---------------------Etheridge------------------- Shrock------Gier --------Boromeo-------Cagara -----------Del Rosario-----De Jong--------------- Jyounghusband--Lucena---------Jonsson --------------------Guirado----------------- -----------PYounghusband--------------- 4-5-1 same formation against Palestine.... You're 4-5-2 lineup will get us disqualified. Too many players on the field. ;D

the last 3 on a 3-5-2 are usually central defenders and the widest players are usually wingbacks with a relatively good stamina and attacking prowess.

4-4-1-1 for me, with De Jong as our ball winning midfielder, Lucena as a central midfielder with support duty, & Guirado as our advanced playmaker with attack duty.

I'm going for the 4-4-2 diamond using players I believe can make it to the games at the time of this posting. I don't want to mess with our tried and tested back four. I'm a bit against have a back three because when we did it before our defensive flanks were open and totally used to our opponents' advantage. I want James Younghusband on his favored side for a change. But I know very little of how well Schrock is as an attack winger. But that attack triangle up front makes me smile. We can switch Araneta for Barsales as the need arises. Also, it's nice to know we have a deep bench. Gives us tons of options. And it's fun for us fans to play around with these formations. To be honest, with so many options in the midfield and defensive line now, it was tough to decide.

I don't want to mess with our tried and tested back four. I'm a bit against have a back three because when we did it before our defensive flanks were open and totally used to our opponents' advantage. Well, as if on cue, Rick Olivares talks about the strengths and weaknesses of a "back three". Excerpt from " Three Back and to the Future" by rick olivares In the beautiful game, there’s the use of three central defenders that seems to be raising its head here and there like some three-headed monster. The Philippine Men’s National Football Team, under German head coach Michael Weiss, has used three defenders (in Aly Borromeo, Anton del Rosario, and Rob Gier/Jason Sabio) during its current AFC Challenge Cup campaign. What’s with the three defenders? Theoretically in the face of an attack, two of the defenders play a central back role with the middle man acting as a sweeper to prevent through balls and swift incursions. It gives flexibility on the attack so teams can have an extra libero in the middle and more attacking wingbacks. These wideouts are the workhorses of this system as they run up and down the flanks to provide support or help. hmm.... did we really use a back three? well, while we did nominally employ three central defenders, one of them was used as a right back, diba? i'm certain we used four defenders (gener/jonsson as left back).

cjeagle: Im sorry about that. that right back supposed to be the position for Shrock like what i've posted. and left back for cagara. speaking about goalie. we can try the goalkeeper of KAYA FC. Christopher Camcam, he is tall (6'2) and only 16 years old. yes he doesn't have enough experience but he will get in the same level with Etheridge as long as Coach Weiss will use this kid. he only needs exposure. we have a bright future for this kid. ;Dsorry, i beg to disagre with you regarding cam-cam , he should prove his true worth first in actual international games for example in the sea games first but to use him as the gk for an azkals game i think it's too premature for the kid to handle, the pressure will be to darn heavy for the untested kid to carry, & with all the hoopla the azkals are enjoying right now, every game of the azkals would be huge, we just could'nt afford to let this kid screw things up for the azkals, & eventually for the whole footballing public ;D

I believe so with the game with Bangladesh thats why we became more offensive. It was Del rosario, Sabio and Borromeo at the back with Lucena at holding mdfielder and Jonsson running both defensive midfielder and wing. Thats why Lucena and Borromeo was very crucial.

Thanks Caz for the link... I believe it was better formation for us uisng this 3-5-2 form it makes us more aggressive and puts more pressure. As per my previous post this is my take: Given Schrock and Cagara playing for the WC qualifiers, I'll move Del Rosario at center back (could also use Rob Gier as an alternative) then put Capt Aly at holding Midfielder. Lucena could be flexible as a defensive midfileder or a playmaker. CHirs Greatwich an Attacking Midfielder. Jonsson solid at left back, I placed Cagara as left winger (could be interchangeable). Then upfront Angel and Phil.

our best line up includes:
1. (Most Important) Big Neil as GK 2. Our outstanding defensive selections during the AFF Suzuki Cup plus the new reinforcements like Schrock, etc. 3. a healthy Phil YH 4. Guirado 5. (The Difference Maker) Chris Greatwich 6. sorry to say this but can we not have Ian at the FW spot?
Our offense just got a whole lot better with the arrival of Guirado and will also be a whole lot better with the return of Chris Greatwich. I really hope he comes back to play for the Azkals. Who knows what the new guys will be capable of providing from the wings or even their play in the middle or at the back. These are exciting times indeed for PH football.
