Etheridge played great goalkeeping, for all its worth. Got great saves, too. It was definitely the backline that messed up and the forwards didn't attack the Odense goal.

If Stockdale is being recalled, I hope that new Fulham manager Martin Jol will loan Etheridge out to get him a regular run of games. Ipswich Town Football Club which play in the Football League Championship is a good choice since Stockdale is on loan playing for them. I hope Jol is deciding for this idea, although there will be a problem with this. If the club that Etheridge will be loaned in will put him in the first team, then this will lessen our chances to have him for the Challenge Cup. But I hope Dan Palami has all his choices on the table and all his encouragement to boot... If this happen, I think it will be 1 step backward and 2 steps forward for the Azkals.

Quite disappointing I guess, but it's a great experience for our dear lad Neil Etheridge. At least he did a good job 3/4 of the time during the match. Although he might not start during the home match against Luke Woodland's Bolton Wanderers, as Stockdale is being recalled, I'm very hopeful for the future of our very own.Neil needs to work on organising the wall during set pieces, and how he must control the back four in chaotic situations at midfield or on counter-attacks. Great job, Neil and see you in future games. If Stockdale is being recalled, I hope that new Fulham manager Martin Jol will loan Etheridge out to get him a regular run of games. Ipswich Town Football Club which play in the Football League Championship is a good choice since Stockdale is on loan playing for them. There is NO WAY that Etheridge will be loaned out after this. What if Stockdale gets hurt? It is Etheridge that has been playing the reserve games, not Somogyi, so there's no way the coach will ever take that risk of having the third-string GK, with little to no experience in the reserve games, as the backup in Premiership games.

Neil getting mixed results in the Fulham boards, although the positive reviews seem more thought out. The negative ones seem like knee-jerk reactions.
Still, hard to take that loss.

It was a draw... too bad it felted like a loss coz how big the game was for fulham and conceding a goal at the last minute of the match...

I saw the goals highlights (unfortunately, not the extended highlights that would've included his save).
1. first goal is definitely bad wall positioning. Have to give credit to the striker to sneak in that curving ball right to the corner where Neil had no chance. But it's the goalkeeper's job to position the wall. I didn't see what happened moments before, but read from boards that the ball was moved and the wall didn't. That should've been communicated to Neil by someone in the wall -- to double check with him especially since he's new and especially since the ball was moved.
2. Second goal was beautiful from an Odense standpoint. Perfect long cross that Neil had no chance in. He hesitated for just that split second about moving forward, but I think it was too far for him. He probably still would've been beaten, or worse, gotten a foul. Can't blame Neil on that one. A tighter defense would've helped.
Heartbreak of a debut game, and unfortunately there's only one of those. But most accounts have him performing well.
Good luck Neil!
Go Azkals!

Neil got a good rating on goal.com Goal.com on Neil Etheridge Rating of 7.5 Comment: The 21-year-old had big shoes to fill with Mark Schwarzer dropping out through injury. He caused the fans one nervy moment early on, but kept calm as he turned an onrushing Odense striker. Made a good claim from a corner to really get the crowd behind him and a good stop from Ruud early in the second half. Didn't quite get his angles right for the wall as Odense got a goal back, but a good performance overall from the young 'keeper. www.goal.com/en-gb/match/66169/fulham-vs-ob-odense/player-ratings

Stockdale ReturnsFriday 16th December 2011 David Stockdale will return to Fulham's starting eleven on Saturday against Bolton Wanderers after being recalled from his loan spell at Ipswich Town. Following the news that Mark Schwarzer will be out of action for the next four to six weeks, Stockdale returned to SW6 and Manager Martin Jol clearly believes the goalkeeper has the talent to perform on the biggest stage. “We called David back from Ipswich and he’s a very talented guy," said Jol. "For me there’s no doubt that he can do a job for us. “He played for Fulham last year and did very well. I know Neil Etheridge will be a very good goalkeeper but Stockdale has more experience."He played for us last year and was involved the year before. Playing for Ipswich was good for his development and confidence. “If you look at his talent he’s like the other goalkeepers in the England squad.” Read more: www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2011/December/StockdaleReturns.aspx#ixzz1gke0Rqr5
Damn I was hoping they'd give NE one more game. BW is last place now, it would've given him good experience, at least they aren't ManU or something... too bad.

It is Etheridge that has been playing the reserve games, not Somogyi, so there's no way the coach will ever take that risk of having the third-string GK, with little to no experience in the reserve games, as the backup in Premiership games. I heard that the Fulham reserves have a 2nd GK in the name of Marcus Betinelli, and he has been on the bench in the last few games for the reserves as a sub for Etheridge. If Etheridge is gonna be loaned by the transfer window this January, Betinelli might get his chance to start for the reserves, and pull another player from the club's academy or trade one from another club to put him as temporary 2nd GK during reserve games. On the seniors' side, this will probably make Somogyi the 2nd GK behind Stockdale while Schwarzer isn't yet fit to play. By that time Schwarzer comes back, Stockdale's back as 2nd GK, making Etheridge and Somogyi being the 3rd and 4th choice 'keepers, respectively. So loaning Etheridge will have to make do to improve his performance, and maybe be a starter. The big question is, could we get him for the Challenge Cup?

Benfica goalkeeper Artur Moraes is attracting interest from AC Milan and Fulham.
Moraes has impressed in the Champions League as Benfica qualified for the last 16 as Group C winners.
"There is interest from AC Milan," Moraes' agent Andre Cruz told A Bola.
"At the end of the season it could be a good option."
Fulham have also been linked with a move for the 30-year-old.

"There is interest from AC Milan," Moraes' agent Andre Cruz told A Bola. "At the end of the season it could be a good option." Fulham have also been linked with a move for the 30-year-old. This is from Sky News, which isn't exactly brimming with integrity. Mark Schwarzer goes out, it's inevitable that there's going to be talk about what happens next. I think it's in Fulham's best interest that Neil stays as #2 behind Stockdale while Schwarzer is out, and that loaning him out at this time would be reckless. When Schwarzer comes back would be another matter. It would bring Neil back to #3 and then he won't be playing reserve games. That would be the best time for him to get loaned out.
