“Let’s just enjoy the moment tonight,” said Stajcic. “It’s a special moment and a historic moment. First of all to beat Vietnam but second of all to make the first final ever in history is a massive occasion."
“We’ve reached two semifinals this year — the Asian Cup which was truly amazing, and the SEA Games where we won a bronze medal. Tonight, we’ve shown we matured and evolved and beaten, for me and I’m not saying it lightly, a really top class team.”
“So you know it shows that we’ve come a long way but you know I’m greedy and I’m hungry for more and I know that this is just a stepping stone again,” said the former Matildas mentor.
“I’ve said that earlier in the week but it’s another stepping stone for this team to be growing in becoming better and better and that’s important as we evolve to become better every time that we play.”

We are the Champions!!! in Football Finally after decades of heartbreaks, I finally can say that. Finally! After all those semis heartbreaks with the men's side. Happy to see some people on the stands earlier (and last Friday). Hope this victory will rekindle the enthusiasm for the local footy scene! Props to you btw for keeping on posting. I'm sure some of the lads visit the forum from time to time but just don't post.

I'm sure some of the lads visit the forum from time to time but just don't post. Aside from the nearly 9,000 in attendance at Rizal, livestream numbers from the official PWNT facebook page were pretty impressive and peaked at over 47,000 and those numbers don't include the ones who watched the livestream on youtube instead. I bet a lot of those livestream numbers came from abroad particularly in the US. On social media, it is funny how many Fil Ams are posting pics of their young girls saying that they plan to make that team when they grow up.

Actually I still hope the PFF can convince world class players like Fil Ams Sam Hiatt and Aly Watt of the OL Reign of the NWSL(top tier league in the US) as well as Aston Villa's Fil Brit Mayumi Pacheco who plays at the highest level in England to join the team. They can help elevate the team to a higher level if they were added to the Filipinas and possibly spring some surprises in the WC next year.

An emotional Stajcic labelled tonight’s triumph as his best moment in football, as his team performed on the big stage despite playing their seventh game in 13 days in this tournament, after a three game tour of Europe beforehand. “That was just exhilarating, to have that performance and this crowd…football is alive in the Philippines and that is all that matters,” beamed Stajcic post game. “For them to get through this gruelling schedule, 10 games in 25 days across two continents. “To finish with so much heart and so much spirit and determination is a testament to them.” “This moment is number one for me right now.”
Stajcic encouraged his team to enjoy the moment but to also focus on the bigger tournaments ahead, in what is an exciting upcoming 12 months for the Filipinas. “We have climbed a little hill tonight, we conquered South East Asia but there are bigger mountains ahead, in the rest of Asia and the World Cup next year. It’s a great hill to climb but there are bigger battles to come.”

I really hope that this win will re-ignite our men's team to excel again. For sure, they're inspired with the women's team success. Hope they'll sustain the momentum and raise the bar more to be at par with the best teams. Excited to see them as regulars in major tournaments with high chance of becoming champions
