Well Azkalfutboleros, the answer is really so simple. It may be that a person really wants a team to win (emotional response), but in fact looking at the relative strengths of the teams, past performances, etc, fans frequently question whether or not their team will win and frequently feel their team may lose although in their heart hope that they win. This is really quite common if you follow professional teams for example in England. The team I have been following for years, Portsmouth, is buried in League 1. That is the third tier of professional football in England. If you check out the fan's forums (I could recommend , you would find many many instances of fans who in their hearts hope for a win but realistically feel that a loss is in the offing. This is really quite common, and the whole internet gambling industry is built around this. Hope this clarifies

Cheeze - is it remotely possible that your post wasn't meant seriously, but that it was tinged with a great deal of satire against those calling for the head of Weiss?

Congrats Azkals!
I'm still so ecstatic with that win. I'd like to say Chieffy Caligdong had been my first Azkal idol when Philippine football first got my attention in 2010. And with his great display of speed and all, especially during the 2011 UFL Cup, I had surely followed their games whenever possible. But admittedly, especially after he got back from injury in last season's UFL league, he was no longer the old Chieffy that I used to love watching. I also felt he no longer had it in him to deserve a place in the starting line-up. He was the person I least expect to score today. But he did.
I salute you, sir. You, along with the rest of the team, made all of us Filipinos very proud.
On to the next match. FTW!

Highlights: LOL at Reichelt's reaction at 0:45 at the bottom ;D XD That was my initial reaction too when I saw reichelt wide open and Guirado made the pass to chieffy instead haha. Then we scored and i got over it hahaha.

Maybe Weiss reads these boards after all.... ;D
Ball was kept to the ground this time. A lot more. Nice to see the good passing, although there were some that were giveaways to the opponents. I'm not expecting Barcelona, but there must've been two or three where it was a direct pass to Vietnam.
In Vietnam's first real opportunity in the opening minutes, the center backs, both left and right, at that time didn't mark the oncoming striker who had a good shot at goal. Poor play. But for the most part of the game the back four again did their job of putting away the attacks. I think even the midfield stopped Vietnam's attacks so that they couldn't start even if they had more ball possession.
Both teams can clearly pass the ball and move up nicely, but I got that feeling that Vietnam made more runs and had more teamwork, while the Azkals (midfield + strikers) were very good but on an individual basis. LIke they were in the game based on raw talent alone (I blame Weiss for not harnessing enough of that raw talent.... but that's another thread and another post). Even if Vietnam had more possession they really didn't threat for goals very much. But the Azkals, with their few chances, made the most of them.
Overall a good game and we escaped with a win. Vietnam could've won this game also.
Now on to Myanmar! Let's get a win!

Considering the importance of the PHI-MYA match on Friday, the PBA may give way and opt for an earlier schedule or a late night schedule for AKTV to air the Suzuki cup Azkals match live. AKTV has announced beforehand that the PBA gladly rescheduled their November 30th Philippine Cup matches at an earlier time to give way for Suzuki Cup coverage by 9pm (this schedule below is from as far as I can remember; I'm not familiar with PBA teams at all ;D ): 4:00pm - Barako Bull vs. Meralco Bolts. 6:30pm - Air 21 vs. Ginebra. They're hopeful, though, that the Air21-Ginebra match won't go to overtime, that would force AKTV to delay the Suzuki Cup coverage.

It's nice to know that both AKTV and PBA agreed to move their timeslot, their way of showing support for our football team. But I still want to hear the commentators of Star Sports over our local panel. But after we scored that goal, I immediately switched channels to AKTV, knowing our local panel will be shouting with joy louder and much longer than the foreign commentators. And they were.

It was nice seeing Gier with the captain's armband.
I think that a 1-0 win is a big thing considering that this match was won with skill. The 2-0 win back in 2010, if I may say, was won mostly with luck.
Also, apparently, the official AFFsuzukicup youtube channel uploads full matches now, and the Thailand match is up. The Vietnam match should be up soon...

Maybe Weiss reads these boards after all.... ;D Yeah it seems like it. He also made Gier captain in this game, hehe. Anyway, much better from us. We kept the ball on the ground for the most part this time and passed the ball fairly well. De Jong played well I thought. Nice chip pass by Angel, awful first touch by Chieffy, but then great strike from him for the goal. He has his faults, but one thing undeniable is he scores important goals for us, always. Sacapano has proven again that he is a solid, solid keeper, fantastic save from him in the final minutes of the game.

Congrats Azkals!!!! Angel Guirado's pass was Xavi-like. Caligdong's first touch was even better. What a goal.

Caligdong's first touch was even better. What a goal. What? He actually mis-controlled it, the ball went away from him unintentionally. You can see it from his reaction. But yeah, it was a great strike.
