THERE IS SO MUCH PUBLICITY FOR FOOTBALL AT THE MOMENT IN THE MEDIA. UNFORTUNATELY RIGHTLY OR WRONGLY THERE IS A LOT OF MIS-INFORMATION THAT IS CAUSING SOME NEGATIVE CONFUSION. The Manila Standard article 2011/Jan/7 is a good example. IN Australia the mens national team is the SOCCEROOS, the Olympic team THE OLYROOS, the u/20 The YOUNG SOCCEROOS, and the baby team U/17 the JOEYS (the name of a baby kangaroo is a JOEY). The womens team (incl Olympics) is the MATILDAS and the U/20 is the YOUNG MATILDAS. So now could be the time to categorise each of the teams with their own nick name. Philippine women already have their nick name MALDITAS. So now, in the short term, maybe is time to come up with a name for the SEAG U/23 team. SO WHEN THE MEDIA IS WRITING ABOUT A PARTICULAR TEAM SUCH AS THE U/23 SEA GAMES TEAM THEY WILL CALL THEM BY THEIR NICK NAME AND NOT AZKALS SO EVERYONE KNOWS WHO THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.

I just saw Dan Palami being interviewed in ANC and he's saying that Simon McMenemy is no longer the Azkals Coach. He said that there are 3 german coaches that have the A-License that are being considered to replace the Englishman. And he also mentioned that Stephan Schrock, Dennis Cagara and Jerry Lucena will be in the Azkals training camp in preparation for the Feb. 9 game against Mongolia. Thanks MR. Palami, you're the man!

As a starter to get the ball rolling the SEA Games teams could be referred to as SEAKALS or SEAGKALS. Then everyone is aware that any reference to players is for the team going to the SEAGames.
Everyone talks AZKALS and that is so wrong as the name AZKALS refers only to the mens National team.
I remember the robust discussions in 2005 that were had before we finally decided on AZKALS. It was so much fun throwing names around. The same should happen again.
Let the fun begin and see what unique names we can come up with for the other teams.

The young U-23 team you say?How about the 'Tutang Azkals' or in English, the Ázkal puppies.
Yeah, sounds tame and childish and unintimidating but just my suggestion.

I will get more confuse if we start naming all age level(U23,U19,U17 etc) each a name.hahaha
About curtlanceunited post above, I missed that ANC show. I tot Schrock was not release by his team. Thats whats being said on FB. Did you really hear Mr.Palami mention his name?(duda pa no?)hahaha. Anyway thats good news. As for Cagara I think he is still nursing an injury, mite not be 100% if he plays. Cagara and Lucena I think still needs to fix paper work.

Yeap I heard it right! Mr. Palami himself mentioned that Stephan Schrock will be joining the training camp. However, i've read on some Azkals FB page that Dennis Cagara's intentions in joining the training camp at the moment is to recover his form and not necessarily to join the team for the Challenge cup. Nevertheless, i think Dennis will feature in for the Azkals in the future.

our complaints were very much diffrerent from now, before there wasn't much news, now that there is, it's pretty hard to catch up. i'm not complaining though but they tend to be confusing. still the most accurate news would probably be from here, and unless we heard it straight from an insider, like the interview earlier of mr. palami in anc.

About Schrock...he was allowed maybe because february 9 is on the FIFA calendar(Italy is playing aginst Germany on feb. 9 for a friendly)...and I think if games are santioned by FIFA all players called by the NT should be allowed

I think the best news source for the Azkals is Mr. Rick Olivares ( i think he is the official Azkals reporter) bleachersbrew.blogspot.com/*mali..nun lang daw palng suzuki cup sya official media ;D

Hey I was the one who suggested the RAZKALS for the U-23 team, the Young RAZKALS for the U-20 and the Little RAZKALS for the U-17.

Hm, this is just my opinion, but if you're playing football for our country then you're an Azkal, regardless of which junior or senior team you're in. I can picture a kid beaming with pride because he's an Azkal albeit an Under 17 one. I would have thought that even the women's teams were such but hey, Malditas is pretty cool.

We sure have some nasty names for our football teams. We need to teach our players to add a little bite in their game in order live up to the our monikers. Winning Fair Play Awards like we did at the Suzuki cup does not exactly come close to doing that. What is up with that?
