U-16 2012 Qualifiers deadline extended
Kuala Lumpur: AFC has extended the deadline for entry confirmation and interest to host the AFC U-16 Championship 2012 Qualifiers to 31 January 2011.
In a letter dated 26 January 2011 to member associations Bhutan, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Turkmenistan, AFC informs that it did not receive replies on the above matters by the previous deadline of 24 January 2011.
AFC advises that if it does not receive the member associations’ replies by the extended deadline, it considers them as not taking part in the said competition.
___________________________
FIFA just announced that each FA will receive $300000 as their share for the proceeds from the 2010 World Cup on top of the $250000 they receive every year to be used specifically for events such as these. With this and all the sponsorships and other contributions coming in, there is no reason why we cannot host a national U-16 tournament to look for players and field a team in the AFC U-16 and U-19 qualifiers. We already missed the U-23 Olympic qualifiers because of mismanagement from the previous administration. Lets not drop this either. Come on PFF let's not miss another opportunity for our youth to gain international experience.
Deadline is on Monday, January 31, 2010.

Azkals lang ang national team. kahit nga may Under 23 tayo eh hindi nag compete sa olimpic qualifying.. buti pa yung ibang bansa maxadong busy yung football scene nila. may laban yung national team, Under 23, under 19, at Under 16,. tapos may liga pa weekly. hanggat walang ganyan sa bansa eh masasabi ko ng hype lang yung exena ngayun... sorry..

Yes I find it hard to understand why we can't send players to this youth tournaments when FIFA sends us $250000/yr plus the $300000 share from the World Cup to be used particularly for this tournaments. Island nations here in the CONCACAF smaller than Cebu do it at U-17, U-20, and U-23 youth levels all the time. Even Timor Leste is sending a team to the U-17. I get the impression that the PFF just doesn't want to bother with all the hassle having to organize tournaments and tryouts, as they have a full plate with the men's national team. In the previous administration, it was bec. some officials wanted to pocket the extra money, but what is the excuse this time? Now that there are no women's football event at the SEA games, what are they going to do with all that funding? Just sit on it? Phiiippine football have turned a new leaf now. People have higher expectations. If need be, hire more people and make it work.
