What's this I'm reading in social media about Ceres crying foul because Global was chosen for the group stage so they were relegated to the qualifying play-offs? I don't see where Ceres is coming from, since Global won the league and Ceres the cup. The league champions enter the group stage while the cup champions settle for the qualifiers. So what's the deal?

^read that as well, it came from Ceres FB page. "politics again in football. ceres gets d play off spot n global gets d group stage spot. its d decision daw of pff gastanes."
"Ufl is not considered by pff as a national league, they dont even help the ufl group. They always consider Pff Smart Nationals as their own league because they dont have one yet. Who won two 2 consecutive year in Smart Nationals?"--- I agree that PFF isn't the most consistent FA there is regarding their decisions & rules but the way Ceres is acting in social media is the opposite of what they've been convincing the people of what they are- Professional. and this....? "Good job Mr. Gastanes for just making your own decisions just to favor Mr. Palami."

Ceres FC will face Maziya S & RC from the Maldives in the playoffs and will be in Grp E if they advance. Playoffs will be on 2/17/15.
Since the playoffs will only consist of only one match, Ceres FC will have to travel to Maldives(the higher ranked MA) for their tie.
Global FC will be in Grp G along with Yadanarbon(Mya), South China(Hkg), and Pahang FA(MAS).
Group stage will be played on a home-and-away round-robin basis.
The winners and runners-up of each group advance to the round of 16.

No!!! C'mon!!! AFC Cup is a tourney for league champions in every AFC nations, (emerging nations, AFC Champions League, for stablized nations in football). Global is the champion in the UFL, then qualified for AFC Cup, Ceres FC is only THE Cup winner. They too should not play in AFC Cup, Loyola should, they were runners up last UFL League to Global FC, Ceres FC was the 2nd Division of the UFL...

Using the social media for blurting out their concerns instead of taking them directly to the PFF is just unprofessional. Papasok pa nga lang ng Division 1 tapos ganyan na kung umasta? Tsk, tsk. I myself hope that this attitude their staff is displaying right now doesn't hurt their players in the long run. Imbis na magpasalamat eh nakuha pang magreklamo. I'd still be supporting both teams though.

Aw, I am not following Ceres FC, so I didn't see these messages on their page. But in that case, well, it's a shame they blurted these things out on social media. It would have been better to talk these things in private and accept whatever decisions that would come up after the meeting. I hope they can gain some learning from this unfortunate event. I have high respect pa naman sana on Ceres FC because they are really a good team. But strike 2 na sila sakin. First: They refuse to release their players during the Azkals friendly in middle east (selfish act to prioritize club over national duty), and Second: this rant on social media. Hmmm...

Ceres thinks that they be given the group stage because they won the PFF National Championship, thus they are Philippines' champions. UFL, while being the best league and the most popular, isn't of national status.
But but but...
Ceres won the 2013 PFF Nationals! 2013! One year ago! They already had the previous President's Cup slot because of that. Getting the AFC Cup group stage slot is too much. You only won one nation cup and you get two continental slots? That's too much!
It is because of this case that we need a real national league and cup, so that there would be no confusion on who represents the country. Also, UFL is an NCR league but some of its teams are representing provincial FAs (e.g. Global, Stallion). Ang gulo diba?

I also read a comment from Patrick Reichelt via Twitter in mid-2014, questioning why they (Ceres), as the back-to-back defending PFF National Champion have to go through qualification for this years PFF Tournament, whilst the UFL team automatically gets seeded in the group phase. And I actually think he has a point.
