PHIL Greatwich is asking LEWESTODAY readers to help turn his international soccer dreams into reality.
The 18-year-old from Lewes hopes to join brother Chris in the Philippines' under-23 squad as the country hosts the South East Asia Games in November and December.
But the former Albion youngsters need [pounds sterling]2,000 to pay for their flights and accommodation so Phil is appealing to businesses and individuals for sponsors.
Right-back Phil hopes to attend five weeks of trials in the Philippines and Thailand in August and September but older brother Chris is confident of selection without a trial as he has already starred for the full national team.
The brothers qualify for the Philippines through their mum, Carolina, who was born in Davao.
Phil, who played for Burgess Hill Reserves last season and was twice a substitute for the Hillians' first team, is optimistic about making the squad of 24 players, despite competition from hundreds of other hopefuls.
He said: 'I'm not sure what to expect in terms of the quality of the other players, but I'm fairly confident of getting in.'
Chris, 21, was a key player in the Philippines' senior team that beat East Timor 2-1 before Christmas to record their first win in five Tiger Cups.
The attacking midfielder, who is studying at Hartwick College, New York, played every minute of the triumph and defeats against Myanmar (0-1), Malaysia (1-4) and Thailand (1-3).
A third brother, midfielder Simon, this month underwent an operation to correct a rapid heartbeat.
The op at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, is thought to have been a complete success and Simon, 16, will play for Lewes before trialling with Aston Villa in the autumn.
The three brothers attended Priory School, Lewes, and Albion's Centre of Excellence at Falmer, Eastbourne, Seaford and Worthing.
Phil and Simon were released at the age of 16 but Chris was awarded a three-year scholarship with the Seagulls, in the same year group as Dan Harding and Adam Hinshelwood, before the club dashed his hopes of earning a professional contract.
