Swimming: Fil-American boy breaks record set by Michael Phelps
Carrying a superhero's name could be a burden for some, but one 10-year-old swimmer in the US is doing his best to live up to his.
Clark Kent Apuada registered a time of 1 minute and 9.38 seconds in the Far Western Long Course Championship held at Moraga town, Calif., on Sunday.
That finish gave the Filipino-American boy a rather cool distinction — it shattered the 23-year-old record set by multiple Olympic champion Michael Phelps in the same 10-and-under age group.
"I love swimming because I have a lot of people supporting me and my coaches are always there for me and my parents are always there," Clark said in a story posted on CNN.
Dia Rianda, Clark's coach, said in the same article: "This kid is unlike any other young man that I've ever coached. He's always stood out, he's just, he's kind of a savant of sorts."
Cynthia Apuada, the boy's mother, said in a story posted on Huffington Post that she was drawn to the name Clark and that her husband's favorite superhero is Superman. That's how the young Apuada's name came to be.
“We’re always just telling people his name is Clark,” Cynthia said. “But when they realize his full name, people just call him Superman.”

Apuada’s time slashed off over a second from Phelps’ record, which had gone unbroken even as the competitive swimmer went on to win numerous Olympic medals. Apart from breaking Phelps’ record, the young swimmer also held more than a five-second lead against his peers.
With his skills, Apuada managed to place first in all of the events he competed in. This earned him the high point award. He also has seven gold medals, as reported by local news outlet KION 5/46.

I think he will have a harder time breaking Phelps records as he gets older as he doesn't have Phelp's height and length and flipper like feet.
