Glad to note that 'Ole Bob G. turns out to be a fellow Gooner, hehe : BTW, since the local Suzuki Cup coverage would be handled by AkTV 13, I hope they bring in more football-knowledgeable commentators rather than the usual basketball commentators they use. If they start to sound irritating to me I'd rather switch to Star Sport's Suzuki Cup coverage.

I would probably switch channels between AKTV and Star Sports just to get an outsider's unbiased view for comparison

Actually, Bob G. also supports Manchester City; on the other hand, Darren H., along with his brothers, supports his hometown team Southampton. ;D I would pick the following AKTV guys to commentate: - Rick Olivares
- Cedelf Tupas
- Ryan Fenix
- Aaron Atayde
- Jing Jamlang
These guys are pretty fine in commentating. If Olivares and Tupas would join the team in Thailand, though, as journalists, I would have Anthony Suntay and Jason Webb to fill in their places, but please, no basketball-ish terms!!! Good idea. Let's see if the AKTV commentators I listed here would fare up the Star Sports guys.

i would take the AKTV commentators over Bob G and Darren H any day. I would probably switch channels between AKTV and Star Sports just to get an outsider's unbiased view for comparison No offense bro... but I think Darren H. is better than any analyst or commentators on AKTV... none taken. i do also agree with you, to a certain extent. i do appreciate Darren's insight, also being a player himself. Plus the british accent almost makes you feel like watching the EPL. He does have some very obvious biases towards certain players though. I also get the feeling that he always needs to get prompted by Bob first before providing the color commentary ( try counting the number of times Bob G will say, "you're shaking your head there, Darren" ) I'm not saying they're better than Darren, but i find the analyses provided by Cedelf Tupas and Ryan Fenix to be very informative as well. Jason Webb, Anthony suntay and Aaron Atayde can do a passable play-by-play but yes they are guilty of making a basketball analogy now and then, proably their way of explaining the game to new fans ( which i prefer over Bob G's explaining of the offside rule and the rule for kicking of the ball back to the keeper ) Plus, one major difference between AKTV coverage and Studio 23, the AKTV guys will always find a way to make the viewers laugh every once in a while BTW whatever happened to Chris Soler?

i only watched the pre game, halftime and post match analyses on aktiv. the game proper i watched in star sports which, for some reason, had clearer and sharper picture compared to the aktiv broadcast.

The Star Sports commentator was also expecting a better performance from us given our players. Nakakahiya yung 1st half, no goal attempts pa ata and we didn't even keep the ball longer than 30 sec.

Yes, I also watched the match on Star Sports because the feed on AkTV is delayed by ~15 sec. compared to the Star Sports broadcast (I compared it by quickly flipping between the channels via Quick View) and AkTV couldn't even figure out how to reformat the 16:9 HD format feed to the proper 4:3 TV proportion so the screen wouldn't appear distorted. It looked squished in the horizontal dimension and elongated in the vertical dimension because of that.

Ill stick with AKTV. THOSE star sports crew are and always will be biased against the Philippines. Why? Most of the crew are fanatics and from singapore or malaysia.
