kulaspero15 that's true! Someone actually mentioned here what he saw on tv. When Nonong, with Guam FA Pres and the other guy shaked hands with the players, Dennis Cagara points his finger outside the stadium to where those people watching. Maybe Dennis asked Nonong, "why can't they go inside and watch the game?". Something like that. Hmmm. I pity them.

At around the 50 minute mark there was a break-in at the bleachers from people who wanted to get in but couldn't because they couldn't afford it. Probably not shown on TV.

They should lower the ticket prices in Bacolod (my hometown). The local government there can subsidize part of the cost. First of all, whenever a match is played there it's not only Bacolodnons who will be there to watch. I'm sure people from surrounding provinces and the north will make their way there. With an international match, then you might get a contingent of visiting fans. All these people will be putting money into the local economy when they buy food, pay for lodging, etc. In turn, the local government benefits from the taxes collected from the income of these businesses.
A tournament like the Long Teng Cup will be good for the local economy of Bacolod. Plus, it's added international media publicity and promotion for the city and the province.

I hope PFF gets sponsors for this tourney as it could be a great camp/primer for the upcoming Suzuki Cup! Maybe a middle east camp then this tourney then straight to the Suzuki Cup. Panaad would also be a great venue for the games but if there are 4 total teams, I don't think the pitch would last. Maybe half in Manila and half in Panaad? I wouldn't mind the same crew as the AFC CC group, but if Wolf and Lucena can make it even better!

Cebu is a good alternative venue. they can held the match at Cebu sports complex with a capacity of around 10k. take not that the pitch is new and for now they don't allow athletes to play. and also the newly built USC stadium which is expected to be done on May or July

I think it is still possible to host the games here in Manila. RMS will be the main Stadium and as an alternative we could probably use McKinley Stadium. Several pitches can be use as a training center for the guest like Evia field, Nuvali, Tribeca, UMAK, TurfBGC, alabang cc and Manila polo club.

RMS by that time could still be under renovation aside from the turf, I think they will now expand the seating capacity there. The McKinley by Megaworld will be ready by mid-October.
Panaad is still the best for now. Soon, we'll have lot of places to choose hehe

Excerpt from Manila Times article: Araneta also revealed that the Philippines’ hosting of the Long Teng Cup some time in September or October would depend on whether Macau and Taiwan would skip the hosting of the four-country football tournament.
“We are still waiting for the final confirmation from Macau and Taiwan but I’m sure we’re the one that will host it because they have decided to skip the hosting,” said Araneta, adding that the 2012 Long Teng Cup would most likely be held at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod.www.manilatimes.net/index.php/sports/top-sports-news/25023-azkals-to-play-in-goodwill-games-against-american-teams

Unlike the lackluster marketing efforts they did for the June friendlies, there's now more reason for the peeps in charge of marketing to up the ante for LTC.

Something to do with Clear Shampoo, which Phil YH endorses? Hey, Cristiano Ronaldo also endorses that one.. Hmm.. About the Long Teng Cup, are they only limited to those three NTs (HK, Macau and Taipei)? Or since the Philippines will be the organizers for these year, then can other NTs be invited as well?

Panaad to host Long Teng Cup in OctoberBy Olmin Leyba (philstar.com) Updated June 18, 2012 12:14 PM MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has tapped Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City as site for its planned hosting of the four-nation Long Teng Cu bootfest featuring Phl, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei and Macau. PFF president Nonong Araneta said instead of holding it Manila, they have decided to bring the Long Teng to Bacolod as the City of Smiles is more feasible in terms of financial requirements. Additionally, he said the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium's scheduled conversion into an artificial turf beginning next month may not be finished in time for the tourney, which the PFF targets to stage from Oct. 3-7. "We are already communicating with Chinese Taipei, Macau and Hong Kong that if we'll host the Long Teng Cup, we'll hold it in Bacolod. If they're okay with it, then we'll go ahead (with the Cup) in Bacolod," said Araneta. He said the hosting in Panaad, largely considered the birthplace of the Azkals, is estimated to cost P5-6 million, inclusive of food and accommodation of the delegates plus match officials, and logistical requirements such as security. This amount, he explained, is substantially lower than the estimate if the tourney were to be staged in Manila. "If we hold it in Manila, we'll reach P9 million, which includes P2-million plus on security alone. People in Bacolod said they can do the security at about P300,000 to P400,000 so we'll have substantial savings already on that item," said Araneta, who's confident to get sponsors for the event. Another factor that swayed it to the side of Panaad is the availability of Rizal Memorial. "We're not sure if constructions in Rizal will be finished by that time so I told the three (nations) that we'll do it in Bacolod. We're waiting for their approval because when they initially asked us to host, they mentioned Manila. But if they're willing to go to Bacolod, then it's a go," said Araneta. The Long Teng Cup, or whatever the name the PFF will eventually use for the meet, should serve as one of the final build-up for the Azkals before they do battle in the AFF Suzuki Cup in late November. "Hopefully, the Long Teng Cup this will be a good preparation for our actual team that will play in the Suzuki Cup," said Araneta. The Azkals placed second to Hong Kong last year in the single-round-robin format Long Teng Cup in Kaoshiung, a one-spot improvement from their third place finish in the inaugural edition in 2010, also in Kaoshiung. www.philstar.com/SportsArticle.aspx?articleId=818524&publicationSubCategoryId=200

if i were the PFF, since we would be holding the cup, lets rename the cup and invite more nations or let's scrap taiwan and macau and instead invite NoKor and New Zealand. I know it's a tall order but i think we can invite them since NoKor and New Zealand is out of WCQ.

since the proposed date of the long teng cup or whatever name they used is on october 3-7, which not on the fifa international match day, we can use all local based players in that said tournament however i want to arrange a friendly on fifa friendly days against 2 squads that are stronger than us which in case as jaygee20gensya mentioned in his post are North Korea and New Zealand. if it happens we will have 5 matches on october which augurs well for our preparation for the suzuki cup..
those players that will excell in the long teng cup or whatever name can play along with our euro based players against stronger teams in the friendlies.. in this case we gave the local based players to strut their wares in international matches as well as we give our euro based players the opportunity to play with the rest of the team.. its a win-win situation for the azkals players..
