We need to win against Bahrain in order to have any chances of catching up. Both Uzbekistan and N Korea are too far ahead already.

We need to get at least 9 points in the next 4 games in order to be in contention for 2nd place. Beating Bahrain is part of that picture.

We've now played 4 games. That's half of the games in this world cup round and as it stands we're third in the standings.
N. Korea 10 Uzbekistan 9 Philippines 7 Bahrain 3 Yemen 0
We've played each team once and in the next 4 games we will play them again. Mathematically one can say that we're the masters of our own destiny -- we get 12 points in 4 games, we're in. True. But not the likeliest scenario.
In order to think about going into the next round, we must beat Yemen and Bahrain. We lose to one of them, and we might as well turn off the lights goodnight. That's not an easy thing to do. Yemen might be easier, but Bahrain is no guarantee. It wasn't too long ago that them being us was the likely outcome.
That's 6 points.
As for the games with N. Korea and Uzbekistan, it's very likely that Uzbekistan will show their strength again. I'd be happy to get a point, but assume for a moment the likely scenario that they win.
That leaves it to the N. Korea game, the last game of this group stage. We beat them, and that gives us 3 more points for a total of 16. Unfortunately, if N. Korea wins against Yemen and Bahrain and loses to Uzbekistan and us, that also leaves them with 16.
Point is, that N. Korea game will be very important.
But first things first..... beat Bahrain!
Go Azkals.

2 Matches Key to Azkals’ Asian Cup BidBy: Cedelf P. Tupas @inquirerdotnet Philippine Daily Inquirer 03:33 AM November 17th, 2015 The Philippine Azkals got a bye in World Cup qualifying action Tuesday, but they’ll be keeping an eye on a couple of games that will impact their own campaign. Group H leader North Korea hosts Bahrain in Pyongyang, while Uzbekistan clashes with Yemen in Doha, Qatar, with both matches equally crucial in deciding which teams will make the next round of World Cup qualifying. The Azkals are in third, stuck at seven points from five matches so far, following their shocking 0-1 loss to underdog Yemen last Thursday at Rizal Memorial Stadium. But while their fate is no longer in their hands as far as qualifying for the third round of WCQ is concerned, the Filipinos can still gain an outright berth in the third round of Asian Cup qualifying if they finish third in the group. Victories by North Korea and Uzbekistan on Tuesday will shut the door on the Azkals in the next round of World Cup Qualifying.
