JYH is still being snubbed for almost a year. Not really following LMS games but is he really that off form? There are older azkals than him being consistently called up like Mulders who is also a midfielder. While Juani and Lucena being consistent on the list is a no brainer though.

Azkals tackle powerhouse Uzbeks March 24 By: Cedelf P. Tupas ALREADY facing tough odds to keep third spot in their group in Asian World Cup Qualifying, the Philippine Azkals will battle powerhouse Uzbekistan on March 24 in Tashkent without several key players who will either serve a suspension or nursing an injury. Midfielder Manny Ott and winger Misagh Bahadoran will miss the clash after picking up their second yellow card of the competition in the Azkals’ 0-1 defeat to Yemen last November while Kevin Ingreso is doubtful due to an injury he sustained while playing for Ceres-La Salle in the AFC Cup last week. Phil Younghusband is available for selection again after missing out against Yemen, but the skipper has not seen action for his club, Loyola Meralco, since the start of the UFL Cup this year due to a knee injury. And while Younghusband is expected to recover in time for the Uzbekistan game, concerns about his match fitness abound as he has not played a competitive match since the Azkals’ 0-2 loss to Bahrain in October last year in Manama. “It’s going to be tough for the team, but we can’t go to Tashkent thinking we can’t get points there,” said Azkals manager Dan Palami. “The strength of our team has been its never say die spirit and resilience and we hope we can summon that in the last two games particularly for our away match against Uzbekistan.” Uzbekistan dealt the Azkals a 1-5 beating at Philippine Sports Stadium last September. The Azkals will face North Korea at Rizal Memorial Stadium on March 29. With just seven points from six matches, the Azkals are in third spot, just ahead of Bahrain on goal difference. Azkals coach Thomas Dooley has widened his pool to 32 players, including youngsters who have impressed in the UFL early this season, including Kouichi Belgira, Dominic Del Rosario, Jim Ashley Flores, OJ Clariño and Jorrel Aristorenas. Dooley will trim the squad to 23 players before leaving for Tashkent via Incheon this Sunday. sports.inquirer.net/208852/azkals-tackle-powerhouse-uzbeks-march-24#ixzz42u1pJzTHA lot of injury and fitness concerns.

It is nice to see Patino training with the team from the start as he is listed on the March 14 callups. We normally don't see him until only a few days prior to the actual match.

Its nice to see luke woodland in training. Hope he will take the role of jerry as holding midfield since I believe it is his natural position and maybe shop for an ufl team perhaps? We need to build up a team not just for the WCQ but for Suzuki cup as well and having him along with shrock and the others playing domestically will help our chance of winning the title

Looking at the pool, i can only see 2 CB's. that's Aguinaldo and Guirado. Lucena is retiring and Woodland is a CDM. it'd probably nice to try Aly again to see what's left to him. he's been solid with Kaya lately esp. in the ongoing AFC Cup

Yep try Ali again and the ever "sayang talent" Alvaro Silva. We need CBs right now. Heck I wouldn't mind even calling up Sabio again or is he still with Ceres?

Schrock, Phil, Misagh to miss World Cup tiff vs Uzbekistan By: Cedelf P. Tupas FACING powerhouse Uzbekistan in its own stadium is a tough proposition as it is, but going to battle without some of your squad’s top players makes the task doubly difficult. The Azkals left for Tashkent Saturday night without stars Stephan Schrock and Phil Younghusband who will both sit out the World Cup Qualifying match on March 24 due to injuries. Younghusband, the country’s top international scorer, has yet to play for his club, Loyola Meralco, this year due to a knee problem while Schrock failed to make the trip after struggling with a leg injury during a recent AFC Cup game in Bangladesh. The absence of the two players has left a huge void on the Azkals attack which will already miss the suspended winger Misagh Bahadoran. Manny Ott, who has made the central midfield position as his own under coach Thomas Dooley, is also serving a suspension, while Rob Gier, Jerry Lucena and Paul Mulders have retired from international play. Goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, Patrick Reichelt, Iain Ramsay, Javier Patino, Daisuke Sato, Luke Woodland, Martin Steuble, Simone Rota, Amani Aguinaldo and Juani Guirado are the remaining players in the side. “It’s going to be very difficult but we can always see this as an opportunity for other players to step up,” said Azkals manager Dan Palami. Dooley tapped young players for his squad, including OJ Porteria, Kenshiro Daniels, OJ Clarino, Jorrel Aristorenas, Jim Ashley Flores and Dominic del Rosario.
