MANILA, Philippines (September 6, 2012) ---- Tickets to the newly-named Philippine Football Peace Cup to be held at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on September 25-29 are available today.
The public can purchase the tickets at Ticket World outlets through online purchase at www.ticketworld.com.ph and www.azkalsfootballteam.com.
Ticket prices per game are pegged at P500 (VIP center grandstand); P300 (regular grandstand); P50 (bleachers). Fans can also purchase a Golden Ticket at P1,000, which entitles holder to a VIP grandstand seat for all the 6 games over the three game dates. A student discount of 50% - subject to presentation of School ID when the ticket is purchased by the student at a Ticketworld outlet – will also be available and is valid only for non-VIP seats.
The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has named the upcoming four-nation football tournament the Philippine Football Peace Cup in support of the National Peace Consciousness Month (Peace Month). Previously called the Long Teng Cup, the international event is co-presented by the Philippine Sports Commission.
“We join the nation in celebrating Peace Month this September by naming the tournament the Philippine Football Peace Cup,” said PFF President Mariano “Nonong” Araneta. He added that the games will also celebrate the legacy of Philippine football player Paulino Alcantara who served as an inspiration to many Filipino footballers.
The international annual tournament is the third edition of the series organized in 2010 by the Chinese Taipei Football Association. Four nations, namely the Philippines, Chinese Taipei, Macau, and Guam, will compete in this year’s single-round robin tournament.
"The Philippine Football Peace Cup is our culminating activity to support the Peace Month with a simple closing program after the last match of the tournament on September 29,” added Araneta.
For their part, the Philippine Men’s National Football Team (Azkals) had announced that the games they play this September are dedicated for peace. Aside from the Peace Cup, the Azkals have friendly matches on September 5, 7, and 10 in Cambodia, Singapore, and Laos, respectively.
The Philippine Azkals, Teen Azkals, and Malditas (women’s team) joined the Peace Month opening rites on September 2 at the Philippine Sports Arena (formerly Ultra). At the event, the Philippine Azkals hosted a football clinic with Araneta leading the ceremonial kick-off to officially start Peace Month 2012. The PFF is also expected to launch the campaign called I CHOOSE PEACE, the federation’s joint initiative with the OPAPP, on September 14, 2012 at Malacanang.
