In case JPManahan is reading this, he might want to make a correction in his article: www.soccercentralph.com/news/martin-steuble-signs-mls-side-sporting-kcSteuble is not the first Filipino national team player in MLS. That would be Demetrius Omphroy who was drafted and made his debut with MLS side Toronto FC in 2011. He didn't last long as he was waived in the same year, primarily due to complications from his Multiple Sclerosis condition.

legitimately happy for Steuble. i'm a follower of MLS, and SKC is one of the best teams in the league. in fact, they were MLS Cup champions last season! considering the fact that the MLS Cup is the biggest competition in MLS, it speaks volumes about the quality of the team. i really hope Steuble can step up his game even more and be a solid player for the team for years to come

Maybe he didn't consider Omphroy because he was not yet an Azkal when he played in the MLS. I forgot about him. But he wasn't capped then before playing for the national team. EDIT: Martin has officially played in a MLS regular season game for Sporting KC, albeit in a brief substitute appearance in the 89'. Being in a club that is contending really helps him (and us). Depending on how things shake out in the postseason, he could be available for the Suzuki Cup.

Martin Steuble was rewarded for not joining the Peace Cup by being given his first start for Sporting Kansas yesterday in a 1-3 loss to Houston in MLS: He was however subbed out at the 66' From reviews I have read in US forums, he didn't exactly stand out, with some comments describing his performance as ineffective. But that might have been because the whole team was ineffective, after losing 1-3, which affected his performance as well.

Since Schrock is out with the national at the moment. I think Steuble could step up and take his role.
