www.aseanfootball.org/?p=4778JAKARTA (5 May 2011) – Indonesian Super League (ISL) side Persiba Balikpapan have decided to part ways with Philippines international midfielder Jason de Jong. Citing indiscipline and the failure to consistently attend training, the management at Persiba Balikpapan have officially ended their contract with De Jong. De Jong was signed by Persiba for just half a season of the ISL for the sum of IDR 500 million (USD58,000). The team then felt that they needed a calibre midfield player and that was the reason why de Jong was signed after the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010. “Jason De Jong has proven to be unable to fulfil his duty as a player for Persiba. And in accordance with the contract, the management has the right to rescind it when a player fails in his duties,” said Muhdar from Persiba’s Legal Affairs. With de Jong only serving Persiba for just three months, his last drawn salary for April will be for only IDR 48million (USD5,600).

Man, he really blew it. He had a good salary, but he had to play bad boy. He couldve given way for more filipinos in asian leagues if he did well for his team.

"Weiss softens stand on De Jong" (from Malaya) ..."De Jong is like a stray dog now and he needs encouragement, which is why I am willing to take him back into the family," said Weiss after learning the player was sacked by Indonesian ballclub Persiba Balikpapan for breach of contract and lack of discipline...
"stray dog"...like an Askal? Whahaha

No, he has recently said that he has talked to Weiss over the phone a couple of times and he will not play for the mens team in the WC qualifiers, but he will instead play for the U23 team. He is also looking for a new club.

All the same, he probably wouldnt have made the starting 11 anyway, with all the new players coming in. He would give the U23 team some good experience though.

Beho sorry for the late reply but here is the tentative schedule I found.
2011 ASEAN U23 Championship ASEAN U23 Championship in Palembang , Indonesia
1. Myanmar 2. Timor Leste 3. Indonesia 4. Philippines 5. Singapore
16-Jul-2011 Indonesia vs Timor Leste Singapore vs Philippines
18-Jul-2011 Philippines vs Myanmar Singapore vs Indonesia
20-Jul-2011 Myanmar vs Singapore Timor Leste vs Philippines
22-Jul-2011 Singapore vs Timor Leste Indonesia vs Myanmar
24-Jul-2011 Philippines vs Indonesia Timor Leste vs Myanmar
26-Jul-2011 3rd Place vs 4th Place Winner vs Runner-up
I think this serves mostly as a dry run and warm up tournament for the SEA games. It is a good way to tryout players and establish team chemistry especially for those teams who did not join the U-23 Olympic qualifiers like us.

www.philstar.com/SportsArticle.aspx?articleId=687586&publicationSubCategoryId=69De Jong ready to join national team to SEAG By Olmin Leyba (The Philippine Star) Updated May 19, 2011 12:00 AM MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine football team has not closed its doors on Jason de Jong, the Fil-Dutch midfielder who was dropped from the Azkals crew for disciplinary reasons. Coach Michael Weiss said the 21-year-old De Jong could return to the Phl fold, albeit not as a member of the Azkals seniors squad yet but via the under-23 team being formed for the Southeast Asian Games. The defensive specialist has earlier fallen out of Weiss’ graces after he failed to show up in the Azkals’ second leg against Mongolia in the AFC Challenge Cup playoffs and the succeeding group stages last March. He belatedly told Azkals officials that his commitment to Indonesian club Persiba Balikpapan kept him from playing for Phl in the said competitions. But after getting sacked by the Indon club for “breach of contract†early this month, De Jong has expressed his interest to suit up for Phl again. “De Jong is out of the team now, he goes back to Holland and he comes back to train with (Phl) Under-23 (pool),†Weiss said during a break in the Azkals’ practices at the Rizal Memorial pitch. “He’s taking a step back (in the U-23) and if he can prove himself and correct himself a little bit in his attitude, he can come back,†he added. De Jong’s possible comeback, though, won’t happen in the Azkals’ next outing, the Fifa World Cup Asian Qualifiers against Sri Lanka on June 29 and July 3. But he may carry the country’s colors in the SEAG in Indonesia, where he’s still eligible under the meet’s age limit of 23, and help win Phl’s first ever medal in men’s football. “In the Under-23, yes but in the men’s team (Azkals)? Not now. Maybe later,†said Weiss, who will also handle coaching chores for Phl in the Indonesia SEA Games. __________________________________ De Jong is in Coach Weiss'es doghouse. I like the fact that he is making De Jong pay his dues and prove himself at the U-23 level before getting invited to the senior team.

There is an U-23 Asean tournament in July. He has been told that he will be called up for that tournament along with other young players. This is good news, first time read about this. Any idea who will be on the roster? I know they are still scouting for player. I will be looking for a stream link on this one if local TV wont cover it.

locotes,
Some of the players are still being looked at the current camp, including Neil Ignacio, OJ Porteria, and James Rochlitz. Players from the U-23 Suzuki cup and college standouts will also be candidates. Previous national team players like De Jong, Etheridge, Ott, Pascual, Basa, and Tuazon if available will be considered. Players who will possibly join and tryout for the team in Germany like Ingresso, Hoffman, Drinkuth, etc. will also be evaluated. Vincent Ocampo has a torn PC ligament on his knee and will be out 5 mos. If he can recover in time, he might be part of the SEA games but is definitely out for the July games.
