I-League usually starts on October and ends in May. His services for PHI might become limited as the new club will just release him on FIFA match dates. Hope we could his services on AFF Suzuki Cup Even though he leaves UFL, still happy for him as Filipino players are starting to increase demand in global leagues
As of now, I-League is better than UFL since the champion there is a candidate for AFC Cup the 2nd prestigious cup for clubs equivalent to UEFA's Europa League. So if Guirado's new team become's champion again they may face relatively strong clubs across Asia. Additional info, there are more players in I-League plays in their respective countries than UFL The summary of statement above is Guirado's skill will improved better than UFL. I'm happy for his decision

Great news for Filipino football as he is one of the first transfers from the UFL, but bad news for his availability in the AFF Suzuki Cup, as he already had plans to join the team along with his brother Juani by November. But after he recently got married, this deal could support him and his wife in their expenses while staying in India. Wishing him all the best.

If Angel didn't lose all those marketing and advertising opportunities he had before the Ramos accusations came out, it is possible he could have stayed in the UFL but without those it probably made better financial sense for him to accept the offer from India. Being recently married, I don't blame him. Hopefully his club still makes him available for callup to the Azkals.

i don't know why but it seems that Global players has freedom to leave their club, was their any contracts signed for each Global players? as i observed before, Juani and Christiaens played for Global before but left the club after playing a couple of matches. and i think it will create more space and playing time for the Global wingers, as they have Christiaens,Bahadoran and Reichelt.

I've got mixed feelings about Angel leaving Global and the Philippines. By him leaving definitely complicates things for the NT. It doesn't matter if he is a ball hog he also is a large physical presence on the pitch AND a very hard worker, remember that Palestine game when he pick pocketed the defender and passed for a goal and that header against Tajikistan(if I remember right)? Now for the other side of the coin. Global has definitely been very busy stockpiling our foreign Azkal youth players and some of them really need pitch time to develop with the NT(senior and youth) and for Global itself, Reichelt and Christiaens come to mind. Now we have a chance to see what these kids can offer in the local leagues and for the NT. Personally, I hope Angel comes back to the UFL someday and for now, definitely he'll still be a part of my personal "Dream Team" roster

Guirado remains active as AzkalBy Olmin Leyba (The Philippine Star) Updated August 22, 2012 12:00 AM Comments (0) View comments MANILA, Philippines - Angel Guirado’s transfer to Indian side Salgaocar Sports Club may not necessarily mean he’s leaving the Philippine Azkals. “Just like what we’re doing with players based in Europe, it’s a matter of communicating with his club and getting permission to release him for his Azkals duties,” said Philippine Football Fedeation (PFF) president Nonong Araneta. Fil-Spanish Guirado signed a one-year deal with Federation Cup champ Salgaocar for the 2012-13 I-League competitions after playing for Global FC – the reigning league titlists in the United Football League that is chaired by Azkals manager Dan Palami. The I-League plays its season October through May, which runs smack into November’s AFF Suzuki Cup. “Angel is a tall player with good physical presence and competent skills; he will give me lot of options as a striker,” Salgaocar head coach Karim Bencherifa said of the 6-foot-2 Azkals forward, as quoted by Goal.com’s report on the team’s announcement of Guirado’s acquisition over the weekend. Guirado has yet to formalize his move to India, according to Araneta. “So far, we haven’t seen a request of transfer,” said the PFF chief, referring to a requirement for all players playing in Phl to secure before heading elsewhere. The Azkals are gearing up for the Suzuki Cup group stages in Bangkok in November. The Pinoy booters just wrapped up their training camp in the US and look forward to playing friendlies on the road against Cambodia (Sept. 5), Singapore (Sept. 9), and Laos (Sept. 10) and the four-nation Paulino Alcantara Cup in Bacolod against Guam (Sept. 25), Macau (Sept. 27) and Chinese-Taipei (Sept. 29). A training camp in Bahrain from Oct. 8-18 is also in the pipeline with a match against the Bahraini national team set on Oct. 12 and a second friendly with another Middle East nation being arranged. www.philstar.com/sportsarticle.aspx?articleid=840573&publicationsubcategoryid=69

Looks like we'll having problems of capping him soon After signing with Indian club, Guirado’s Azkals future in doubtKarl Decena, InterAKTV · Monday, September 3, 2012 · 10:58 pm The future of Fil-Spanish Angel Guirado with the Philippine national men’s football team remains uncertain after he brought his talents to India last August. Rafael Garcia, Guirado’s cousin, manager and translator when he was still in the country, told InterAKTV that he has not heard anything from the Fil-Spanish striker since learning about the signing, leaving him puzzled if Guirado would still come back to play for the Azkals. “We’re still in the dark,” Garcia said, referring to Guirado’s future with the Azkals. “We don’t know the terms of the contract.” Garcia added that it was a different agent who helped Guirado ink a one-year deal with Salgaocar FC, a team which plays in India’s top professional league, I-League. United Football League champion Global, for which Guirado suited up last season, was also surprised with the sudden departure of one of their prized players, according to Garcia, also the team’s marketing head. But just like the other foreign-based members of the Azkals, Guirado could still come back and play for the national team in its matches if his new club permits him, Garcia said. Last August, Guirado was initially part of the Azkals lineup in their United States training tour. However, he still didn’t make the trip. Garcia also said that Guirado won’t join the Azkals in their upcoming friendly matches against Southeast Asian neighbors Cambodia on September 5, Singapore on September 7 and Laos on September 10. After playing in various clubs in his homeland Spain, Guirado, 27, joined the Azkals in 2011 before beefing up the already talent-laden roster of Global, which he helped in its first UFL title last season. www.interaksyon.com/interaktv/after-signing-with-indian-club-guirados-azkals-future-in-doubt

Looks like we'll having problems of capping him soon Once a player is "capped" he is capped. It's now a matter of his "availability".

Remember, teams are obliged to release players during the FIFA international breaks that are set. but some of our foreign-based players didn't take advantage to this opportunity. i don't know why, but maybe they're fighting for a slot in their respective clubs

FEDERATION CUP SQUAD Posted on: 15-Sep-2012 Salgaocar FC has announced their final list of 25 players for the group round of the Federation Cup to be held at Jamshedpur. The defending Federation Cup champions have been placed in the toughest group - Group “D” along with Prayag United SC, Pune FC and United Sikkim FC. “Prayag United is the hot team at the moment because of their high budget and the star players they have recruited this year. We did play Pune FC in a friendly match and we could see their strength. Plus United Sikkim is the dark horse of the group as they are very unknown to us and that is what will make them dangerous and unpredictable" said Salgaocar FC Coach Karim Bencherifa Salgaocar FC will play their first match against Prayag United on 20th Sept, then face newcomers United Sikkim, who will be playing in the Federation cup for the first time on 22nd September, and play their final group game against Pune FC on 24th September. “We are not yet at our peak but we are ready to give a good fight to any team in the upcoming Federation Cup" stated Bencherifa Goan Football fans will be delighted to hear that Salgaocar FC is taking all of its top guns to the 34th Federation Cup. They have been training hard for the tournament under the watchful eyes of their head coach Karim Bencherifa. Salgaocar’s newest signings this season, 24 year old Australian striker Sean Rooney, 27 year old Spanish striker Angel Guiardo and the experienced Namibian Quinton Jacobs will take part in the tournament, as well as the regulars such as Captain Luciano Sobrosa, Karanjit Singh, Nicolau Colaco, Francis Fernandes and Gilbert Oliveira, to name a few of them. Speaking about the chances of Goan teams for the Federation Cup Bencherifa stated that “the problem that Goan teams will face is the fact that the Goa League has not started and there has been a lack of real competitive matches, while Kolkata league is already in full swing with most of the clubs having played 4 to 5 competitive games”. "There is a sense of unfairness in the fact that we have to travel to Jamshedpur taking different flights and then around 3 hours by road compared to the easier access to Siliguri. Also the finalist at Jamshedpur still has a hectic trip to Siliguri and plays the final against a team that is accustomed to the place and doesn’t have to endure the travelling fatigue. But I promise that Salgaocar FC will try to overcome all this and defend our title" finished Bencherifa. Among the the new signings who have made the cut for the tournament are Collin Abranches, Royston D’Souza, Anthony D’Souza and Fluganco Cardozo. Goal Keepers: Karanjit Singh, Vinay Singh, Pawan Kumar Defenders: Luciano Sobrosa, Rahul Kumar, Collin Abranches, Nicolau Colaco, Augustin Fernandes, Karan Atwal, Flucanco Cardoso, Rosario Mendes. Midfielders: Quinton Jacobs, Randeep Singh, Royston D’Souza, Gilbert Olivera, Francis Fernandes, Beevan D’Mello, Anthony D’Souza, Rocus Lamare, Brian Mascarenhas Strikers Sean Rooney, Angel Guiardo, Milagres Gonsalves, Dada Nabeel, Sandesh Gadkari Officials Karim Bencherifa (Head Coach), Sanjiv Nagvekar (Manager), Peter Vales (Asst. Coach), Virender Singh (GK Coach), J. Dilip Kumar (Physio) www.salgaocarfc.in/NewsDetail.aspx?nmid=usy

Hey guys, I think I kinda have an idea how Salgaocar found out about Angel Guirado! It seems we(err, the Azkals) played against some of the Salgaocar/India players in the Challenge Cup. I havent watched my old CC game against India but some names in the Salgaocar roster I remember from the game like Rocus Lamare, Abranches and Karanjit Singh. Perhaps they or an assistant coach recommended Angel to the team management?
*Cross your fingers for Angel, he's got a game tonight!

All you need is ask and you shall receive. Good job Wiking. Do you know what his club's schedule is like during the Suzuki Cup timeframe? Will there be any conflict that might prevent him from playing for us in November or December?
