Hello everyone,
I wasn't quite sure whether I should make a new thread to introduce myself, but seeing as I have a few questions to ask I figured it'd be better to make a thread of my own than to just post in the other thread.
Anyway, my name is Werner. I'm 26 years old and I'm Belgian. I recently ended up in Cebu City, working and actually enjoying the city a lot. The people here are very friendly, the food is great and the weather's warm. There is however one thing I really miss from Belgium: football.
I've been looking around the city as I go around for work, but so far I've not seen anyone play football around here. I also don't know many people yet in this city, so I'd love to get to know some football enthousiasts around here or just people who can point me in the direction of any teams. I know of a few (Cebu Queen City of the South United, Inter Cebu FC, ...) but I have no idea if they are looking for any players or not.
I'm also not particularly looking for any high end teams or any UFL tryouts or any sort of that. Any team with regular training and some ambition will do. I love football competition and especially tournaments, so it'd be nice to have a team that enjoys competitive plays and signs up for cups. In Belgium I played quite frantically from the age of 5 right until I was 20. I played for some good youth teams, including those of RSC Anderlecht (current national champions) and FC Brussels. I was always mostly used as a winger/second striker/offensive midfielder, but I can help out at almost any position. Unfortunately I'm also quite a fragile player, as injures often troubled me and shortened my youth career. However, when I was about 23-24, I was able to return to football, so things have been looking up the past years. I've mostly played indoor football in recent times, but I'm no stranger to field football and given some time and training, I'd definetly be able to do my part.
So, in conclusion: is there anyone out there who can give me some more information? It'd be much appreciated
PS: Glad to be part of this forum! Now that I'm here, I'll definetly be following Philippine football, as live champions league games start way too late
