Considering the importance of the PHI-MYA match on Friday, the PBA may give way and opt for an earlier schedule or a late night schedule for AKTV to air the Suzuki cup Azkals match live. AKTV has announced beforehand that the PBA gladly rescheduled their November 30th Philippine Cup matches at an earlier time to give way for Suzuki Cup coverage by 9pm (this schedule below is from as far as I can remember; I'm not familiar with PBA teams at all ;D ): 4:00pm - Barako Bull vs. Meralco Bolts. 6:30pm - Air 21 vs. Ginebra. They're hopeful, though, that the Air21-Ginebra match won't go to overtime, that would force AKTV to delay the Suzuki Cup coverage. It's so disappointing that AKTV is not airing its Suzuki Cup coverage to its Middle East subscriber. The PBA games are shown but the football coverage is not. Might be because their TV rights is limited to Philippines.

We all noticed Paul Mulders sluggish game against Vietnam, which was surprising as he almost always never have a "slow" game as far as I've seen, plus he even scored his first international goal in the previous match versus Thailand. Well, it would seem he was "sick" during the match and at this time still recovering. He's got a day and a half to recover. He will be indispensable in the CM/DM position especially with Lucena gone.

To all my homeboys who thought that Chieffy should be replaced for the Phi-Vietnam game: Guess what? He scored the one and only winning goal for the Azkals as a sub! One should never under-estimate my man, Chieffy. To me, he is THE BOMB!!!

Cheeze - is it remotely possible that your post wasn't meant seriously, but that it was tinged with a great deal of satire against those calling for the head of Weiss? That's how I read it, too. Tongue firmly in cheek?

Got to watch the full game. Awesome first half, not as awesome second. 4-2-3-1 showed its worth with just how well we were passing the ball on the ground. So much has changed since I last watched saw them (forgot when that was lol but I think last time was during July to August?). It's definitely not the highest quality football, but the Azkals didn't really longballing like they did back in the day. Much of that has to do with the defense being comfy with the ball and the fact that the midfield was asking for the ball. Only problem was that the RB (Jonsson correct?) kept hoofing the ball up for no reason. We're defending in numbers which is a big change from last year, also. The didn't go between the midfield and offense, and the midfield was actively defending. The change to 4-4-2 was right since Vietnam started getting the ball more due to Lucena's lack of experience at tropical temps. It paid off as we scored the goal with less numbers in the offense.
Also, EDSA was really good. I guess his form is due to the fact that he plays regularly at a highish level in the UFL (compared to before) as well as a world class goalkeeping coach. His yellow might bite us back though .-.
As for criticisms, I still want to see them make correct choices on the ball. We lost the ball in the first half due to running into dead ends or long balls, especially from the RB. This can only be rectified by playing more though .-. Also, I didn't see the fullbacks moving forward (yeah, modern fullbacks). But the most important thing this game is that they looked like a real top SEA team who won using good football. Perhaps I have underestimated Weiss @_@

Well Azkalfutboleros, the answer is really so simple. It may be that a person really wants a team to win (emotional response), but in fact looking at the relative strengths of the teams, past performances, etc, fans frequently question whether or not their team will win and frequently feel their team may lose although in their heart hope that they win. This is really quite common if you follow professional teams for example in England. The team I have been following for years, Portsmouth, is buried in League 1. That is the third tier of professional football in England. If you check out the fan's forums (I could recommend , you would find many many instances of fans who in their hearts hope for a win but realistically feel that a loss is in the offing. This is really quite common, and the whole internet gambling industry is built around this. Hope this clarifies There's another reason for such sentiment as well - the "reverse jinx." This is where you publicly declare a bad result for your own team but secretly hoping it will do well.

Finally got to watch the match again. The 2 halves were polar opposites in terms of possession. Most of the chances in the first half was in our favor but the usually reliable(pre tournament) Phil Younghusband flubbed some clear chances close to goal. Usually against strong teams such misses will get punished but Vietnam's offence was out of sorts today and our defence held them back. It is a different story after halftime. It seems that the Vietnam team looked like a totally revitalized team in the 2nd half with them holding the ball almost throughout the half. Fortunately Vietnam couldn't finish and Ed Sacapano snuffed out any chances that they had. And of course the hero of the day Chieffy Caligdong saved our bacon by scoring that wonderful goal from an equally fabulous assist from Angel Guirado. It is gratifying to see our two homegrown locals on the team playing such important roles in achieving this victory. It will serve as an inspiration for all aspiring players back home that they can also make a difference in future international games.

One should never under-estimate my man, Chieffy. To me, he is THE BOMB!!! Actually he was replaced - as a starter. It has been discussed before, Chieffy doesn't seem to be able to finish strong in a 90 minute game, so he is usually better off subbed out, or in this case subbed in. He IS still the Azkals 2nd best goal scorer and has a right to be on the pitch for the Azkals.
