Sorry if this topic has been discussed in some other thread already. But it seems the mainstream media didn't discuss the implications of these two defeats to the Kanto U team when they were training in Nippon. I mean, I can understand the scoreline if we were up against one of their pro teams or their national team, but not with these college boys. I think the current UAAP men's football champions, the UP Fighting Parrots, este, Maroons, can also give our Azkals a good fight, hehe. ;D

Matagal? Diba this month lang sila nag-training sa Japan? 1st week of March right. Don't be so defensive, I'm just pointing out that I expected a better result from the Azkals against a Japan university team. Relax lang, wala ka po kalaban . And no, I don't know who you're talking about. Kung may kalaban ka dito sa forum then maybe take it up with him/her.

usually in tuneup matches once they ship in the second goal they go into "ah, screw it, let's just worry about getting fit" mode. can't blame them for that.

First of all its hard to compare ourselves to any football team in Japan. Obviously Japan have a very good grassroots program and kids as well as every other player in Japan get the proper training, Facility and support to develop themselves into top footballers at least in the Asian Level. Secondly, the Azkals team that played against that Japanese players was not the strongest Azkals line-up. It was basically a team that was composed mostly of our home grown players, plus we have to put into consideration the very cold climate in Japan.

Knowing how competitive Japanese college football is, i was not really surprised with the result, especially with the fact that Weiss didn't field the best line-ups. And i bet we must have not played defensively, which we should have if it was a real competition. After all, it's not called just tune-up match for no reason.
And you know what? South Korean college football league is even more notorious for its competitiveness. So yea, a loooong way to go and we should especially learn the importance of grassroots developments.

Simple, I was yet to register in this forum . Like I said relax lang, I didn't post that to rile the rabid fanboys, hehe (not referring to anyone in particular, lest I be misinterpreted again). To address your first post line by line: Like I said, this month lang yun. If you judge time by the standards of this forum and not chronologically, then maybe that would be understandable. Don't take it against someone who just registered, relax lang. That's why I mentioned that I apologize in advance if that was already discussed in some other thread, obviously I don't have the time nor inclination to check every thread to make sure if what I want to bring up was already discussed previously. So what are you talking about friend? I merely mentioned that it wasn't discussed in the mainstream press. I didn't say I expected them to win, I expected them to lose, but not by that much. Sure, maybe lots of extraneous factors contributed to that scoreline, let's give them the benefit of the doubt. We're all supporters here, walang kalaban, easy lang . It's so silly of you to put words into my mouth, I didn't say the UAAP champions would "give them a run for their money", what I said above was: "they could give a good fight". I didn't say nor imply that they would beat the Azkals, but maybe the scoreline won't be as embarrassing . I'm new here, so I don't know or care if you have running quarrels with other members here. Is that how you look at every new registrant to this forum, that maybe they are existing members registering under a new handle? Wow, that's sad. You know what they say about fighting over the internet... Even if you win, you're still... Hehe. Easy lang, relax. If you want a real boxing match with this guy/gal, I volunteer to be the referee. I promise, "I'll be tough, but fair". Cheers.

2 reasons and 2 reasons only: one, they have way more experience in this sport than us and they have good grassroots program. two, weiss didn't put the best players. he did this in order to see who among the subs are reliable once any of our best players are unable to play due to injuries or at home etc.

Playing friendly game is not about winning and making goals. If they could only play the game without a goal and a goalie, they would do that, just to get fit.
