the overrated d0ctora didnt impress me.. and f0r someone to say that he w0uld win us the cup is hallucinating.. Of course he didn't because he's crap! Good mobility but apart from that, he's crap! Speaking of which, where is akosiabab, because it's time for him to literally eat crap!!!

Used substitutes, De Jong, Porteria and Daniels. . I think Dooley is prioritising these players as they are with the team since day 1 of his tenure... Just wondering What would Cagara and Mulders felt after being left out, they too have sacrificed a lot for the sake of serving national duty there in Maldives... Just wondering how would Palami felt when Dooley preferred Sato and Doctora over players whose release from their respective Euro clubs was done in painstaking manner.. I've gathered Palami went heavens and earths in convincing Euro clubs. .. I don't know what's up with Mulders but Cagara might not be fully fit. Even if he is, Sato fully deserves to keep his place especially after what he showed against Afghanistan. Very matured performance and player in general.

Ouch! That was bad. Now we need to not just annihilate Laos, but we need to beat Turkmenistan as only one win will just not cut it.

I have a feeling that Goal Difference will be a huge factor for us in the group and this could be our key to advance.
They must win big at Laos and have a good result at TKM (draw or win). Imagine if AFG lost at TKM and win at Laos by small margin, GD will be the factor.
Fingers crossed for our team.
Our team's finishing must be really improved.
I love to see that our team didn't accumulate cards and we get only one.

I wasn't able to watch the game. Many of you here are complaining at the lack of finishing. Did Reichelt play? Maybe Dooley could use the Schrock-Reichelt pairing up front, just like what Weiss did in one of his experiments.
But looking at the reputation of Afghanistan, shouldn't we be happy that we got a point? Again, I wasn't able to watch the game.

Saw the game last night, and man, Im satisfied somehow, eventhough we didnt won the game. My thoughts:
1. We have a superb midfielders, probably the best in this tournament. Going into the game, Afghanistan switch their game from possession into long balls, since they know they just cant breach that midfield wall easily so they resorted to long balls. They way steuble, Schrock and even Lucena bullied their midfield showed that we controlled the midfield all through out. 2. Our wing backs were superb as well. Sato and Rota showed composure with the ball on offense and in defense. If you notice in the 2nd half. There were lesser shots on goal by Afghanistan. There were lesser crosses. Possession were always disrupted by Rota and Sato. 3. Our defense were great, though there were instances in which their offense seems to trouble our CBs. There were great coordination between the CBs and steuble (our Holding mid). You guys are right in choosing Lucena at CB. It was a no brainer decision. 4. All players are physically fit. --- Against Afghanistan which showed relentless attacking in the first half, we showed that our players fitness are on a different level. The fact that Afghan players gave up a lot of shots and possession to Schrock and the rest of our midfield during the later part of the game, means they could have gassed out. Remember, this same team that the Azkals fought last night played against quality opponents such as kuwait, Kyrgystan, etc. 5. Balot was a lost last night. No disrepect. 6. As much as we had great overall game last night. We need better finishing from players other than PYH.
Against Laos, we should really pressed really well. As much as possible score many goals. im seeing that dooley might integrate Mulders and cagara to the system to that game against laos. We just cant afford to not have them playing in this tournament. We need them if in any case some players of their position incur yellow cards. We need them for depth. As for Schrock he seems to be effective in the RW. He gave the Afghan RB a lot of problem when he switched to the RW. I love Steuble in that position man, hope he doesnt get injured or incur any cards.

Does he wants his Euro players play immediately knowing theres a risk of losing due to unfamiliarity or settle for the existing players (for the meantime) who are familiar with the system. If you ask me, dooley did the right thing in inserting Sato, but I dont know about Doctora. I was also hoping to see Mulders partner with Steuble/Schrock in this new system.

I think most are disappointed due to looking at the tournament as a whole and honestly we could have won due to all the close chances the team created in the second half. But we just couldn't get it into the goal for one reason or another.

Told a friend earlier that tomorrow's match against Laos should be a full-on attack. Given the talent level of the Afghans, they sure didn't look invincible and the Azkals could've won by two or three goals.
However, we could've lost by just as much, especially in that loose first half. The Afghans surprised our back four with a lot of counter-attacks and had some good chances at goal. In fact, I thought I was watching the Azkals of 2010, only this time they were a bit taller and were wearing red. Good thing the coaching staff was able to adjust at the half.
Glaring observation: The lack of finishing. Schrock had a good line towards the end of the match, but overdribbled it. There was also an instance where a defender had a clear shot, but muffed it. And yes, the crossbar is still our worst enemy.

They gassed out really early. Probably bcoz they played a lot of high ball pressure and long balls. Or perhaps they were exhausted by Schrock and steuble's relentless pressure. Anyway I hope Chris Greatwich is fine, damn de jong gave up a lot of balls. Hehehe

That shot by sato, if went in is world class. Laser.
I didn't saw the presence of Balut. The "ex-defensive midfielder" JdJ has more influence at offense and all 3 attempts are not bad. (di rin nakaboundary si JdJ, no YC!)
Finishing is needed to be unlocked in this tourney. Phil-lar must be on form. Mulders is there to support him. Our crosses is a bit high for our midfield to head it home.
We suck defending set pieces. Our weakness.
I hope Cagara and Mulders is ready to go vs Laos.
