex, to the delight of over 3,000 spectators. The DNPPO did try to drive the ball harder but they were no match to the overwhelming power, speed, and stamina of the Azkals, who easily settled the score at 6-1. But, the local spectators did not feel bitter that their own team lost the friendly competition. They jumped in jubilation when their home-grown team scored their only goal during the game. Yet they seemed to enjoy more every time the Azkals successfully kicked their powerful soccer shots to score a point. “It is an honor to be here. Thank you for the very warm welcome,” Azkals hero and Team Captain Chieffy Caligdong said, after obliging to photo ops and signing the sweat-soaked shirts of the fans. The members of the national team immediately conducted a football clinic after the game, in order to increase the skill levels of boys and girls in the sport. Aside from providing an entertainment offering for the bountiful 46 years of existence of the province, Governor Rodolfo del Rosario said he invited the Azkals to drum up the interest of the Dabaonons to football as a sport that is very much suitable to general physical attribute of the Filipinos. “The way to go for the Filipinos is football,” he said. “Dyan tayo may pag-asa.” The governor also recognized the widest participation of all the sectors in the annual Davao Walk, which preceeded the anniversary program. Over 5,000 individuals joined the charity parade. “The alay davao walk is our annual sacrifice, symbolizing the dream of generations past, the unity and cheerfulness of our people, and the journey along Daan Matuwid,” he said. davnorpressrelease.wordpress.com/2013/07/02/friendly-azkals-game-heats-up-davnors-46th-anniversary/
