Anyway, I've been looking for another Woodland playing in the EPL but can't get any info on this one. Is this also the same player you mentioned as a new U23 prospect or is this a new discovery?

Is Malaysia sending the core of their SEA Games team? I counted at least 15 players from that team were born in '91-'93.

It just triggered my curiosity when faridoon posted the video of Schroeck. Can't help but wonder how much potential we have as a team. ;D Anyway, I think it is fair enough... About Gerardo, well it's better if you ask him yourself, he is here almost every day I can't talk about the 'new kid' as there isn't anything worth mentioning yet. RE: LW, both sides are talking, that's all I can say

Is Malaysia sending the core of their SEA Games team? I counted at least 15 players from that team were born in '91-'93. As I was researching the HB Cup, I came across an entry that says that typically this U21 competition is the precursor for the SEAG U23, or something like that, so it's more than likely we will see most of the same kids again. I'm excited to see this competition as we should see almost the same kids(I hope) with a different coach, hence a different tactical style of play. We will see if they really are that bad, or, if the coaching style was at fault.

Thanks for the reply wiking. I hope they name the coach and start training ASAP since we're really behind in our preparations compared to our neighbors.

And is Gerardo De Clercq going to be called up? =) Honestly, I have no idea. I can't make it to any try-outs in January, (if there are try-outs) because I have exams. So I think my chances are very slim.. But I do hope that I will be called up, I'll send Mr Gier an e-mail about this. + I'll probably get my Philippine passport by next month.

From the Azkals.com forum, they say the national team will resume its training on January 9 – February 4, so they may also conduct tryouts in those dates. So maybe if Gerardo plans to travel to the PI by early February maybe he could catch up. Hopefully they'd finalize their schedule as soon as they can.

Gerardo, For a fact I know the PFF is recruiting(forming a team) for the HB Cup. Unfortunately, they will have less than 2 months training time again and why they chose not to start in Nov or even Dec is beyond me(more than half of the SEAG boys are in the Philippines) especially since they are supposed to have a new coach. FORTUNATELY(maybe), they will have the same core group as the SEAG contingent.

HBT 2012 TO INCLUDE FIVE SENIOR PLAYERSBANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (19 Dec 2011) – A new competition format has been drawn up for the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy (HBT) 2012 where organisers will now allow up to five over-aged players to take part.
The annual HBT meet previously had an age limit for players under the age of 21-years-old. But with Brunei wanting to rely on their SEA Games squad for the HBT 2012, allowing over-aged players in the tournament which they are hosting is a good idea. The Sultanate side have six players born in 1990 and they are Adi Said, Ak Anaqi Sufi Pg Hj Omar Baki, Ak Army Mazhisham Pg Hj Muhamad, Md Aqmal Hakeem Abd Hamid, Mohammad Hushaimee Manaeh and Ak Omar Nur Aqammadin Pg Hj Sallehuddin. “We haven’t confirmed any players yet and we are definitely looking for the best. We need one who can exercise leadership and handle the players both on and off the field,” said former Brunei international Rosanan Samak, who is the assistant coach of the team. The Brunei had just returned from the 4th Borneo Games at Samarinda, in East Kalimantan, Indonesia where they picked up the silver medal behind winners East Kalimantan. The HBT begins on 21 February 2012. www.aseanfootball.org/?p=7192&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Ooh, The HB Cup has just become more relevant. If we're going to play 5 seniors, it might be a good thing for a work up/warm up for the AFC CC! Line up speculation starting.... NOW.... Of the top of my head, I'd like to see a senior defensive line, if they play the HB Cup, they could be well practiced/ match fit and used to each other for the AFC CC, defense wins championships as they say... del Rosario, Gier, JL Guirado, Jonsson?

This would mean U-23 captain Jason de Jong (who'll be turning 22 during this time) would be eligible to be part of this tournament! However, I presume many of the core players of the 2011 SEA Games U-23 squad, including De Jong and Ott, would be joining for the seniors during the Malaysia friendly. I hope they'd finalize their plans as they coincide these match dates.

Young Azkals join Brunei tourney Philippine Daily Inquirer 11:10 pm | Sunday, December 25th, 2011 1 share2 1 MANILA, Philippines – Looking to put behind the poor showing of the Under-23 team in the Southeast Asian Games, the Philippine Football Federation is sending a squad to contest the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei starting Feb. 21, 2012. Azkals manager Dan Palami has been tasked to assemble the squad for the HBT which is primarily an Under-21 competition with five over-aged players to reinforce the teams. Palami has stressed the importance of preparing early for the 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar and sees the participation in the HBT as an important component of the buildup. The move to allow the over-aged players in the team stemmed from the Brunei’s decision to rely on the team that saw action in the SEA Games—an Under-23 event—where the Sultanate nipped the Philippines, 2-1, for its only win. The Under-23 Azkals wound up with one victory against four losses in the SEA Games, dooming their chances of making the semifinals for the first time in 20 years. PFF general secretary Chito Manuel Sunday said the PFF has confirmed its participation in the HBT that hopes to lure teams in Southeast Asia. Dato Paduka Abdul Rahman, president of the National Football Association of Brunei, said they are eyeing at least 10 teams to compete in the tournament. Manuel said Brunei, which was only reinstated by International Football Federation in May after a two-year ban because of government intervention, has agreed to shoulder the airfare and accommodations of teams competing in the tournament. Team official Josef Malinay said several members of the Under-23 side that saw action in the SEA Games are still eligible for the HBT like goal scorers Joshua Beloya, Manny Ott and OJ Porteria. Also included in the pool that will start training on Jan. 4 are Marwin Angeles, Paolo Pascual and Filipino-Belgian winger Jeffrey Christiaens. sports.inquirer.net/29991/young-azkals-join-brunei-tourney
